town spa 5/30/2007

Lived in stoughton 40 yrs. When town Spa moved to new location they did not take old ovens. They have an automated system that cranks out pizza's whether or not they are cooked all the way through! I have asked for well done pizza, bacuse of this, but the pizza come out burnted! I have not had a town Spa pizza for years! Run do not walk to yhe Lynnwood pizza, at the randolph/holbrook line. This is the original town spa reciepe, They have the old fashioned blodget ovens, the best pizza around! Cons: under done pizza more

Better than anything in LA 2/4/2007

Wow. I can't believe how spoiled some of those people writing bad reviews of the Town Spa pizza are. I'm a transplanted Stoughtonite living outside Los Angeles and there is nothing in or around Los Angeles that even comes close to Town Spa pizza. You guys are so spoiled. The best we have here is that doughy mess from Pizza Hut or cardboard pizza from Little Ceasar's. If I was granted three wishes, after world peace then next one would be to have someone open a Town Spa pizza place in the Los Angeles area. more

More than a restaurant...a local landmark and institution 8/21/2006

Few teen memories are as indelibly etched in my memory as those early Thursdays when we would head over to the Spa in the town center before it moved down the road towards Easton. It did move, and some people said that the ovens weren't quite the same, but I am yet to find a pizza experience that I find more enjoyable. You start by splitting a large fry (with a bizarre mixture of parmesan and ketchup on the plate) and battle with your friend to see who can eat more than the other. This is followed by the pizza....simply magic. It's best to know when the veterans are working in the kitchen too. It could be that they start the 4pm shift, so 4:30-5pm could be a really good time to catch them before it gets too busy. The innovation of putting a buffalo pizza on the menu and making the sauce in the crust spicy rather than a few skinny pieces of chicken, by the way, was pure genius. There must be a creation myth behind this one akin to Newton taking a knock on the head by the apple. Paying in cash may be vexing at times, but if the Spa meal is that good then you do whatever you have to do to make that one happen. I've brought friends from all over (and by all over I mean well beyond the Hockomock league) and they all rave about the place. Love it and wish I had a spa meal right now! more

Town Spa Pizza 7/13/2006

I grew up in Sharon, MA, next town to Stoughton. Every Sunday night my dad would get pizza to go from the Town Spa. It was the BEST. I always looked forward to it.\r \r I now live on the North Shore but plan to go back to the Town Spa soon. Pros: Great Pizza. Other things on menu are good as well. more

Good Bar Pizza, used to be Great 7/5/2006

The pies here are good, they used to be great. The prices have gone up to levels that pretty high for a small 10"" bar style pizza. The crust is also thinner than it used to be.\r \r Its still a place I go to from time to time, as its tasty. Go here, but if you are searching for the very best bar style try Lynwood Cafe in Randolph or Cape Cod Cafe in Brockton first. more

Worth the trip even if you're not a local! 1/19/2006

You can always tell by the number of reviews how popular a place is... and town spa is popular for a reason! If you like garlic, the garlic pizza is a must. Even if you're not in the mood for pizza, all their other dishes are wonderful as well. Pros: great value, good service, the PIZZA Cons: blah atmosphere more

The best Pizza 7/11/2005

This is the ultimate place to go for pizza! I live 30-45 mins away and will travel whenever I have a craving!! I have been getting pizza from here ever since I was a little kid. Instead of being excited about McDonald's or Friendly's...when my Dad said he was bringing home Town Spa for supper we were sooo psyched!! more

A Classic... 4/21/2005

I've lived in Stoughton my whole life. This is a great place for people of all ages to come and hang out. On early-release days in town, kids go there to enjoy the delicious food. If you're in town, try it for lunch. Their Greek salads are amazing. Expect long waits depending on time. Prices are very reasonable. Pros: Price, Pizza, Salads Cons: Wait time more

Cheap: You get what you pay for. 2/25/2005

After reading the reviews on CitySearch I went to try Town Spa for myself and was greatly disappointed. The fries were undercooked and soft. The pizza while not bad, was not very good and below average. The service took a lot longer then a casual dining place of it's type should, although admittedly it was a crowded night. It does seem like a great place to bring a bunch of hungry buddies as it's menu seems very well tailored to groups. Overall, I really don't find myself passing along a strong recommendation, although it's prices are quite compelling. But if great pizza is what you seek, you're going to have to head to the city. Pros: Cheap, Group Dining Cons: Bad Ambience, Mediocre food, Very busy times more

the greatest pizza 1/20/2005

the town spa is the best pizza i have ever ate. i have eaten it now for over 21 years now and i still always get cravings for it. my children love it and crave it as well. go try it you will not be sorry. sincerely, coleen Pros: inexpensive, delicious pizza, great greek salads more

Great Place 6/14/2004

I go to school less than 10 minutes from the Town Spa, which can be both good and bad! In order to avoid waits, make sure you go before 5 or after 7:30-8 on weekends. Week nights you are usually ok. If you are there during the peak hours, sometimes the pizza is not the best, not cooked to full crispness, so make sure you ask for the pizza well done and your guarenteed to get the best pizza in the area! Drinks are inexpensive and the pizzas are also a good value. They do serve other food, which is good, but make sure your first trip you get one of their awesome pizzas! more

Best Pizza in New England 2/5/2004

Try the garlic pizza mmmm, or any other variety. My wife and I LOVE this place. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. How often have you seen a line to get a table at other area pizza joints, well that alone speaks volumes about the offerings at Town Spa. more

real pizza 12/11/2003

Town Spa is better than average but how can you rate pizza in New England without including Cape Cod Cafe, Brockton MA?????? I freeze it and take it back to Colorado with me. By the way, Denver don't know Pizza!!! Pros: real bar pizza, consistant quality Cons: too crowded on weeken, off the beaten path more

Pizza at it's best 10/19/2003

I live in a small town about a half hour from Santapio's Pizza. And I believe it is deffinately worth driving all the way there to get their pizza. All their food is freshly made from the toppings to the sauce to the pizza crust. The perfect amount cheese is placed on the crust along with the toppings and the sauce is placed on top making it a tasty combination that is not seen anywhere eles. When you have people waiting outside in the freezing cold for hours just to get in thats when you know you have a delicious pizza. The waiters/ess can be rude but only if you prevoke them to. They add to the atmosphere which the small resturante brings. Pros: best pizza, inexpensive, worth the wait more

great pizza! 7/7/2003

My Husband introduced me to town spa. I can't get enough of it! It is great pizza! The buffalo chicken pizza rocks! more

Best Pizza in MA 6/5/2003

Town Spa is not the nicest place in terms of location and ambience, but the pizza is worth the drive from Boston. The Cheeseburger club is also phenomenal! And you can't beat the price. Pros: taste, price Cons: location more

best pizza ever! 3/7/2003

The pizza at Town Spa is by far the best thin crust pizza that I have ever eaten. The crust is incredibly tasty and the sauce has a magic of it's own! The combination along with the cheese makes it simply mouthwatering. You will be hooked after your first bite! I only wish that they had a fedex service for shipping it since I now live in Chicago. Pros: best pizza ever! Cons: no fedex service more

Bring back the old recipe! 3/7/2003

I've been in Stoughton for 25+ years and fell in love w/Town Spa pizza when they were at the corner of Rose & Porters Streets. The pizza just hasn't been the same since they moved to 138. Their great reputation followed them but people agree, ""its just not the same"" and a lot of die hard patrons have gone elsewhere. I found a great pizza joint tucked into the corner of a particular local shopping plaza. Hardly anyone knows its there! No alcohol-no frills but the PIZZA is PERFECTO! Get out there and find it! more
