My TV works like new! 7/20/2011

I own a 40""Samsung LCD tv that was not working right all the time. Sometimes when the tv is turned on only vertical colored lines would show. I waited to have the tv repaired until it would no longer turn on. I came across an ad from TV Jacks and called them. They were helpful from the start, explained what was needed and when I got there with my TV, I was given a good quote. It took a few days to get my tv back caused by a defective part, but I am thrilled with the results. Trey, the owner explained everything and was really courteous to me. My tv works like new. Thanks! more

TV Jack's Was Great! 6/27/2011

I thought my 2 year old Sony LCD was done for when the picture started flickering and shuttering. My friend recommended I get it serviced at TV Jack's in the Bonita Chula Vista area. It turned out to be a good decision. After speaking with them, I brought it in on a Wednesday and they called me back on Thursday evening to say it will cost $225 to repair. Since I paid over $2500, I considered it fair. I was able to pick it up on Saturday afternoon. It took 4 days from start to finish. I couldn't be happier. more

Great Service / Takes Care of Its Costumers 12/20/2010

My tv finally stoped working and i went to this biusness to have it fixed. The owner told me that the repair would not be cost effective. the greatest thing that I liked was that he took care of us and he gave us a LCD for a great price and he applied all the money that we spent on the repare to the new TV. cant beat these guys. I Am a very happy costumer\r thanks TV JACKS\r -Danny more

EXTREMELY DISHONEST, POOR SERVICE 8/11/2010

I saw a TV on display at TV JACK'S and purchased it. I specifically asked Trey (the president and owner) if i was getting a new one in the box, he said yes. TV arrived in a box, but turned out to be the one displayed in the store, not brand new in box. called him on it, was told i'd get an new one in box, was shown the new one in the box. then i get a call the next day, the one in the box cost $500 more and i'd have to pay it if i still wanted the tv. told him NO. told him to repair my old one. ($149.00 to check it out plus $50.00 Pick-up and delivery). then he calls and says it's another $350 and tells me whats wrong with it. (i'm a technician myself and knew what he said was the problem was wrong or at least not the complete problem.) told him to just bring my TV back. My TV was working when i gave it to him, but he brought it back totally dead. Here's the real kicker, while i'm looking closely at my returned TV and talking to Trey about why it's now totally dead, i hear his truck start up and drive away, he's gone!!!!!!!!! (It took me all of 10 minutes to figure out what was wrong and get it working again. (still may have original problem, shutting down whenever it feels like it))..., i don't think much of his technicians either. I bought from him because i wanted to help the ""small guy"", in this case it was a mistake, this is one small guy that can go away and we'll all be better for it. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY AND HIS BUSINESS !!!!!! more

Excellent Local/Small Business - Highly Recommended 3/25/2010

When my 50"" Sony projection TV finally died a few weeks back, I quickly discovered that I didn't have sufficient knowledge to make a decision on a replacement. After visiting several large stores (Costco, Best Buy, etc.) I wasn't able to find anyone with real knowledge on the new LCD technologies. That changed when I went in to TV Jack's. Trey immediately impressed me with his knowledge and experience with these TVs and steered me towards a model that fit my budget and needs. It was immediately available and after dropping off my old TV I picked up my new one, and installed it the same day. End of story? Not quite. . .so exactly 7 days later I'm shopping in Best Buy for an unrelated product, and lo and behold. . .there is the EXACT same model TV for $300 less than I just paid at TV Jack's. Best Buy had dropped the price the previous Sunday, one day after I purchased my TV at TV Jack's. Well isn't that just typical! At this point I'm thinking I'm probably hosed out of my $300, but I figure I've got nothing to lose. . .so I pick up the phone and call Trey. We had a 2 minute conversation that ended with me heading over to pick up my $300 refund. I was absolutely FLOORED. I honestly didn't expect that from a small, locally owned business. . .but there it was! No arguments, no push-back, just ""hey, I know it stinks when that happens, how about I refund you the difference in price?"". WOW. All I can say is that I will never go anywhere else for my entertainment needs. . .period. Pros: Product Knowledge & Price Guarantee more

Another Victim 3/16/2010

I called TV Jacks and told him my RCA TV turned on and then off again. He said he could fix it for $149 plus a $50 pick up and delivery fee. When he called the same day to tell me that my TV needs a new ""Board"" and his Tech did a nation wide search and could not find the part. I told him why am I being charge the $149 when you could not fix it. His exact words ""in 25 years I would have never said I could fix it for that amount, but you can apply that amount on a new TV."" Why would I buy a new TV from there when they are ALL over priced! Pros: Smooth Talker Cons: Lied and robbed like the others more

How many lies can you count? 1/30/2010

We took our 7 year TV to Jack's get a repair estimate when it began color separating. Trey said 1) it could not be fixed and 2) It was over 6 years old, and they don't make the parts anymore. It only ended up needing one board replaced. 3) He offered to apply the estimate fee to a new purchase or installation, and I asked if that would be toward a new TV, or other items. He said either. 4) We liked one TV, but his sales clerk told us it did not come in the size we wanted. I turned to Trey and said, ""Really?"" and he confirmed this. 5) When I told him I had seen the other size at Best Buy, he claimed his supplier did not carry those sizes. 6) I found the TV MUCH cheaper and came in to have Trey install it. He was furious and shouted that he could have beaten that price (so far, no one in San Diego has) then didn't want to install it. So we agreed to also purchase an additional item from him for installation and he agreed 7) to do both installations for the amount owed us to ""keep our business."" 8) I offered him the installation manual, which he refused, saying his guys knew just what to do. They didn't. They spent 2 hours and 20 minutes READING THE MANUAL to try to figure out how to install it, and we were charged $139. PER HOUR for them to read it. 9) Our credit was never applied. The installers DID NOT calibrate the TV, just hung it on the wall and left, taking away with them the second item we had paid for. 10) We called Trey about the installation overcharge, the failure to credit, the fact that they didn't deliver or install the other part, and the lack of full-hook up and an adequate picture and he claimed 11) the fee was justified as it was new technology they couldn't be required to know, 12) he couldn't fix the lack of credit, and 13) that we had refused the part, which we had already paid for! As for the lack of set up, he told us 14) to call Cox, it wasn't his installers' job to calibrate TVs, just to hang them on the wall We ended up having to pay Cox extra to get them to do Trey's installers job. Then I asked for the other part we had already paid for to hook it up myself, and he insisted 15) he would have his installers come do it as it was their mistake. As the installer left after simply putting the item in place, he said ""Trey said to tell you the money owed you goes towards THIS INSTALLATION"" meaning we paid for a full TV installation price for a glass shelf screwed into the wall.\r \r In short, if you give away a fixable TV, don't check prices, settle for less, want to pay technicians to learn on the job then Cox to fix it, love being repeatedly lied to, or just need a BUNCH more Stress in your life, DO shop at Jack's. Pros: I like to support local small businesses. Cons: I hate getting cheated. Not worth a Part of a Star! more

Horrible Service- Don't go there 12/19/2009

Bit of a long story but worth your time.\r My 2 ½ year old LG 42” Plasma TV lost its picture early November. The LG website listed TV Jack’s in Bonita as an authorized dealer, so I took it into to them on a Saturday to see what it would cost to repair. The TV was out of warranty but I thought if the cost wasn’t too high it would be worth fixing. I was told at that time that there was a non refundable $150+ diagnosis charge that could be applied to the service work or a new TV if I decided it wasn’t worth fixing. Not happy, I went ahead with it anyway (1st mistake). The following week I had to call the service manager Trey several times in order to find out the status. He finally got back to me and said that all it needed was a new power supply and that it would cost about $350+ to repair. That was good news to me considering the unit cost me over 2K when it was new, so I agreed to have him order the part an go ahead. I told him we wanted it as soon as possible as we didn’t want to be without a TV for the Thanksgiving holiday. The following week I hear nothing and then receive word that the part has come in and we should be good to go for the weekend. Just before I come down to pick it up, Trey calls and I am told that after installing the power supply they’ve found it needs a another $300+ part. Not good news. He tells me that there was no way for them to know if there were other issues until they had the power supply. This make reasonable sense but the fact that no mention of this was made before this point made me pretty suspicious. So it looks like I am SOL and will probably need to buy a new TV so I tell them to hold off while I do a little shopping. After checking at Costco and a few other places I call Trey at TV Jacks and he says he’ll sell me a new 42” LG Plasma at a good price and subtract the diagnosis fee from it. Although I regret it now, I went ahead and told him to put one aside and I’d be down later that day (2nd Mistake). Although it was disappointing to have the first unit go out in just a few years, I like the LG brand. In the meantime in my search on Google for an entertainment center for the new TV, I find a thread that talks about how LG has replaced parts for my old TV even though they are out of warranty, so I call the suggested number. Turns out LG are backing this up. This is really good news so at this point it looks like all I’ll have to pay for is the labor to install the parts. Feeling pretty good at this point I drove down to TV Jacks and in the end decided to not only fix the old one but go ahead with the purchase of the new one as well (3rd mistake). My youngest daughter needs a TV and this repaired one would make one hell of a nice early Xmas present. When I tell Trey that LG is covering the cost of the parts he doesn’t seem too excited. The LG representative even sent him the authorization via fax twice and he went on to say that LG was really hard to work with and that they always had to wait to get credit or reimbursement in situations like this. I told him that this is not a customer’s concern. So this was two weeks ago. I have called Trey about 5 or 6 times in the interim and he keeps telling me the part has yet to arrive. At this point I am totally frustrated with him and his poor service. You’d think that after purchasing a new TV he’d be more responsive, but he’s not. I called today again (Saturday Dec 19th) and he tells me his technician is not in so he doesn’t know if the TV is fixed or not. Are you kidding me??? My next step is to call LG. \r Cons: Service dept is inept more

Great service 10/2/2009

My TV went on the fritz and my contract representative forced me to have another company come pick it up to fix it. They had it nearly a month and when they finally brought it back to me, it was still not right. I called TV Jack's and they came out immediately and restored it to near new quality picture without ever taking it out of my house. The 2 guys that came out were friendly, efficient and certainly know there business. I will not have anyone else service the TV again. And if and when I need a new TV, I will buy it from Jack's. Pros: Efficient, courteous and on time more

Jack's The Big Screen Store 10/5/2007

We are totally happy with our purchase of the television and sound system from Jack's. From the professional way the coaxial cable was run and the excess wiring was neatly packaged and tied all the way through the demonstration and instructions on how to get the best performance out of the system; we are beyond totally satisfied.\r \r We can not express enough how happy we are with the complete package. The only visible wires are extremely well ran, we can not envision how anything could have been done any better.\r \r We give Jack's our very highest recommendation. Every person we dealt with from Jack's was very professional and competent. Great people to do business with! \r \r Sincerely, Sharon and Harry Chilton \r Pros: Professional people who know their job. Cons: None. more
