Great Atmosphere, Food and Service 7/5/2010

OK....I bought an engagement ring for my girl and got it on Friday before July 4th (Saturday). I decided that I could not wait to propose to her. I decided to go to Tosca's since she loved the place. We went there for our first year anniversary. I called them on Friday to make reservations and asked if they could help me with making the moment special. They instructed me to call back the next day and speak with he manager Chris. I did so the next day and we worked out a few of the details. When I got there we were seated in a cozy corner of the restaurant. I told my girl that I needed to speak with the manager for a minute and walked over to give him the ring. I sat down again and my girl told me that she had to go to the ladies room for a minute. The waiter came over and confirmed how I wanted to have the surprise to go down. They delivered the ring in a soup terrine/bowl with a lid on it as an appetizer. When the lid was lifted, the ring box was seated in a bed of rose petals. My now fiancé was stunned and very moved. I am very grateful to Tosca's employees and management for their assistance in short notice with little input from me. They did a great service to me and most specially my fiancé. I recommend the restaurant to anyone. Pros: Great staff that provides a great service Cons: Cost but well worth the money more

Dependable 11/16/2009

I have been here a half dozen times in th epast year and each time it has been consistent and well done. Beautiful space, great bar, and food is excellent. I think the prices are fair too. The chicken under a brick is a rela winner. more

Great food, Beautiful Ambiance, Wonderful Dining Experience 10/17/2008

The first thing that you notice when you enter the restaurant is the smell of the wood that fires the oven. \r The restaurant is a quaint old building that has been converted into a magnificent space for entertaining.\r \r I have rarely enjoyed a meal as much as I enjoyed my lobster schnitzel with broiled pumpkin & squash.\r The broiled cauliflower and vegetables gave the entree a delightful pop that helps balance the richness of the lobster. \r \r The wood fired pizza was an excellent starter and was crispy and deliciously drizzled with walnut oil.\r this was a delightful starter.\r \r We were there on a Wednesday night for a business meeting and would recommend this place to anyone interested in a great restaurant for a date or for a meeting (Weekends are most likely loud and busy for a business dinner)\r Tab was $280 with 2 bottles of wine and a nice tip\r \r Entree I chose was $33.00 and most were $23.00 and up.\r \r Was a beautiful place with great food.\r A++ Pros: Great food, Nice ambiance, Friendly staff, Reserved online with OpenTable Cons: Bit of a drive outside boston but worth every minuite. more

Very impressed with themselves - why? 2/2/2007

We brought a multi-generational group to dine at Tosca, based on the reviews. The food was good, but not anything to go overboard about. The maitre d' and waitstaff were very distant - as if they were doing us a favor by deigning to serve us. Very poor evening out for the money. If you come across my other reviews, you'll find I'm not a snarky person. Here, I've simply told it as it happened. We haven't been back and don't intend to, ever. Pros: None I can remember Cons: Apparent aversion to Asian clientele, NOISY! Snotty maitre d' more

Dining Exactly the way it should be. 11/25/2006

I love it. It continues to impress me even after being a regular customer for over 4 years. Each season the menu changes and Chef Long, who I adore, is always tracking down the freshest locally farmed ingredients he can. I know Kevin well because I like to sit at the open kitchen. It continues to amaze me. Besides, its a gorgeous space. I highly recommend it . Pros: Free Parking; gorgeous room; attentive service; remarkable food. Cons: I live in Boston ....but its worth the ride. more
