Great Consignment Store 1/11/2012

Wow I have to say that I am somewhat taken back by the negative comments. I have been both shopping and consigning here for years and I adore these women and the store. They offer truly quality pieces at afforable prices. Yes some items can be pricey but if you know your quailty and brands then you know they are a wonderful value. They have been very helpful when I was looking for a particular item. When I consign I love that they truly take care of my items and that they display them so well. Yes they would prefer children not be brought into the store if they are not well behaved and I am grateful for that. They want to insure that the consigors items are not broken or stained and they do thier best to insure that.\r Through the years I have been able to truly transfrom my home to a level of quality I may not have been able to afford if buying new retail so I am truly grateful for this wonderful consignment store and for Joan and he lovely sister!\r I am confident that if you pay this store a visit you will keep coming back again and again! Another great thing is that they get some of the better quality items offered in San Diego!\r I am a fan of this store and in my opinion by far the best consignment store in all of San Diego! more

Ignore the crotchety women 1/7/2012

I have both purchased and sold furniture to these women (those of us raised in the South use the term women, as opposed to ladies, to indicate a lack of refinement). I do not believe they intend to offend, but truly believe they are a bit callous and rough by nature. I do have compassion for the mother whose child was scolded. All such criticisms should be made to the parent, and never the child. As for the idea of Solana Beach socialites, I assure you that term does not apply to SB. I have owned real estate in Solana Beach, Del Mar and Rancho Santa Fe. My home in SB was located 4 blocks from the sand and my neighbors were uncultured, hillbillies. Hold your head high and demand respect from the women who are there to sell to you, no matter what your zip code. more

great store - fabulous stuff 12/28/2011

I may be biased since I'm a relative but I don't know what these people are talking about. I've been going there for 15 years and my experiece is that when you are nice to people, they are nice back. The sisters store is the best in the city and I always get incredible deals. People who think the prices are high simply don't know what retail prices on expensive furniture are. This isn't Ikea. Virtually everything in my house is from this store and when my friends compliment me I tell them that I got it here.\r more

Yes, Sisters are Horrible, but good stuff 11/12/2011

I've had some bad experiences with the sisters - at least one of them is truly a nasty and unhappy human. As far as the review complaining about the kids - I have no sympathy. Sounds to me like you have spoiled kids and you are the problem. About the goods - they do get some great stuff here. Come often, ignore the ladies, and buy when you can't resist. more

Fantastically BAD 12/30/2010

They have really expensive crap here...but even better is their customer service. You get the privilege of being treated like dirt, yelled at, snubbed or ignored. This is the perfect place for shoppers with low self respect as they will love the abuse, Those of us with a little more esteem walk out of there and head off over to other places. more

Rude 9/20/2010

I haven't been in there in years. The last time that I went, I saw a bedside table that I was interested, but was not priced. I asked one of the sisters for the price and she said, ""It's expensive."" I said okay, so how much is it. She again answered, ""It's expensive."" Seriously? I asked one more time and got the same response. I seriously thought I was in an Pretty Woman. Hey, if you're running a business, you shouldn't judge people by their outward appearance. Just because I wasn't wearing my diamond earrings and ruby necklace, doesn't mean I don't have money. Stupid business practice. Go to Village Consignment in Solana Beach. Nice, great prices, and they actually will tell you how much something is! more

GREAT PLACE FOR HIGH END USED FURNITURE AND FURNISHINGS 9/18/2010

I have been buying items at this store for many years. Lot's of high end, unique furniture and unusual furnishings. Good prices for designer items.\r \r Over the years, the ladies have lightened up a bit. But DON'T TAKE YOUR CHILDREN!! The store posts signs at the entrance about children and food in the store. There are lots of trouble for kids to get into and very pricey things to be broken. As was one shopper's (and reviewer's) experience. I have no simpathy. This is a person's business and not a place for kids to be allowed to ""play hide n seek"" among other peoples property. \r \r Worth a trip every now and then to see what awesome stuff the ladies have in their store on consignment. more

If you want your child to be verbally abused, this is the place! 12/3/2008

#\r User Rating: 1 out of 5 stars\r by Momof3\r 12/03/2008\r \r I put dresser on hold and returned the next day 90% ready to purchase. Just wanted to take one final look more carefully and brought my 8-year old and 3-year old daughters with me. The place is packed and of course very tempting for my younger daughter to play hide and seek. I tried my best to keep her off the furniture and she is a well-behaved child, and very shy. She listened, but as all kids do, they try to sneak one more past you. As we were talking about the dresser, the store owner suddenly turned around and yelled at my little girl and said, raising her voice, ""NO,NO,NO,NO NO,!! GET OFF!!"" I apologized right away and my daughter immediately did as she commanded, but she was wedged between a sofa and 2 chairs and a 7 piece dining room set. She was scared stiff and did not move an inch. The woman just hovered over her and repeated, ""GET OUT OF THERE!!"" I tried to lift her over one of the chairs, but she was literally stuck. My daughter was quiet the entire time, and then suddenly started to cry incessantly and said sobbing with tears streaming down her face, ""I want to go home, Mommy."" The woman simply rolled her eyes and then just walked away. Needless to say, we immediately left the store. I whole-heartedly respect the owner's feelings about keeping her merchandise in good condition, but it is completely unacceptable to speak to a young child that way, especially if her mother is about to make a purchase. Did you want the sale or not? I don't know if it's because we don't fit the profile of your typical Solana Beach socialite doing some antique shopping, but I will NEVER step foot in that place again! My daughter cried quietly in her car seat all the way home and kept telling us she was scared. . I'm so afraid that that horrible woman has erased almost 4 months of hard work at her preschool to get her to come out of her shell with strangers. Thanks a lot, you insensitive idiot!
