Trini & Carmens Waterford

We had a party of 9 for a birthday lunch and should have known things would go bad when they gave us a newbie waitress. Either she doesn't know how to write, or the cooks don't know how to read because only a few of the orders came out right. One of my coworkers was charged for the cheese that they put on top of her lunch without her actually asking for it in the first place. Another was told that her meal wasn't supposed to contain cheese, when the person sitting next to her had the same exact dish with cheese in it! The birthday person had to get her lunch to go because it hadn't come out an HOUR later! Supposedly the owner himself was making her lunch...how long does it actually take to make a beef & bean nacho?!? He then had the gall to justify the bad service by accusing someone in our party of disrespecting the waitress, but wouldn't say who or how that occurred. The venue itself is wanting in terms of ambiance, but what really killed this experience wasnt the average food, it was the terrible service. Trini and Carmens is clearly understaffed and the wait staff does little to make up for the slow service. They are rude, ignoring your questions, and very slow. I will never be returning to eat here, I will also advise you to not waste your time. more

Five of us went here last night and 2 were vegetarians. We specifically told the waitress (who was the only one working at that time servicing all the tables) that the 2 orders were with only refried beans and no meat - and she reassured us that the beans were vegetarian. When the plates finally arrived piled high with shredded lettuce, my husband proceeded to eat until he started making choking sounds and pointed to his plate - it was full of ground beef under all the lettuce and when I was finally able to get the waitress over after frantically waving for her as she walked by and kept walking past us dismissing me -she was immediately defensive and dismissive - like its no big deal and that she would simply replace both veg meals. more

this is in response to ginger you snap when you decided to diss on trini and carmens, first of all they have always charged for extra chips we have bin going to that location for years and it has always said that on the menu. second we always get free refills clearly you have a budget problem and need to stay going through the taco bell drive through. more

I always look forward to coming back to Trini & Carmen's. It is a long drive for me, but well worth it. For starters, you get complimentary fresh chips and salsa, both superb. Sometimes the chips are still warm from being fresh from the oven. I have yet to find a Mexican restaurant with better food, and I have tried mightily - including Mex Town. My favorite is the big steak burrito, but all of the food is great. The only negative I can come up with is the condition of the building and decor; they really should renovate as it is a bit dumpy. I'm more concerned with the quality of the food and service though, so I'm not too concerned with the building. Pros: Great food at reasonable prices & excellent service Cons: I always eat too much & the building needs a makeover more

The food at Trini and Carmen's is great in my opinion. Their Salsa in particular is the best I've had at any Mexican resturant. The home made chips are also great. Too many places serve what appears to be bulk chips bought from Gordon Foods. They are OK but not as good as home made. I am a vegetarian and appreciate having some variety in what I can order. I especially like the burritos and tostadas. The vast majority of the time that I have been there, the place has been clean and the wait staff very friendly. Once in a while on a Friday when there is a line out the door, the floor can get a little dirty but that is far from the norm. It was recently remodeled with new chairs and booths as well as completely repainted. The pricing is very reasonable. It costs me less to have dinner there than to go to a sit down burger place and eat salad. Pros: Great Food and friendly atmosphere more

listen folks, from pontiac, to troy,to the express in waterford, i have moved all over the area and always find my way back. tomorrow, i drive from brighton to meet my parents from washington twp. my day off, but i cannot miss out on the hot salsa, or the nachos. 5:30 for dinner, cant wait. a classic, what else can you say??? thanks to you all, carry on. i fell in love with trini's many years ago after many bad mexican food experiences. the food is fresh and delicious. the people are friendly and prompt. the nachos, guacamole and fajitas are the best around! i never judge a book by its cover. some of the biggest hole-in-the-wall restaurants are the best kept secrets. but personally, i love all the artwork and knickknacks at trini and carmen's. any one who has a bad experience here needs to give this restaurant a second shot!! or not.......and that will just be less of a wait for a table for the rest of us trini and carmen lovers!! more

If you love Mexican Food, try this place. I am never disappointed. They have the BEST nachos on town. The price is good and you get a lot for your money. The chicken tacos and rice are fantastic and so are the margaritas! They always have a lot of waitstaff, so you don't have sit there wondeinrg when somebody will come and serve you. It is right across the street from the Flea Market, if you are in the area, stop by, you'll be glad you did. more

i have been a fan of trini's since 1990. the food and service has always been exceptional. i travel 45 minutes to an hour in rush hour knowing i shall be enjoying the wonderful food and atmosphere that is trini's. i have sampled many of the hot salas that are served in the mexican joints here in michigan, and trini's wins hands down! i have a friend who lives in florida and i freeze the salsa and overnite it to him. they are by far one of the BEST places i have ever come across for good food, people, and salsa!!! i shall continue making my weekly trips out there. more

I absolutely love trini and carmens. That gingersnap lady has no idea what in the world she is talking about. I have never had a problem there, and if i did the good service took care of it immediatly. I have no idea who she thinks she is if she doesnt like it.. go to mexico where the restaurants will have more then just a little bit of paper on the floor. first of all to all those who are rating my families restaurant a drag can look in the mirror AND SEE REAL TRASH. My family are millionaires who not only invest and give back to our communities and charities but also find it important to feel a family atmosphere while eating real authentic and GREAT food. Im glad to here that gingersnapp whatever the screen name is does not return. We don't like negative but would rather constructive criticism in our atmosphere. Haters WE love. Wow...what an utter disappointment this place was! First off, we were shown our table by walking over a floor strewn with food, pieces of paper napkins, etc....it looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in days! We then sat at our both that had torn vinyl cushions. Not small little tears but gashes. I looked around and all the booths were torn to shreds and looked 20 years old. Our waitress was braindead and spoke in a monotone voice. We were served our chips/salsa and water and waited another 15 minutes before our waitress even showed up. We ordered our meals and waited. When our waitress walked by again 15 minutes after that I asked for a refill our our drinks and water. Food arrived another 10 minutes after that. All in all the food was okay...nothing great. I ordered chicken in my burrito and taco but there was little of that as it was mostly stuffed with beans and cheese. When we got the bill I was SHOCKED to see that I had been CHARGED for the second basket of chips($1.50)...what a ripoff. I did not see it on the menu and was not told off it what I asked for another basket. Seriously, the tradition is free chips at Mexican places...don't be all cheap and start charging for extra baskets..and if you do at least be clear about it. I was also charged for chili on my nephews burrito(she asked, "Do you want chili on top?" to him again never saying there was and extra charge)...also was charged for the second refills on the pops(again, very cheap of them...a glass of pop is like 5 cents of cost....). Between the average food, average service, absolutely filthy conditions of the dining area I won't be back. Add the fact that they nickle and dimed me for such stupid things I'll make sure I let everyone know what a dump this place is. more

Trini & Carmen's has been around a long time. They have a full selcetion of Mexican food. My favorite are the Nachos. The staff is usually very friendly. The decor is interesting. The margaritas were great! more

This is a great mexican restaurant. Their guacamole dip is yummy as well as the rest of the food. Now about their nachos, good yes, but the only negative thing i have to say about that is that there is only cheese on top and they give you lots of chips you would expect most of the chips to cheesed up but the type of cheese they put on can be pulled off on top and reveal a bunch of chips. I do love the place though I usually get the fajitas for two with my husband or deal with the nachos (chicken) they really are yummy. Pros: Never had to wait for a seat Cons: on one night they have mexican guys go around to tables and sing music in front of everyone lol more

I visited Trini & Carmen's Waterford location on a Thursday night. It wasn't crowded, but the atmosphere was lovely. The waitress was very friendly as well as the other workers that were there. The chips they brought to the table were warm and HOMEMADE!!!!!!. A definte must have. We ordered the Super nacho. It was beautiful, but when we begin to eat, there was not enough meat for the amount of chips that was on the plate. We thought all of us (3) would be able to eat and get full. That would've been the case if the nacho wasn't all chips. We won't EVER order that again. We then ordered the Fajitas for two with steak & chicken. It was WONDERFUL!!! There was enough meat, vegetables, everything. The vegetables were cooked to perfection. I most likely will return, just not to get a nacho. The "Nacho Supreme" is the best in the state. Family owned, all the food is homemade. more
