Ume Federal Credit Union

I used this credit union for five years. I liked that it was local and I never had to write a deposit slip. What I didn't like were they closed at 5pm and didn't have weekend hours. Also it was a pain to switch from this bank since I worked until 5pm and you have to go in personally to close an account. Thumbs down. more

It's got no associations with any other banks, so you will eat fees from other banks if you use their ATMs. If you go out of town, you'd better make sure you get your cash from here first or you'll pay fees up the wazzoo from other ATMs no matter whether it's a credit union or a bank. These guys need to hook up with the other CUs so we are not all hosed when we leave Burbank. The great friendly customer service doesn't apply if you are trying to get your cash out, by the way. You deposit a lot of money and they try their best not to get it back to you easily or quickly. I had a huge amount of cash in my checking account and asked them for a cashier's check. They told me there was a 7 day hold on the check (WHAT? It's a cashier's check!). I asked them if I was supposed to cart around 50 grand in cash instead. The supervisors are not very great either and don't seem to have an ability to make their own decisions, or at least they choose not to. They have not got a great track record with me and I have been with them for 10 years. I continue to stay with them out of a lack of finding ANY financial institution that is worth keeping my money. I'm not always in Burbank but I've used this Credit Union since I was going to school in Burbank quite a few years ago. Great friendly customer service and tellers are pleasant to interact with. Have gotten loans over the years (numerous auto loans) and they have always been easy to work with. Parking is easy for in and out and there's also a night drop for after hours deposits. Pros: Good local customer service Cons: Only one location more

I've been banking here since 2005 and I will never leave! Pros: Great neighborhood bank Cons: only one location - but with all of the co-op atms it's really not a con! more

The BFCU really needs to get with the times and go online. I've had my account there for 25 years and still maintain an account there even though I moved out of state two years ago. Since I'm out of state now, I'd like to see my account online! Pros: Free ATM for whatever bank card you use from any bank, good parking Cons: No online account service more

It just seems to me that with all the modern conviences of today the credit union would be able to keep up with the times. Every time I ask about being able to make payments, etc. on-line they always respond saying they hope to have that set up in the near future. They have been saying that to me now for at least 3 years. Because of this dis-advantage, I am hesitant to use this bank as my everyday account. I use it only for loans, etc. I sure hope that they are looking into this very seriously. Most people want the convience of paying all bills online. Thank you Cheree Border more

The Credit Union's rates are great. The APR on both auto and home loans are pretty good. Although they have a phone-based system to query your account info, make transfers, etc, they do not have any sort of online services...I would find that very convenient. The CSRs spend more time with the customers which some people might find nice but when Friday roles around, that leads to some pretty long lines (you're better off making your transaction by ATM). Another problem is the hours they operate...they close early and they're closed on weekends. There are no charges by them for using ATMs from other banks (though the other banks may charge you) so their ATM service is good. more
