Shortly after I called United Waterproofing, Ron came to the house to assess my problem and provide an estimate. He was very thorough and professional and provided a detailed explanation of what needed to be done and the United process of solving the problem. He provided a proposal on the spot which I signed and I was provided with a date for the work. On job day, Jonathan and his crew arrived promptly (8:30 AM - as promised). They set up a barrier so that my finished basement and the rest of the house would be protected from the dust and dirt that naturally results from digging up a concrete floor. They were very efficient and were done by 4:30 PM, as promised. Despite the fact that an entire wall of my basement had pretty much been torn up and put back together again, my basement was remarkably clean after the completion of the job. So far, no problems with water - although at this point we have not the type of rain that would provide a true test. The work is guaranteed (and United has been around and should be around to back the guarantee) so I am not worried. Steve, the General Manager, arrived the day after I called, estimated the job and included in the price a second sump pump that may be needed. The crew was scheduled for 10 days later and arrived on time. They reviewed the job with me and even added a few minor problems that I requested. They worked hard to jackhammer the floor, removing the debris in 5 gallon buckets. As mentioned above, a second day was needed to complete the job but it was done to my complete satisfaction. Since a major job like this is expensive but necessary, they were very helpful in working out a financial arrangement that was fair and reasonable to both parties. The basement has been dry for weeks, even after several rainstorms and the sump pump motor is now music to my ears. After my experience with this firm, I most highly recommend them. We experienced a heavy rain after Hurricane Sandy and to our horror; my husband and I found large pools of water covering the entire basement of our newly purchased home. As I stood in a puddle, I used my Angie's List App on my iPhone to call United Waterproofing. I talked to a sympathetic woman on the phone who set up an appointment to have our basement looked at the very next day. Steve Scarfo came out to assess and spent 2 hours explaining in detail what was needed to solve our problem and even showed an animated design program on his computer so that we could understand the French Drain system. Turns out, since our colonial home is almost 100 years old and was built on stones, instead of cinderblock, the water was seeping through the foundation and making its unwelcome home in our basement. So that would never happen again, my husband and I decided that having a French Drain installed in our basement was our best option. My husband and I worked late on a Saturday and had questions - Steve called us back immediately and was always there to make sure all of our questions were answered. On the day that the project began, the team of workers entered and began working with such efficiency, organization, and cleanliness that I was left in awe. From taping up the door that leads to our home, to laying tarp on the sidewalk, ripping out the moldy insulation and drywall, jack-hammering the concrete to make way for the system, everything was executed with precision and the utmost organization. That night, they left the basement cleaner than the way they found it. The team returned bright and early, on the dot, to continue installing the system on the 2nd day, installing the pipes, pumps and pouring the cement. He accommodated us with a change of date and showed up on time with his crew. They made no mess and thoroughly cleaned up after the job. Everything was put back in place in our basement and it was left spotless. The representative, who initially came to look over the job was very knowledgeable and went over everything thoroughly. She gave us many references to check and showed us their fleet of trucks which have painted on logos of the company, not stick on letters which can easily be changed to another name if the company has problems. She took mold samples and they did not proceed with the job until the Mold Sample Report came back indicating the type of mold we had. We were given copies of the report and also the final report after the job was completed. more

I was extremely apprehensive about having my basement waterproofed given all the negative reviews of so many companies on the internet and of course, the cost. I did my research and I called United Waterproofing and while this is not the best thing to do, I signed a contract without getting any other estimates. Based on my web research and the product that they offered, I felt comfortable in signing with them. The work was done in one day and I couldn't have been more pleased with the professionalism and the way they left my basement in such a clean state. It's been two weeks and we've had some brutal rain and my basement is dry. I have since called the office twice: once because I thought I saw water (my mistake) and a second time because I heard the pump running and clicking off and running and clicking off. I thought that there was something wrong with the pump. In both times, I immediately got a call from the owner. He just came out to take a look at the pump - there's just so much water in my area that the pump is going to keep going until the area dries up. He took the time to examine both pumps even though it was obvious that the pump is running because of the amount of water still to be pumped out. I would highly recommend United Waterproofing. They make you feel like they care about you as a customer and they do great work. more

Full basement waterproofing, including removal of old system, digging of new trenches, installation of new under floor drainage system, installation of two heavy-duty sump pumps (one in an existing site, the other in a new site), and finishing of floor edges with new concrete and a dimpled plastic material. To avoid penetration of concrete dust into our house and damage to items in the basement, the company sealed off all door openings with heavy plastic, removed all basement windows, wrapped stationary items in heavy plastic (washer, dryer, freezer, misc. storage), and afterward broom-cleaned the work area as well as my driveway (a lot of muddy broken concrete gets hauled out by bucket). Basement waterproofing is hard, dirty work involving lots of jackhammering, broken up concrete, concrete dust, and cold muddy silt. United Waterproofing showed up on time with a large crew, business owner and supervisor explained exactly what to expect, and everyone got to work immediately. Every man worked quickly, efficiently and with a good attitude, installing a first-rate waterproofing system in my large basement in just one day while doing everything to avoid disruption. I was especially impressed the Owner showed initiative and practicality by rerouting the discharge for two powerful new sump pumps (previously, water discharged into my side yard, creating a bog for much of the year). He also removed a damaged 40s-vintage concrete and zinc laundry sink that I'd been wondering how to get rid of (it weighed a TON). Moreover, when I had a question four months after the waterproofing, The Owner came by personally to inspect the section of basement I was concerned about and offer suggestions for addressing it.
