I would give a lower rating if it was offered. I am stranded in California because of Tony's work. My vehicle is a 2001 Isuzu Trooper. Tony worked on it in September, October, Nov...

To cut to the chase, I will definitely be coming back here. They are quick, reliable, nice, and HONEST. \r \r Quick: I took my car in for several repairs late Monday. The car was ready Wednesday. \r \r Reliable: They always returned my call.\r \r Nice: Nice, friendly guys.\r \r Honest: They had initially misquoted something for me. After having the error pointed out, they were not only totally understanding, but ended up nixing the charge altogether for that particular service. I also appreciated the printed out break down of each charge for parts/service.\r \r Love that they are so close to the metro station too. more

I walked in and immediately saw that Tony's is a certified Maserati repair shop, as well as a US Secret Service commendation for fine work. I think if both Maserati and President Bush were pleased enough with their work, that Tony's would be fine for my Toyota. \r \r My car had a weird vibrating/metal sound coming from the rear. I feared for the worst and though I'd need a new transmission. An associate at Secret Service recommended I go to Tony's who specializes in Toyotas. Tony's quickly diagnosed it as only a loose exhaust heat shield. They diagnosed, fixed and road tested it in apparently under .6 hrs, as that was all I was charged for. What a fantastic deal, especially when some garages would have just rebuilt the transmission to collect 2 grand from me. \r \r Tony's is also conveniently a block away from the Braddock Rd Metro, meaning I could drop off the car on Friday evening and Metro home. The only downside to Tony's is that they are closed on weekends so I dropped my car off on Friday evening but they didn't begin work on it until Monday morning. Whatever, for their honesty and good work, I'll be a repeat customer. more

My husband and I live in the neighborhood and have had several good experiences here. Our first time here, we had just taken our car elsewhere and were told that we needed over $3,000 worth of work. We took it to Tony's for a second opinion and they were more candid about the two repairs that absolutely needed to be performed, which totaled just under $1,000. \r \r On another occasion, we came here in a semi-urgent state. It was snowing and we were out of wiper fluid. Seems like a minor problem, but this caused dirt and snow to freeze all over our windshield, we could not see, and we had little time. Tony's fixed our wiper issues ASAP and had us on our way. \r \r What's even more impressive about this instance is that their mechanics get off at 5pm. We pulled in around 4:45 and the desk person inside told us we would probably have to come back the next day. The desk person had not seen the car. A mechanic (Mo or Mohammed I believe) who was outside saw how bad our winshield was and that the car was essentially undriveable in that weather. Mohammed said he would take care of us that day and stayed until our issue was resolved. \r \r This is a great establishment with dedicated employees and fair prices. more

I was so impressed with the service at Tony's!! Jerry and Mike provided absolute great service for me and at a better price then many places I had called for service. They called me to let me know if something else was needed and the exact price it would cost. I would recommend them to family and friends and go back for other auto needs. more

Tony's serviced my older truck when I had transmission problems. They accurately diagnosed the problem and did not try to pad the bill with extra (and unnecessary) work. The labor costs were fair and although they did charge for the diagnostic work the total bill was reasonable. They took my car in that morning and had it ready to pick up several hours later. I will take my vehicle back again. more

Checked it out b'c of all the positive reviews. Needed brake pads and rotors all around. After getting the full fool's treatment elsewhere (me being a young woman without much auto experience), this place cut to the chase, double-checked if they could resurface my rotors to avoid having to replace them, then called around for the best deal on pads. It's too bad I'm moving-I'd keep coming back. more

Dear Tony's Auto Service, You are exactly what we've been looking for these past two and half years in DC. I'm ashamed that the first time we called you, we were too impatient to wait the extra weekend for our vehicle to get fixed. Don't worry, we paid a huge price of shady service at another mechanics, and we definitely learned our lesson. We know better now. You're a rare diamond in the rough that fellow yelpers may want to keep to themselves. After these past few months of poor customer service and getting screwed by inexperienced mechanics, you're a breath of FRESH AIR. You've put that smile back on our faces, that I can't wait to tell the world of your great service! Everyone's reviews about you yet are nothing shy of true, except for the no-call-back guy. I'm sorry that guy didn't have a good experience, but I have faith in you. The moment I stepped in, I found comfort in the fact that at my short height, I look up and around and there wasn't an inch of wall that was not covered with a certificate, award, or recognition given. Both old and new, I'm thankful you hang everything up with pride. It leaves customers like myself with no reason to doubt your profession at all. I understand the legacy of Tony's Auto Service. Your extremely old and outdated decor shows that you're more focused on working on your cars. The old, well aged certificates, newspaper articles, awards all show me what experience you have. The new certificates, recognition, and awards show me your consistent progressive growth. We have nothing but high regards and respect for your business. I love, love, love that you are a family operated business, and that your nephew Andrew has taken such great care of my husband and I from the beginning. Andrew is VERY considerate, understanding, respectful, reliable, honest, and most of all, helpful. We walked into your store tense and irritated by getting tossed back and forth from crappy service, and you took the car into your hands and fixed it all. Each phone call you promised was delivered. Each question we asked, you answered with detail and precision. The fact that you charged us only an hour and half for labor when you finished sooner than the two hours you estimated proved your honesty. You charged us exactly what you told us, and pulled no quick ones on us. Andrew constantly preached to me, that ""usually, all mechanics want to do is make their customer happy. That's the most important thing,--that we fix your problem, and you are happy."" along with, ""a lot of mechanics forget that the real source of your paychecks are from your happy customers who keep coming back."" Something along those lines, but I'll never forget it. It all makes sense to me now. Since last week until now, I couldn't understand why Tony's seems too good to be true. I can't find a single thing I do not like about Tony's Auto Services. Why haven't they tried screwing us over yet?? I know why now. Its because you don't need to. Just like that newspaper article says, ""Tony's Station Too Successful."" It's because you don't NEED to screw anyone to make money. You've already earned the loyalty and respect from customers alike, that you don't need extra dirty money. You're THAT good, and you've got a hold of your ground and APPRECIATE loyal customers. We have received nothing but GREAT, PROFESSIONAL, QUALITY, HONEST work from you, Tony's Auto Service. I thank you for everything! You have won our hearts in loyalty and trust. more

I've found the place where i'm going to bring my car for all automotive needs, and its walking distance from my place too. Dr Tony (he has a certficate on his wall that states he is a ""Doctor of Motors"") is a hard working honest family man. I make that statement for several reasons. 1) hard working: His wall is decorated full of certificates of appreciation from different organizations, including the Secret service, the president, Army Reserve, police department, and he serviced the cars involved in the presidential election, police department, and i even saw a Walter Reed Army Medical Center bus in his lot. he has a large open bay that can service many cars at once. 2) honest: i brought my car in because there was a metal bar hanging down from underneith my car. My first thought.... i think my cars falling out from under me. A metal bar scraped the ground so i had to bring it in. Mechanics are akin to surgeons. They can open you up, do their thing, close you up and you wouldn't know what they did most times. They can tell you anything is wrong with your car and most woundn't know the difference. within two hours, he had my problem solved and fixed. apparently i had run over a metal bar and it got lodged there. They took it out, didn't inflate any prices, or sell up and say i needed to fix ""other things"" or say i needed to replace anything. Most places would have said damage was done to this and that and charge me for fixing it. 3) family man: he has a picture of his family next to his computer. Tony's shop has been around since the 1960's, so he ain't going anywhere, thank goodness. I need hard working honest family man to fix my car when it breaks down. Dr Tony has my stamp of approval. Besides, when you service that many law enforcement cars, probably not a good idea .to be a crook more

The management at Tony's has worked with me, accommodating my every wish. Through the years they have called me to provide updates, what they have found while doing services, and have pointed out some things that needed repairs, which I chose to delay - no problem. They are honest, conscientious and very professional. more

AMAZING, most trustworthy bunch of mechanics I've ever encountered 'round these parts - heard about 'em in the first place because of word of mouth. Once, I took my car in for squeaky brakes and figured I'd need to get them all replaced, got it in same day, rec'd a call a few hours later where they told me the brakes were just dirty and that they cleaned 'em up for cheap and that the car was ready. Who does that??? more
