Not as good as it looks 8/18/2009

The food is so over priced and bland. Probably to pay for the decoration. You know they don't even use garlic, and claim they are Italian. On one trip my mother had the warm crab cake which came out cold. She sent it back to get warmed up, and one of the owners brought it back and said that was how it was supposed to be, he was very rude about it. We also got drinks from the bar which we couldn't even drink. I would not waste my money. Too much hype for nothing. Save your time & money. Go somewhere else. I would have given no stars but it wouldn't let me. Pros: None Cons: Over priced more

Taken at Lunch 6/15/2009

We stopped for lunch around 2:30pm on Saturday. It turns out we were given the dinner menu as I discovered today when visiting their Web site. The waitress was giving us the hard-sell on the more expensive items. We had pasta, paid more than we planned for lunch and left. The food was good but expensive for lunch. Basically, I don't like being taken. We probably won't be back. Pros: Good food and decor Cons: Watch what menu you are given more

Toscana 52 is Like a trip to Tuscany! 3/3/2009

The architecture of Toscana 52 alone is worth the trip. A huge Tuscan villa right on street road; Who would have imagined. The food is amazing, I love the 52 concept. I'm native Italian from Abruzzo & they made specialties like home spaghetti alla chitarra & scripelle. Wow! I haven't seen scripelle since I was in Abruzzo a few years ago. Pros: 52 menu, atmosphere, homemade pasta Cons: crowded more

Overpriced and abusive. 2/28/2009

A family style restaurant? Are you kidding me? It felt like it was owned by a Mussolini family. We got yelled at and pushed around 3 different tables. After that - the food didn't matter, but it was not good enough to justify the abuse. And - EXPENSIVE. AVOID! Pros: none Cons: bad maners more

Lives up to the hype! 2/28/2009

I must say this is my favorite restaurant. I enjoy the 52 menus each week as well as the crusted filets. They have a selection of crusts such as gorgonzola cheese, pepper mustard & wasbai that you can top your filet with. Dont miss dessert either. more

Very Impressive authentic Italian 2/28/2009

Went to Toscana 52 on the reccomendation of a friend & was very impressed. They have a new menu each week which covers the cuisine & wine of an Italian or European city. It was very aithentic, I went during the Venice Carnevale week & they had Risi e bisi & Fegato alla Veneziana. Both dishes that I had when I was in Venice. Very Impressive. Deep Italian wine by the glass & bottle list. Toscana 52 may just be my new steady spot. Pros: homemade pasta menu more

Authentic and Complex 2/24/2009

I?ve had the shrimp over fresh linguini in a white sauce which was sweet and the seafood more fresh than what I can find at the grocery store. There is also a spectacular burger of Kobe beef filled with four cheeses. Some of the dishes too complicated for the casual diner and all of the dishes are titled in Italian, so one usually ends up pointing (but this does speak to the authenticity of the menu). Wonderful ambience, but come early because the Valentine?s Day wait was over two hours for a table. Pros: Authentic, great ambience, very fresh Cons: No reservations, pricey, overly complex dishes more

alimento italiano autentico eccellente ed ospitalita 1/16/2009

Moderate prices, wonderful ambiance and decor, truly excellent food and top notch service. I highly recommend this restaurant. I am an Italian American who has travelled the world since childhood. You can bet your last dollar that I know good food. If you are disappointed with Toscana 52 then you are probably someone you really likes the "all you can eat" Chinese buffet. Before I went there with my wife, my Dad, two nieces, my brother and his wife, I read lots of reviews. Only one reviewer had something negative to say. I figured she was the quintessential bridezilla. There were seven in my party. We ordered five appetizers and shared. Two of us had an alcoholic beverage; everyone else had soda or ice tea. Of course, we all had an entree and coffee afterward. The bill was about $208.00. Include the tip and it comes to about $35.00 per person. Some people may think that's a lot of money for lunch and others may think it's downright cheap. That's all relative. Our little group goes out for lunch regularly and we are always trying different Italian restaurants. There are great places to eat in and around Philadelphia and many serve generous portions and are less expensive than this but all of us agreed that the few extra dollars were well worth the experience. Final note: Call ahead for a reservation if you plan on going on a weekend night. This place is usually packed solid and for good reason. more

good food, service, nice place 11/30/2008

I went there with 6 adults and one toddler. Everything was good, service was excellent (although my wife knew the waiter from several years ago, it didn't look like that was why the service was good). I really enjoyed the food. I would go back without hesitation. Pros: food, service Cons: none more
