I love barbecue. When I travel for business or pleasure, I search for the best BBQ in the city and the next time I visit I try another. I have ate BBQ in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Delray, West Palm Beach, Stuart, Vero, Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce, Melbourne, Orlando, Jacksonville, and Tampa. Florida has some great BBQ restaurants, and some so-so BBQ, but I have never found BBQ that was on par with Tom Jenkins. Tom Jenkins has a sauce that is so amazing I would eat it on dirt. I am surprised that Tom Jenkins sells their sauce by the bottle because in an pinch this sauce can transform average BBQ into good BBQ. Since my office is in Miami, I keep a bottle in our office fridge and must confess I have used it on rotisserie chicken from Pollo Tropical and Publix. The chicken at Tom Jenkins is a thing of beauty. The breast meat at Jenkins is as tender and moist as the dark meat of a regular BBQ. I have no idea how they get chicken this moist and tender. Then they put on their sauce. It is the best BBQ chicken I have ever had. On a 1 to 10 scale my rating for their food is as follows: Sauce 10, Chicken 10, Ribs 8.5, Pork sandwich 9, Mac and Cheese 10, Baked Beans 9, Ice Tea 9 (their sweet tea is so sweet it could injure a diabetic). On the walls of Tom Jenkins are rave reviews from Ocean Drive Magazine, Florida Trend, Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, New Times and the Miami Herald. Barbecue lovers who reside in Ft. Lauderdale have no idea how good they have it.
Pros: Amazing sauce, chicken, mac & cheese
Cons: They need to open a Miami Location
