Always a Pleasure to visit this Treasure! 10/28/2009

What a great place to ride and learn! It is obvious that the people at TES love what they do, they adore their horses and must at least like people a lot too! From the old to the young, their doors are open to people of all ages. They obviously take pride in what they do and it shows! Pros: All around wonderful experience! more

Great horses and trainers 10/14/2009

I'd ridden on and off since I was a kid, but had been ""off"" for a number of years when I went to TES. And, it's not quite as easy getting on a horse and having everything ""come back"" like it is on a bicycle. The trainers are great. Patient, knowledgeable and they make the time spent there fun. You get a horse that's fresh and suited to your ability. This is the best place in L.A. to learn to ride. Pros: it's all good Cons: nothing more

Great School, Beautiful Horses, Good Times! 5/1/2009

I look forward to my lessons at TES. The instructors and staff are knowledgeable and friendly and the horses are always a joy to ride! more

The best place to learn to ride in LA! 4/30/2009

This is the best place around to learn to ride, whether you're a beginner or an advanced student, whether you're 6 or 60! The instructors are sensitive to your abilities and are able to take you to the next level of training. But don't grow too attached to those fabulous school horses!!! Pros: Great instructors, great staff, great horses Cons: Sometimes the weather in Burbank.... more

TES is the best! 4/29/2009

I have been riding at TES for around four years now and consider myself so lucky to have found it on-line. I started riding 18 years ago and have been a part of different barns all over California - TES is by far my favorite. Their program is excellent for people of all ages and levels of riding including those who have never been on a horse before. They offer classes in hunter/jumper, dressage, western - they even have a fun drill team and a bareback class! Their variety of horses and ponies is unbeatable, I currently am in love with about 5 of them. The staff and working students couldn't be more wonderful - they are always very helpful, friendly and understanding. I have found that TES really goes above and beyond any other barn I've ridden at by offering schooling shows to people of all levels, fun game days, day camp for youngsters, lots of clinics and great lectures. The staff is extremely dedicated to their client's education and understanding of all things horses. I'm extremely grateful for this amazing barn, it's a second home to me! Pros: Best horses, and amazing trainers more

Great people and Great horses 4/28/2009

As an adult, I am a little different demographic for the usual equestrian student, but no one at TES has ever made me feel that way. My instructor has taken the time to get to know how I learn, and has utilized it. I am progressing at my own pace, and loving every minute of it. The people that work at TES are so friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to work with you, it seems like a family. My favorite part about this school is how they teach you ALL aspects of horsemanship. I didn't want a pre-made horse waiting for me, all tacked up and ready to go. I feel like the experience I get with my school horse every week before and after my lesson when I groom and tack the horse, makes my entire time there so much more interesting, valuable, and fun. As a newbie, it has given me the opportunity to learn horse behavior that I was never aware of before. Such amazing animals.... I recommend this school to anyone looking to learn how to ride. You'll get what you pay for. Pros: friendly people, well rounded horses, great instructors Cons: I can't think of any! more

THE Place to Learn and Ride in L.A. 4/28/2009

My daughter and I have ridden at four different schools over the last 20 years. None come close to the experience and professionalism of Tradional Equitation School aka T.E.S. Pros: The whole horse Cons: Can't think of any more

I love this place 4/28/2009

I love this place! The people and horses are all so great. There are tons of horses to choose from, so you can never run out. There is lots of student tack in case you don't own any and everything is super organized. My lessons are so fun and are the best part of my week. the instructors are really nice and just care about the rider's safety and comfort. There are always numerous volunteers around to help you with whatever you need and the best thing of all... is that there is a mechanical horse named Amerika that is kept in an air conditioned room that students can ride on occasion when it is too hot outside! This place has it all and is a great place to learn! Pros: The horses and instructors rock Cons: None so far more

Horseback Riding in Los Angeles 4/23/2009

I wanted to get into horseback riding again and went to the Traditional Equitation School barn at the LA Equestrian center, adjacent to Griffith Park. I live in West Hollywood and the location is easy to get to and convenient. The teachers are helpful, patient and helped me to feel more safe. I feel more confident because I have been able to work past fears and do things that I did not think were possible. Just about all the ponies can be ridden either English or Western and many of them jump and can be ridden on trails. I have had an amazing experience and would recommend it to all ages. Pros: Great horses and teachers -and cheap! more

The ART of RIDING 4/22/2009

Upon entering the gates of the Los Angeles Equestrian Center leading to the Traditional Equitation School, (TES), one is immediately welcomed into the mystical and magical world of the horse and all its glory. From the novice rider who has never been on a horse to the skilled dressage masters, TES offers a vast array of equestrian disciplines taught by a faculty of hip, accomplished instructors who work passionaltely with students to guide them in attaining their personal riding goals. Pros: Extraordinary, hip, highly skilled instructors more

Best place to ride in LA 4/20/2009

TES is a great facility that really has something for everyone. Few places can really truly cater to a wide range of ages, rider levels, and disciplines, but TES can. That fact that's it's located in Los Angeles makes it even more unique! They really teach you how to communicate with the horse, and how to take care of it. I highly recommend it! If you're looking for a great facility to go horseback riding, this is it! Pros: Variety of services more

HORSE BACK RIDING IN LOS ANGELES -- FABULOUS PLACE TO LEARN 4/18/2009

I started riding seven years ago as an adult and can't say enough good things about this riding school, located in the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, adjacent to Griffith Park. The teachers are patient, talented, and safety minded, the horses well cared for, and the prices reasonable. Whether you are an adult or a child, this is an excellent place to learn to ride or brush up on your riding skills. English and Western riding are both taught. There are also school shows and other fun equine events. It's a real community -- very welcoming to those just starting out. Pros: Lovely facilities, great instructors, excellent horses more

Best school I've been to 4/17/2009

I grew up horseback riding in summer camps and didn't ride when I first got to Los Angeles. But I realized one summer that I really wanted to get back into it, and TES was the only place I visited. I knew right away that I wanted to be part of this very friendly and helpful community. It's located in the beautiful L.A. Equestrian Center, it's cheap (especially for the great quality lessons you'll be getting!) and they do EVERYTHING. I ride English, mostly jumping with a little bit of dressage, but if I'd like to try some western riding, there's that too. There are great trails nearby, the horses are awesome, and there is a TON of opportunity to learn more if you want to go beyond your lessons. The first thing I noticed when I visited the first time was how friendly everyone is. It can be hard to find a good barn that also has an especially friendly community and THIS IS IT. It is my favorite place to be in L.A. and it is a great place to ride for anyone from very newest beginner to advanced! Pros: Friendly people, great horses, lots of learning opps more

Great place to learn to ride! 4/17/2009

I rode English growing up and took many years off. Last year I decided that I wanted to take lessons again and I was lucky to find TES. I have learned so much, not just about riding, but also about caring for the horses. I think it would be hard to find a better barn in LA for all around training. TES has horses suitable for all levels and experienced trainers who are great with riders of every discipline. They also have a wonderful summer camp for kids. Pros: Gentle horses and great instructors more

Learn to Ride at Traditional Equitation School 4/15/2009

Ever since riding in Griffith Park as a child, I have loved horses and horseback riding (both English and Western). When I looked into taking lessons I realized there were very few places in the Los Angeles area that actually offered actual lessons (not just a horseback ride for an hour). A friend recommended Traditional Equitation School located in the Los Angeles Equestrian Center and it has become my home away from home ever since! The Traditional Equitation School (TES) owns horses that are suited for all levels of riders and for a variety of disciplines, including jumping and dressage. The instructors are experienced and knowledgeable and to me, one of the best parts is you are taught to groom and tack your own horse. TES offers many programs ranging from group lessons to leasing a horse and with so many horses and instructors, they are able to accommodate most work and school schedules. Pros: Best Place in Los Angeles to learn to ride Cons: I have to work and can't take lessons all day more

Lets' ride.... 2/21/2007

This place is wonderful, the staff is eclectic and great for any ability level. I took a break from riding for about 15 years and was apprehensive about starting back up but these folk helped me through the process, not stuck-up like I thought they would be. The reception staff can be a little scatter-brained but all the teachers are wonderful. Pros: Great staff, great horses Cons: Literally just off the highway. more

Wonderful instructors 5/21/2002

I have taken riding lessons here, as an adult. The instructors are very safety minded, but fun, and the horses are great! I felt very comfortable learning to ride here. The stable is very clean and orderly, and the animals are well-cared for. more
