We experienced a heavy rain after Hurricane Sandy and to our horror; my husband and I found large pools of water covering the entire basement of our newly purchased home. As I stood in a puddle, I used my Angie's List App on my iPhone to call United Waterproofing. I talked to a sympathetic woman on the phone who set up an appointment to have our basement looked at the very next day. Steve Scarfo came out to assess and spent 2 hours explaining in detail what was needed to solve our problem and even showed an animated design program on his computer so that we could understand the French Drain system. Turns out, since our colonial home is almost 100 years old and was built on stones, instead of cinderblock, the water was seeping through the foundation and making its unwelcome home in our basement. So that would never happen again, my husband and I decided that having a French Drain installed in our basement was our best option. My husband and I worked late on a Saturday and had questions - Steve called us back immediately and was always there to make sure all of our questions were answered. On the day that the project began, the team of workers entered and began working with such efficiency, organization, and cleanliness that I was left in awe. From taping up the door that leads to our home, to laying tarp on the sidewalk, ripping out the moldy insulation and drywall, jack-hammering the concrete to make way for the system, everything was executed with precision and the utmost organization. That night, they left the basement cleaner than the way they found it. The team returned bright and early, on the dot, to continue installing the system on the 2nd day, installing the pipes, pumps and pouring the cement. Rafael, the most professional, polite, and gracious foreman, even went above and beyond by throwing some cement on a few holes near the ground (where rats were entering).
