Editorial review from Citysearch 11/29/2012

I got a great haircut. Earlier someone mentioned an older woman with braided hair being her stylist and how that was a signal that she should've not used her. Lyvanna (Art Director IV) did mine and she could fit that description (she had a braid but also styled hair about it). She was careful and made sure I was comfortable with any major changes to my hair. It's very stylish, as she used a style that I picked off of their website. She also helped me measure my hair before cutting it since I plan to donate it. She isn't very talkative, but neither am I so I wouldn't take that as her being unfriendly. Also, Tan has helped me in the past and I was content with that style too (it's been quite a while so I don't remember exactly how content) but I go there because I've had good results. My first cut was with Alfredo (I think) and absolutely loved that style, but he wasn't there after that. Then there was another guy I really liked but didn't think he was there anymore either - maybe Antonio if he was there some time between 1998 and 2003. There was one time with Lani at Barton Creek who was very friendly but did not meet expectations for the price, but that was probably 10 years ago now, so she may be awesome now too. more

Christopher is the BEST :) 4/2/2012

I have been on the search for a stylist for over 2 years! My hair is unruly (on it's best day) and very thick. A hairdresser's worst nightmare basically. It's been my experience, that only the very best will know how to tackle and tame my mane! Christopher not only listened to my concerns but in true artist fashion made me look AMAZING! more

Thanks for the Michi info! 3/13/2012

I was glad to find Michi at the Austin Metropolitan Club, but was confused when I went to book online there because she's not listed under her nickname ""Michi"". She's listed under her given name, Michele Nelson. So glad to know where she went! Thanks! more

Found Michi at Metropolitan in Austin! 3/11/2012

Michi used to do my highlights at T&G and she has been the only one to do my color exactly how I want it. She really knows what she's doing and it's awesome to find someone of her caliber that is still reasonably priced. She is at at Metropolitan in Austin! www.austinmetropolitanclub She's honoring prior T&G customer pricing, and does both cut and color! more

Adrianne and Phillip are AMAZING! 1/31/2011

I work for a MedSpa and Physicians office where looking good is very important and I had let my poor hair fall by the wayside. I went to Toni & Guy and met with Adrianne who is the Floor Manager and Colorist who made my poor hair Dazzle. Phillip who is their Educator did my cut and it came out AMAZING! I even had my brows dyed and waxed. Anyone that wants a fantastic time head to Toni & Guy and ask for Phillip for your cut (though I watched all the stylists and everyone did an amazing job on thier clients) and Adrianne for your color. All of thier staff knows their stuff and I even left with fantastic product and they do a great rewards program for your next visit. I will be going back and sending all my friends. more

Ditto on Michi! 12/1/2010

Michi is not a hair colorist--she's an artist! I knew what I wanted my hair to look like, but had no idea how to get there. She knew exactly what to do and you wouldn't believe the before/after pictures. She also has a very gentle touch, which I need with my tender head. By the way, I'm in my 50s--Michi knows how to listen to what you want, whatever age you are. more

Have Michi Do Your Hair Color 11/18/2010

Recently, I went to Toni and Guy at Lakeline Mall to get some highlights done. A colorist named Michi did my hair and I was really impressed. I've never had my color done this well and I've been getting lots of compliments on my hair! Michi has great attention to detail and I recommend her to anyone for their color needs. more

Toni and Guy Hairdresser - Michi Hogan 11/14/2010

Michi approach me at Lakeline Mall and I agreed to go into her salon and color my hair. I'm naturally a blonde but wanted to go dark for the winter and to just try something new. My experience was Amazing and my hair color came out wonderful!! I'm the exact color I wanted; Dark, auburn with a hint of caramel. more

Michi is Great! 11/11/2010

I have had the pleasure of going to Tony and Guys for highlights. Michi is very attentative to you. She makes sure that the color you chose on the swatch is the color you get in your hair. She is very professional and will do her best to make your experience at Tony and Guy's a good one. My daughter had frizzy hair. She could not find the right product. We found just right product.at Tony and Guy's. It was a little expensive, though. more

Waste of money, terrible hair cut 4/28/2010

I rarely ever get my hair cut because it always seems to be so expensive and every hair cut I get is a disaster. Toni and Guy was, sadly, no different. I'd heard a lot of good things about Ramses and tried to get an appointment with him, but he wasn't in so I had to settle for someone else. Everyone in the place seemed really... hip, for lack of a better word. The lady who cut my hair (I won't say her name, I don't want to bash her personally), did NOT fit in with the rest of the people who worked there. She was older, probably nearly 40 or so. She had her hair pulled back in a braid. I knew I was in trouble, but I had already committed and didn't want to be rude and leave based on her looks. The only good thing I can say about her is she gives a mean shampoo. She took over five minutes, and I was in heaven. It was lovely. I told her what I wanted, and what I didn't want. She didn't listen to me AT ALL. She told me what I wanted wasn't popular right now. Um... I do not care! It's hard for me to see what she's doing because I am blind as a bat and wear glasses, so I didn't see the result until the very end. It took everything I had not to cry in front of her. I never cry over a hair cut because it's just hair and grows back, but I was distraught. She walked me up front and spent over five minutes trying to push products on me, then lingered around to make sure I was going to give her a tip. My disaster of a hair cut set me back $75. I don't know what to do. I'm not going back to ask her to fix it for fear she'll butcher it even more, however, I do want something to be done. I just can't afford another $75 hair cut for a while. :( Long story short, I went in expecting a hip, trendy cut and came out with a hair cut circa 1994. If I had wanted ""The Rachel"" I would have went to Regis at the other end of the mall and paid $25, thanks. Pros: Friendly receptionist Cons: Very pricy for end result, hair dressers don't listen more

ASK FOR ANTONIO! GREAT HAIRCUT 3/30/2010

I was a walk-in Tuesday morning. I had ruined my hair coloring it myself, and hadn't had a good cut in years. Antonio was available. He was very personable. He spent a lot of time evaluating my hair and asked me in detail what kind of style I wanted. He did a special moisture treatment and the products he used really made my hair shine! I am usually disappointed with stylists, but I really like the cut & style Antonio game me. Antonio was EXCELLENT and I highly recommend him. Pros: Professional, Knowledgeable & Personable more

Great Salons 11/4/2009

I won't say I do or do not work at a Toni&Guy Salon, for obvious reasons, but I will say I have great insider information about this salon. First of all for those of you who complained about the service at Barton Creek, I will agree with you because I may or may not have worked there at one point and even as an employee or non-employee I was not treated very nicely. For the person that complained about the blonde gay male at Lakeline, he is no longer working there. If you go to a Toni&Guy salon presently, I would recommend getting your stylist or color technician's cell phone numbers in case they leave T&G. Otherwise you will never find out where they moved to, because yes the Toni&Guy staff is not allowed to tell anyone where previous employess have gone, and they are required to recommend a new stylist at Toni&Guy for you to go to. If you would like recommendations for stylists and color technicians I am going to list their names and reasons to go to them right here, and I will also name any cons of each. STYLISTS!!!!!!!! Pros: Great staff, friendly, Professional Cons: Certain stylists are pushy with products more

where's christina? 6/19/2009

Does anyone know where Christina went? She did a great job cutting fine hair. I believe she was a manager there, too. All of sudden she's gone and no one can give me a follow up as to where she went to now. Pros: latest techniques/styles Cons: price/poor customer service more

Cig is at Salon Aqua Blue 6/19/2009

He rocks! Toni and Guy are at a total loss without him! He started cutting my hair when he worked at Toni & Guys and when he left, I settled on getting haircuts from other places, not going back to Toni and guys. Nobody cuts hair like Cig. He is pro, ninja, and incredible at what he does. I have not had one bad hair cut from him. He is so patient, precise, and makes you feel completely comfortable and unlike Toni and Guy, the staff, including receptionist, are friendly, do not have attitudes, and are not stuck up. I will follow Cig to the ends of the earth for his hair cuts and everyone else should too. Go see him at Salon Aqua Blue instead. Pros: Ninja Level Haircut Cons: I can't afford to have him do my hair everyday more

Anyone Can Cut Hair There! 4/2/2009

I took my 9 year old son to the Lakeline Mall -412 on 4/2/09. I am BEYOND dissappointed at the experience. A stylist by the name of Claudia cut, more like butchered, his little hair. It was a simple request of cutting his hair shorter on sides and back, blending it all in and front longer so he can comb it to the left. The end result was my son resembling a BOWL. Not only did she NOT cut his hair straight in the back but left the sides so long it covered the tip of his ears. It was ridiculous. I even requested her to fix it. Which she managed to somehow make it worse. The woman can NOT cut hair. To add insult to injury, when I went to pay, they charged me $49 for this haircut (mind you, I don't mind paying the money for a decent cut) that we could have easily gotten at Supercuts and there they probably would have cut it STRAIGHT! When I told the receptionist, a fohawked white gay male, he just rolled his eyes and said ""Well, she is one of our best"" OMG, if SHE's the best Toni & Guy can do, then all the standards the company is known for has gone down the gutter. She gives a professional stylist a bad name. How DARE she call herself a stylist! Where did she get her license? Has Toni & Guy stooped so low as to allow just anyone who aquires a hair cutting license to represent them? I know good hairstylists are hard to find, but she was beyond bad. It looks like something a beginning student would do, and to consider her one of the best? Top of the line? How low has Toni & Guys standards really gotten? Now I have to try to find a decent stylist to fix what Claudia messed up for $49!!! Oh, and I have pictures, feel free to email and I'll share their ""Master Cutting"" Cons: Hairstylist doesn't know how to cut hair! more

Frizz Ball 12/29/2008

Beware! Bad customer service! I went for some highlights, and they stuck me in the corner and forgot about me! I had to get up and remind them that I was still there, and by then my color was over due :( Then, they didnt have time to dry my hair all the way because another appointment showed up, so they let me go with wet frizzy hair! I was not happy. Pros: usually not too booked (wonder why!) Cons: Snooty staff, talk about customers behind their backs, not proffessional more

Thanks Partygirl007 12/1/2008

I just wanted to thank Partygirl007 for giving us a way to get in touch with Cig. I have been asking the workers at Tony and Guy if they knew where he was and they told me no, on several occations. Thanks again. more
