Staff rudeness is driving patients away 4/18/2010

My wife and I are former patients who left because of the habitual rudeness of some of the staff. Totally unacceptable behavior for medical personnel. Expect arguments from and with the staff if anything goes wrong. Turnaround time on prescription refills is also unacceptable. Dr. Burns herself is the only bright spot, unfortunately her staff is driving away existing patients. We changed to Harvard Med in Fuquay and are happy there. Pros: Dr. Burns is good Cons: Did I mention the rudeness? more

NOT RECOMENDED WILL NOT GO THERE AGAIN 1/27/2009

It is sad that when you live in the country this is the best we can do for medical care. I wonder if they are now teaching Doctor's to insult patients instead of showing compassion and listening to their concerns. If we polled 10 liscenced personell in the hospitol setting about a temp of 104, they would also be concerned. No it probably wouln't cause pemanent damage, but it could lead to a seizure. We also still take AX. temps for those patients who just had something cold to drink or have oral impairments. If you need to kow allergies of a previos patient they should already be on their chart. How long have we been using cool compresses on patients foreheads to help with fevers? Pros: Only urgent care in Angier Cons: MD doesn't listen, and is stuck on herself more

Doc Burns is the best family doctor around 10/28/2008

Doctor Burns (Doc) is a rare individual in a field of full of doc in the boxes! This is my first and probably only review at this site - while looking for the office fax number I came across the last two reviews and had to defend the Doc. - Michael, Cathy and the rest of the staff are outstanding everytime I visit or call as I often due for spur of the moment appointments, referrals and information - I left my primary care manager because of his beliefs from his country of origin pre-cluded conversations rangng from viagra to menopause (his statement was that the women in his country stoicly went throught it and didn't complain) -We went to Doc Burns because she was a Tricare provider and could see our whole family - Doc Burns is very up front and doesn't sugar coat things and I respect that - she told me if I didn't change my ways I would die young and I am convinced she is right - and am now doing something about it!\r \r My older brother , my sister-in-law and my mother go to her - In fact, when my mother switched to her, during the initial office visit she insisted on some tests - My mother then found out she had stage 4 CLL and subsequent colon cancer - she has been in remission for several years now - if it wasn't for Doc, we'd have had the funeral long ago -\r \r As is true in almost every Doctor's office I have been to, patience and mutual respect are the key to a sucessful visit - raising your voice and demanding something will get you exactly no where in any type of situation be it Mcd's or the vatican - treat folks with the respect you demand for yourself and see if you have different experiences - \r \r I hope this doesn't come across as a personal critisism but the previous reviews are so opposite to our experiences - Doc is a caring, down to earth and very open physician - she treats us with respect and humor and always takes the time to talk even when she's behind - she may be young but she has an old country Doc's soul - amazing combination!!\r \r Pros: Caring, straight forward, honest and will explain at a level you can understand more

Long wait on call backs, unnecessary visits, rude desk help 7/25/2008

If you see this Dr. expect to NEVER get a return call even if they say they will call you right back. Expect the Dr to be single minded and set in what SHE believes rather than entertain another method of treating you, even if you have done all the reading and research to back up your conversation. \r \r There are more than one front desk ladies and one of them is rude to a fault. Abrupt when you ask her a simple question and very short in the area of friendly.\r \r If you are insured and can afford to just go sit and talk about nothing, this is your doctor, but if you are short on time, no medicial insurance and you pay as you go, beware of the visits that have no value. As a consumer and a person that should know your own body pretty well, be careful how you call for anything simple. This doctor will tell you an office visit or she can not answer your question. So I do not call at all anymore!\r \r But remember, as a small town Dr. she is better than the one other Dr in town at Angier Medical Center! So if you want real professional doctor care, you will have to go elsewhere to get it. Pros: Small town and the only doctor in town that will not completely wreck your health. Cons: Narrowminded in her diagnosis and treatment more

Horrible 6/3/2008

They mess up prescriptions and then expect you to wait for them to fix it. I got into a verbal arguement with the entire office staff after Doctor Burns sent a completely different prescription to my pharmacy. The ladies in the office told me that I would have to wait until Doctor Burns found free time during the day to fix it, and I was not as important to them as the patients in the office. I will never go to this doctor ever again. more
