I’ve been taking my English Bulldog to Maple Shade since he was a puppy. I really like Dr. Heller I think he is a great vet but I can’t say the same about the other vets. Two horrific things happened to my dog while I was going there. When my dog was was young he was diagnosed with mange. One time I brought him in and Vet Amy was assisting us. She gave us Ivomectin to treat his mange which was to be taken orally by a dropper. The vet assistant gave me the medicine and I left. She never explained to me how to use the medicine or show me on the dropper where I should fill it. As soon as got home I gave my dog the medicine. It turns out I gave him way too much. I gave him 8mls and within an hour my dog was stumbling, acting crazy, couldn’t see and was having seizures. I called the vet back and it turns out I was supposed to only give him .8mls and not 8. BIG DIFFERENCE! He was blind for two weeks! About three weeks ago my dog went outside to pee and I saw blood in his urine and a more

Turned my sick dog away. 3/1/2013

I have been going to this veterinary office since 1990. I went in during business hours with my sick dog, she wouldn't get out of bed, wouldn't eat, trouble breathing... They turned her away. One car in the parking lot, 830 am, not one person in the waiting room. They turned her away. I have in the past taken all of my pets here, never again. An animal "doctor" turned away an animal in need, all for an empty waiting room... more

Unavailable during emergencies 10/4/2012

I have been a long time client of MSAH but will no longer be bringing my pets here. My dog went into labor and we ran into complications. When I called MSAH looking for advice and trying to get her seen I was told that they were booked and they could give me a name for another animal hospital. The name they gave me has a reputation for being overpriced and not friendly. When I told them I was uncomfortable bringing her there, their response was "your dog is in danger as well her puppies and needs to be seen".This was a true emergency so why was MY vet not available for me? I understand if this was in the middle of the night and nobody was there but this happened at 10am. What is the point of being a regular client and giving them all of my business as well as my referrals when they are not available to me in case of an emergency. more

Long Healthy Life 12/30/2010

My dog , sparky, lived to be 19 years old, due to the care from dr heller. He was not a very social pup, but he loved dr heller. When little sparky ate a whole chocolate orange at christmas time and got severely ill and was in the process of kidney failure and facing death, dr heller took him home for the holidays in his own house and kept him on ivs and watched and cared for him for a week straight. sparky recovered and lived 7 years after that. Thank you dr heller. Our new family of dachshunds, 3 of them, have been seeing dr heller since they were 6 weeks old, and they also love him. more

BEST VETS AROUND!!! 9/3/2010

I've owned several dogs, that have been like my children. Dr. Heller was so wonderful when it was time to put my dog, Shadow to sleep. He told me to take as much time as I needed before, during & after this. He was very caring & humane to my feelings.\r Now, The Maple Shade Animal Hospital is my Vet for my Bischon, Cappy. All of the Vets are very kind, caring & through with my dog. I currently see Dr. Heller, Dr. Rubincam & Dr. Michele the most frequently. They really take the time to answer our questions & are available when more arise.\r THANK YOU for being such a wonderful Doctor to Cappy!!!\r We recommend your services whenever possible. more

Caring, & Professional Dr.s and Staff 2/13/2009

I will not take either of our dogs any where else. Dr. Heller and his staff are knowledgeable, professionals, who have helped my wife and I raise our babies. Thank you all.\r \r Moe & Trixie Rivera more

Helped us in a sad situation 5/14/2008

we didn't realize our cat Hudson had cancer until he refused food one morning and literally hours later was almost comatose. All the other vet services were closed that day but Maple Shade agreed to call in one of their vets to help us. Hudson ended up being put to sleep but the staff couldn't have been kinder. I was also impressed that they agreed to see him when he had never been treated by the practice before. I will take our other cat there for treatment in the future. more

Babs 1/28/2008

I am fortunate to have been working side by side with these professionals.\r I personally know that I am a better person because of knowing these professionals. \r Dr. Heller and his wife, Amy, have compassion and respect for all clients, pets, & employees. I am a long time (19 years) employee at Maple Shade Animal Hospital P.C., along with the majority of my co-workers. We don't have a large turn over with employees, leaving us to feel and bond like family.\r Dr. Heller also works with NJ state animal rescue agencies, applying discounts for homeless animals. \r I welcome anyone to our doorstep, where there are no stupid questions and the best medical advise money can buy. \r Everyone is welcome. Thank you for your attention. more

a thank you 12/4/2007

I just dont understand why our dogs seem to gravitate towards you... as much as they dislike meeting you nose to nose!! This is the third time they have been either found by you or a passer by found them nears your doorstep!!\r \r I do want to thank you for taking care of Des and LB Henson for four days, during their recent exploration. even though Des has a chip... I didnt realize that our alternative phone number was disconnected..\r \r Being half a world away.. It is comforting to know that they are in great hands.. and reasonably priced during the harsh winters in NJ (yes.. were still in Nagasaki, Japan!!) We will be back in Jersey in March... Hopefully those two will behave til then.. \r \r In the meantime... thank you soooo much\r \r You are.. and will always be the best!!! more

disappointment . 10/14/2007

at my space KholiRee07 .... Dhonna ... was employed with a wonderful team of people or so it seemed ,..I am in shock that i would be let go because i needed a few days to get quality childcare for a special needs family member .. i was truly dedicated to my position as a technician and i will miss the people who helped me excel and all the clients and pets that i watch grow or get well ... .... was told, shed no tears ... no promises on that one ... more

an incredible year 10/11/2007

i was lucky enough to have been employed by Dr Heller and his associates ... i have to say that working in the veterinarian medicine field is extremely rewarding and to work with the staff at maple shade only makes the experience one that can never be topped .. Dr Heller is a professional that not only is dedicated to his field he also has a rap-or with his clients that speaks for itself as he his in the process of expanding to accommodate the demand of his pet loving clientele .... It would be unfare not to mention his colleagues ... Dr Rubicam is an amazing vet .. he is not only thorough , he has a way of making each client feel that they understand his diagnosis and treatment and takes the time to connect with each pet he sees .. Dr. Leso is always caring and friendly and then there is their new Dr Amy Faulls who is an extreme asset to the group she brings a fresh new professionalism that speaks for it self ... and the girls who keep the show running ... hats off to you ... Great Dr. and Staff 11/4/2006

I have been taking my dogs and cats to Dr. Heller for about 13 years. I have been through new puppies and there shots, operations for some to fix there boo boos and had to put some of them to sleep for age. I have been there so many time with my animals they know me by name. Which is nice cause you not just a face walking in the door. I have never met a more honest Dr. than Dr. Heller. He is kind to the point and my dogs like him. As for my husband and I we would never take or animal anywhere else. The staff is very kind also. And compassionate. They always have a smile on there face when you walk in the office and make you feel at ease when most of the time you are there one of your animals is getting a booster shot. I think I am more scared of the needle than my animals are. Just recently I had to put one of my cats down. And you say to your self I am not going to cry but as soon as I got in the office the tears started flowing the girl from behind the counter came and gave me a hug more

Dont bring your ferret here 9/6/2006

We had been bringing our two ferrets here for a few years for routine checkups, the price was low and things seemed to be alright. But when he started seeing problems with our one ferret we brought them in for a more thourogh exam. What we got was a huge bill and a dying ferret. After giving one of our ferrets his distemper shot he began to go downhill fast. This is common for ferrets, he was having an allergic reaction. Rather than treat it with benydril he gave him a small dose of cortizone. Our ferret was losing controll of his functions and losing fluids rapidly. Our little baby was in a clothes hamper in what appeared to be a storage room, half dead. I had been at work when my boyfriend called me to tell me something serious had happened at the vet. I rushed over to see this scene, and when I asked the vet what he could do he said "I dont know, we will have to wait" They did not start my ferret on fluids, dehydration was setting in and my ferret couldnt move. I thought fast and we more

extremely helpful staff and great service 8/6/2006

My brother took my older dog for a walk on a hot summer day and not thinking that it was 90+ degrees. My dog ended up collapsing and started to have trouble breathing. My normal vet in Willingboro was closed so I called the Maple Shade Hospital and they told me to bring the dog in immeditely. From the moment I stepped foot into their nice facility I along with my dog were treated with the best care.\r \r They were able to get my dog hydrated again and explained to me that everything would be fine. They ended up keeping my dog for 2 days for further tests but allowed to me visit anytime, they are open 24hrs. PROS: service, open 24hrs, great staff CONS: more

The best...and I don't even have a pet!!! 6/3/2006

Recently, while my sister who does have a pet, was out of the country, her dog became quite ill. My name and number had been given to the individual who routinely walks and feeds my sister's Cairn terrier. I was contacted because Pebe became quite ill. Having heard on numerous occasions from my sister that Dr. Heller and his staff are the greatest I immediately asked the pet sitter who had already taken the initiative to take Pebe to Dr. Heller, to return the pet there to be cared for until my sister returned. Today, I called to check on the dog and had an opportunity to speak directly to Dr. Leso, a veterinarian who unhurriedly provided me with vital information alleviating my fears, I know that my sister's pet is being given the best care, including blood work, IV, etc. and that , despite everything my sister is going to be satisfied with these decisions. PROS: Quality care, professionalism, compassion CONS: None more

My dog even likes it! 5/28/2005

Dr. Heller and his staff are nice and courteous. There are days when you do not need an appointment. His prices are reasonable, and you won't find anyone here that isn't compassionate when it comes to the care of your pet. My dog used to snarl at the old vet we took her to, but not here. She likes everyone! (except the other dogs!) Dr. Heller will always be the one to tend to our animals. PROS: Good location, ample parking, no appointment on certain days. CONS: more
