Trinity Boxing Rocks My World 3/26/2010

Trinity Boxing has changed my life. I literally had just moved here from the east coast and was having a difficult time adjusting. I am very into physical fitness and health and am always looking for new forms of workout. In the past I had done everything from dance, yoga, pilates, weight-lifting. However, the warm, family-like feel of Trinity Boxing is incomparable. All the instructors are extremely informed and experts about boxing and overall health, but on top of that, they're unbelievably good-hearted. Everytime I go in there I get the most incredible workout I've ever gotten and I feel rejuvinated and refreshed. I could on forever about the positive physical improvement I've seen since working out there. I've never felt so good physically or mentally, as I do in the past two months, being a member there. Boxing is an amazing way to lose weight and build muscle and you are learning one of the most classic sports at the same time. Although there are a lot of male members of the gym, it is absolutely female friendly. There are a bunch of female members including myself who feel nothing but welcome. There is also a decent group of children members who love it as much as I do. The trainers are phenomenal with the kids and I see how much the kids love coming here. Overall, it is a great environment to lose weight, get in shape, feel good, and enjoy yourself, which in a city this big, is rare. Pros: Great workout that's also a ton of fun! more

Awesome place to workout and have fun! 3/10/2010

Trinity Boxing has become my second home. I started 3 months ago and I can say it has seriously changed my life. Martin, the owner/trainer, makes boxing fun! His positive attitude, knowledge, kindness and diligence makes you feel like you are getting ready for a fight and he is cheering you on from the corner. The workouts are intense and it has dramatically changed my physical as well as mental being. I am an actor, and boxing parallels acting in that you always have to be present, ready to react, you can’t be lost in your head trying to think your way out of the situation. It’s raw and in the now. In acting, you have to breathe, you have to relax, and have equipoise. You have to listen. Boxing is the same. You can’t be tense or you won’t be able to react (listen). You have to be loose (breathe) or the punches won’t snap. It’s about precision and speed and power. It’s the body and mind melding and it’s a great exercise for acting.\r Trinity is always a blast! I never liked going to the gym because it’s not fun. Trinity is always fun. Whether I’m joking with the other trainers, Matt and Eddie, or talking to some of the other members like Riva or Steve, everybody has a great attitude. \r I was really nervous at first joining a boxing gym because I thought “I’m gonna get my ass kicked, they are all going to laugh at me.” But that wasn’t the case at all. You don’t spar unless you want to. Even then they don’t hit you full out. It’s just about getting a great workout and working on your technique. \r I suggest everybody go in for a trial session. That’s what I did and I was hooked. It’s also a great way to let out tension. I know my agent has taken a few punches in the face in that gym ;). Hope this review helps. Look for me when you come in…I’ll be there. \r Pros: Great Workout, Cool People! more

Love this place! 9/18/2009

Trinity Boxing Club is the best workout i have been part of in a long time. This place is great. Martin is the owner / trainer. This guy gets you going. He is a honest funny soul, but can get your butt in gear and work you out hard!. The best thing is that an hour and a half has gone by and it has felt like 15 minutes. The workouts tend to be non stop, with many short breaks (breathing time) in between. You condition, train and workout like a professional boxer would, only you're not getting punched at! (well at least I'm not!) The workouts consist of many different things. The thing I love most about this place is everyday is different from the next. We start by warming up, jumping rope, then moving into a full on sweaty exercise. The workouts can include any and all of the following depending what Martin has in store: bag work, ring workouts, machine workouts, outside in the alley workouts. For example yesterday we did intervals of punches and jumping jacks, then we got in the ring for 4 rounds of non stop (16mins.) where we threw punches in the air, sit ups, crunches, push ups, jumping jacks, chasing the rabbit / mountain climbers, v-ups, grasshoppers, speed skate motion, running in place, circling the ring right and left, and then collapsing.. From the ring we went outside and paired into teams where one person is in a rubber band trying to run, while the other is holding you back. after this we cooled down by doing more bag work. all this in 1 hour. that's just one day. other days, we have split into teams doing relay team type conditioning, to days where i have been alone and Martin working me out hardcore in the ring. I have pushed a car up and down an alley, played tug a war, pushed a wheel barrel with 2 big sandbags in it.. to doing workouts as simple as doing Isometrics with only my own personal weight. There are machines and kettle bells, and ropes. Its like I said, great and always different, this is not a workout, place, or lifestyle you get bored with. With the unlimited monthly training (one of martins options) you can come and go as you please, and always be guaranteed a healthy workout full of results. Martin is an excellent coach. And the people working out at the club are diverse and good positive energy. We all love to come. I never thought i would think of sit ups as relaxing... and actually feel guilty if i didn't make it in at least 3 days a week. In the three months i have been coming, I have lost weight, I feel so full of energy and health and I have abs again!!!! I highly recommend this place! more

Home away from home 10/9/2007

What an amazing place! The people and the facility are incredible; the accomodations were excellent, it felt like a resort. I stayed at the camp in preparation for a boxing tournament and felt at home the minute I walked in..all the stresses of the outside world just melted away and I could focus on training. One person guided the boxing, and another took care of the nutrition. In the mornigs I took advantage of the hills in the neighborhood for running, then would go through the boxing workout. After the workout, I would relax on the deck overlooking LA. It was a great place to get focused, and had no problems making weight thanks to the great food preparation. I left LA more fit than I expected - a few pounds lighter, stronger, happier and National PAL Champion! I highly recommend this place whether you want to try out the boxing or just want a comfortable place to stay while in LA. Pros: ambiance, boxing facility, staff more
