I am new to the reef hobby and researched several shops including store visits and Upscales came up to the top, even at a slightly higher price I was confident in their ability to help me get into a new setup that I would be happy with. Their pricing is a bit high for some items and they do not have a large selection of dry goods or fish, however they are willing to order in anything you could want for the hobby. The owner Travis is very knowledgeable and was willing to work on setting up my new system without charging me for the labor for drilling, plumbing, setting up the lighting or getting the reactors set up. Everything was dry fit in the shop and Travis was even willing to come to the house on final install to ensure everything went together as he had planned. We even had a bad pump (very very noisy return pump) that when we asked, he replaced within a couple days. I am very pleased with how the entire setup turned out and Travis's support. The hobby is in general very expensive and as with most stores you should really shop around to find the best price (if that is your only concern), however if you need a place to start or have never visited, I would recommend visiting Upscales. I will continue to shop at Upscales and will also continue to support other local shops as I believe in supporting the hobby and so far I have not found any one shop that can do it all. I purchased a sump set up for several hundred dollars and was told that though there was no manual not to worry, it was a great system, it would work perfectly, and if I had any problems I could bring it back. It is an adaquate system, the pump that came with it never worked, at all, and they will not replace the pump, they want me to fix it, and when I pushed to make them replace something that they sold to me broken I was told, ""we do not have any control over this cr** from China, you are not fu**ing listening to what I am saying, it is probably just the rotor stuck (on a brand new pump?), it is a great system and your just a b****, and I don't have to deal with you"" and click my phone went dead. He was mad because I have been ""bothering"" him about them selling me a defective pump. They have always been arrogant and rude, the owner will continue personal conversations while you are waiting to be assisted, but this sump suckered me, I did not realize how cheesey and poorly made it was until I installed it and could see it next to my old sump. Their rock has atapsia and when they do deign to talk to you about fish you are interested in purchasing they lie easy. Do not buy from them, don't even go in the store, save yourself the hassel and the money. Pros: nothing Cons: atapsia, rude owner, ""brand new"" pumps sold already broken and no returns more
