Unprofessional and rude customer service. On top of that, they will pounce on every opportunity to take your money and charge you. Worst rental company I have ever encountered. Read all the other reviews online and you will see many others feel the same. Read their BBB complaints as well! I seriously hope they go out of business in the near future. I feel bad for all the students and families that have been victims to their selfish ways. more

After renting from 3 other property management firms in the NRV - Townside was the absolutely worst. Be sure to take photos of EVERYTHING before you move in. They'll charge you for things that weren't there when you moved in. We went for 3 weeks in August without AC, with no reduction in rent - apparently there's a clause in your lease stating they don't have to do anything. Worst move out procedures - will take every penny from you and no one will speak to you about it - everything has to be submitted in writing and you wait to hear from them. When we first looked @ the property we were told the newer appliances were to remain - BIG FAT LIE - we got stuck with a washer and dryer from the early '80s. When we called the office - they told us the guy who showed us the property no longer worked there. So they didn't have to do anything. I would advise everyone to avoid Townside at all costs. more

They proved to us what is called the horrible living experience! I will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER rent a house from them! The front desk treated you as if you are not a respectable person, she is rude and unhelpful. I even don't want to put a single star for the rating for this company. more

Working with Townside has been the worst rental company experience I've ever had (this is the fourth company I've rented from) and I haven't even moved in yet. The people I was in contact with were rude, not helpful, lazy and curt. They made no effort to right a wrong that they created concerning my move in date. While I have yet to experience any of the other parts of their business besides the customer service, I will say that their customer service was extremely lacking. Not satisfied. more

Townside is the third and by far the best rental company I have used in Blacksburg to manage the rental of my house. They have always found good tenants and ensured the property was rented. They promptly send rental payments and do not attempt to make a profit on repairs. Well organized, honest, and responsive, they have been great. more

So many reasons, here are a few: 1- Townside invent many reasons to get more deposit from you. I renewed my lease, and Townside did an inspection check for renewal and found nothing wrong, but Townside still asked for $530 additional deposit. 2- Staff is very rude. My friend and I (living in 2 different units managed by Townside) talked to a middle-aged chubby woman (no offense). She was very rude, so we demanded to talk to the manager, and she kept refusing to do that. Finally, she gave out a phone number to contact, and she is the one who answered that number. What bothered me most is that the rest of the office witnessed the matter and ignored it completely. 3- Maintenance takes long to get done, and it has to sound "emergency" or "urgent" to get done sooner (according to the middle-aged woman). 4- I wanted to sublease one of the room, and people came, checked it out and liked the place but once hearing of Townside, they just dropped it. more

It takes several weeks for a problem to be fixed. Unless you make it sound like an emergency. The staff is the rudest I've worked with. Make sure you note all damages on initial inspection report. They will screw you. The "rumors" they talk about exist for a reason...because they are facts. more

Contrary to the rumors, Townside Realtors is a great company to lease from. They respond quickly to maintenance requests and rent is reasonable. Everything is explained explicitly in their lease should conflict occur. The staff is friendly. Because they are not an on-site company, you don't have to feel like you are under the watchful eye of the management. They pay back security deposits in a timely manner and charge fairly. more
