Ultimate Hobbies

This hobby shop is probably the worst in Southern California in regards to customer service. When you call, they act like you are bothering them. You can stand in the store and no one will help you AT ALL. If you ask for help they will clearly show their negative disposition. Furthermore, when I brought up the bad service, they gave me even more of an attitude. I visited this store twice, and both times it has been the same story. I live in West Covina and I was looking for a hobby shop where I could spend my hard earned cash at. They did everything they could to make me resent them. I don't think they realize that in an industry that is hobby/recreation related the product they are actually selling is the service not the cars. I can get a car or related parts from anywhere, but what makes me come back is the service. This place lacks any sense of service and I will tell everyone I know not to shop at Ultimate Hobbies. more

Ultimate Hobbies is a large hobby shop with a tremendous selection, lots of parts/accessories and electronics for the R/C modeling community at lower-than-average prices. I was referred to Ultimate Hobbies by, of all people, an employee of another well-known hobby shop that didn't/couldn't carry the equipment I needed. Thanks to them for a great referral. It was suggested to me that I specifically speak with Topper. Topper is an older gentleman that I found to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful when it came to R/C, aircraft in particular, at least as I experienced during my visit. During the hour or so that I was there, the store received at least two phone calls where the caller specifically asked to speak to Topper. Other customers who walked into the store while I was there all came to speak directly to Topper as well. It was a "take a number" situation, so to speak . . . Topper was well worth the wait and devoted full attention to my concerns when it became my turn to be helped. My overall experience with Ultimate Hobbies was quite pleasant. Only drawback I can think of is that they have a strict return/service policy. If there is a problem with your radio, for example, a little sticker on the box informs you that you are to deal directly with the manufacturer. I was also informed by a third party that Ultimate Hobbies penalizes returns with a 25% re-stocking fee, regardless of reason or even if the seal on the merchandise has never been broken. This is a great hobby shop. We stumbled upon it while driving around Orange and found it to be one of the best hobby shops in Orange County. They have a great selection of model kits for cars, planes, boats, etc. as well as RC cars and planes and trains as well. It is a pretty large store, much larger than most hobby stores. But the reason I enjoy this hobby store so much (as opposed to other hobby stores) is that there are things to look at for the ladies as well... scrapbooking / card making supplies! They carry a great selection of different cardstocks/stamps/inks/stencils, etc. and have a lot of example cards as well. They also offer scrapbooking / card-making classes on weekends. This is a great hobby store, not just for boys who like toys, but for girls as well! more
