Great Customer Service! 10/2/2006

Tommy's is fantastic for breakfast and lunch, but the dinner will surpass your expectations! I highly recommend the Paniola Steak, best meal I've had this year! I have tried many things on the menu and they are all fantastic. With options like Wild Salmon, Char-Grilled Jumbo Prawns and the famous Kalua Pork, this restaurant is far beyond other Vancouver restaurants. My fiancee is a vegetarian, so it's great that they have delicious options for him as well. For lunch, I recommend the Da Kine sandwich, using only boar's head meats and cheeses, this is the highest quality sandwich in Vancouver. It's obvious they care about using top notch ingredients. Don't miss the fish and chips on Fridays! I disagree with the other users comments about service, I always feel the spirit of the island when I'm there. Friendly, prompt, accomodating service has always been my experience. I have never experienced long waits on my food, and this place is always at least fairly busy. Highly recommended for all meals! Check out the new unique cocktails too! Pros: Extremely high quality, great service, great atmosphere Cons: none! more

Good food, kitchen is very slow, service lacking 9/28/2006

While there is a shortage of quality restaurants in Downtown Vancouver Tommy Os is one of the better ones when it comes to menu, food quality and ambiance. With that said, Tommys is severely lacking when it comes to service. After dinning here twice and ordering take out once, I experienced extremely long waits every time. Im talking a good 15 minutes before your order is taken, and another 30+ minutes before your food arrives. Each time they were not that busy. Give it a try if youre in the mood for Hawaiian food and you dont mind the wait. Ignore the other reviewers comment about it rivals most Portland restaurants, thats totally absurd. Compared to the better restaurants in Portland Tommys is average at best, the slow service drops it to slightly below average; with the variety of quality restaurants in Portland its hardly worth a drive across the bridge. If you do decide to give a try, best of luck I hope you get better service than I did, youll probably enjoy the food. Sorry, I have no recommendations from the menu. Pros: Good food, good location, good atmosphere Cons: Severely slow service more

Best food in Vancouver!! 8/8/2006

Tommy O's is hands down the best place for lunch and dinner anywhere in Vancouver and rivals most Portland area restaurants. I have been eating at Tommy O's for lunch for years and have recently discovered his dinner menu is EXCELLENT. The Pacific Rim Bistro theme is well executed with fresh fish specials daily and a fantastic happy hour menu. The atmosphere is fun and casual while still being appropriate for dates and other more formal occasions. Check out the live music Fridays and Saturdays. Pros: Excellent seafood, steak, and happy hour. Live music Friday and Saturday Cons: Reservations sometimes needed Friday and Saturday due to the live music more

Try Tommy's for dinner... 5/3/2006

..., you won't be disappointed! Tommy's has been a downtown institution for a decade but now there's more reasons to love his place....Dinner is amazing. If you're in the mood for fish, you can't beat Tommy's halibut or scallop dishes. Feeling more like beef? Then you can't pass up the Kalbi ribs. Pros: Great food, Friendly service, Generous portions more

GREAT SPOT 2/2/2004

I have been going to Tommy's for a while now and love going back. The Kalua pork is the bomb! You gotta try it! The calamari steak sandwich is mmm, mmm, good. Pros: Friendly service, Tasty, healthy food, Awesome pig! more

Several good vegetarian choices 5/12/2003

This place has since moved, but is still in the downtown area. I've been here both for lunch and brunch. For lunch I've gotten the vegetarian Asian noodle bowl, which is noodles seasoned with a soy ginger dressing, served hot with stir fry vegetables. When I eat brunch there I purchase the Kailua (sp?), which is veggies and tofu in a curry suace. It's good each time I get it. There is also a vegetarian sandwhich on the menu. Pros: Inexpensive, Nice service Cons: not much vegetarian more
