Best

this is by far one of my favourite food ever! The baby back ribs at tom Jenkins are so delicious tender and juicy.

Worst

As I was forced to patronized this establishment by a friend whom visited there the day before. I enjoyed the taste of the sauce at Tom Jenkins Barbeque, the ribs were just Averag...

There is no better bbq in south florida. There will be a line and maybe no room to sit and eat and no booze or anything. Its a take out joint and does a great job with their chicken, ribs, pork, brisket, and sides. Not overpriced. more

Tom Jenkins used to be amazing, bigger portions and cheaper. The food is still good, especially the BBQ sauce and mac n cheese, just less of it. Sometimes the pork is fatty and the lemonade is way too sweet. The the thing that really bothers me EVERYTHING IS SERVED IN STYROFOAM! Not cool. more

Went anticipating something great ,but was a little disappointed . My friend ordered the chicken which was pretty good , I was hoping for brisket , got bbq beef , asked the counterperson if they would slice it , she said NO\r dont think it was brisket ,some other cut that was chopped up like pulled pork , very annoying and not very good . I will say the had very good greens . will not be going back . more

delicious sauce, number one reason to go. The chicken is always juicy and the sides are delicious. Moderately priced, a good place if you want southern style BBQ. more

I think the problem with Tom Jenkins is that you smell that delicious BBQ a block away. You go around the place a few times until you're lucky enough to find a parking spot then you wait forever to finally get your food. By this time you've built so much anticipation for your BBQ meal...then... well, it's good but for some reason it smells so much better than it tastes. But most of my friends love it so give it a try and you be the judge. more

Middle of the road bbq...everything here is smoked and they do a pretty good job. I think the reputation out weighs the food. The chicken is good and the ribs are okay....they don't fall off the bone but the flavor is solid. Decent sides...the norm for "southern cooking" mac & cheese is good and so are the fries. The bbq sauce taste good too. I would reccomend. Happy Eats more

Mixed review. We've been eating here for years, but it has issues. Overall, the 'que is really good. Sides are pretty good. Service ranges between sullen and awful. Call ahead for take out. Nowhere to sit, (like, 4 picnic tables is it), no beer and no credit cards. Good if you're in the area but not worth a long trip. more

If you think this is the Boca Toms from the past you will be very disappointed! I ordered 90.00 worth of garbage this week. First they failed to get the order right, I ordered collard greens [2] and did not receive them, not such a bad thing but driving from Pompano makes it a bad thing! I called and they say I never ordered them and argued with me over it. We then started eating the Baby Backs and they were dried out, tough as nails and over brined! The salt level was beyond belief. Then we sampled the Spare ribs and they were worse! The corn muffins weighed 10 pounds each! The baked beans were great! The sauce was average much like KC watered down. This is not good bar bq unless you bring the Jaws of Life to eat with! No quality control, There is no Soul in this food. I have lived in Broward since 69 and have enjoyed many great restaurants each having there own little glitches along the way which is expected. Toms is one big glitch! Word of mouth can make you or break you, to argue with a customer over a side of greens who just spent 90.00? Never again! more

By far this is the best BBQ chopped pork sandwich I have EVER eaten!!! Everything I've had there is amazing. \r If you are craving southern home cookin, you've found the right spot. I will warn you that if you don't call in, you'll probably be in line for at least an hour (although it is still worth the wait). Maybe I shouldn't let everyone in on my secret..... more

Be prepared to wait to get your food here, the line is usually very long. Also there is communal seating, so if you don't want to sit next to anyone you don't know get take out. The meats are smoked to perfection and the homemade BBQ sauce is put on the side. Dishes are served with two sides, my favorite are the baked beans and mac and cheese. The cornbread on the other hand isn't good. It's over cooked or hard. Great place for BBQ! more

Not Impressed with the Food. 10/3/2011

As I was forced to patronized this establishment by a friend whom visited there the day before. I enjoyed the taste of the sauce at Tom Jenkins Barbeque, the ribs were just Average. However the beef brisket was the WORST I ever had in my life. The brisket was tough and it was chopped up sort of cube style. The macaroni and cheese was not that tasty and size portion for the price paid was not reasonable. The greens were HORRIBLE, the taste of the greens was some type of cleaning product taste and they were not fresh greens. I was so disappointed in my food choice that night. I will never recommend this place to anyone unless they only want some ribs that are just AVERAGE. The meat on the rib bones were cooked as if they were rushed. more

Everyone always raves about this place, so I finally gave it try, abandoning my usual spot. I wish I hadn't. It's more like a fast food place and the food quality was not that great, there's a long wait and the staff could care less. The side items just didn't taste good, like it had been sitting around a while and the BBQ sauce just didn't have any special flavor. I believe in everyone having a bad day, but it will be a while before I give it another shot. more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 9/18/2011

The hour wait for the quality of food was just not worth it. I wouldn't even call it a restaurant. It's more like bbq fast food. I had the beef brisket which wasn't horrible but not great either. The cornbread was terrible, completely dry, and not in a good way. Mac n cheese, just not enough cheese; it tasted like a frozen Stoffer's mac n cheese dinner. Overall, quite disappointing more

OMG the BEST ever. Be prepared to stand... more

This is good home style southern BBQ. The place looks like a hole in the fall brick shack on South Federal, and when you walk in you are eating it on wooden picnic benches, but I usually just get it as take out. (Order early on Friday or Saturday because they run out of baby backs). The catfish is deep fried and cooked to perfection, while the ribs are what everyone usually goes for. Either baby backs or pork ribs, which are huge, I can easily inhale an entire rack of those pork ribs, and be filled up. The sauce is a special homemade sauce, which you can purchase in the store. Sometimes the lady at the counter taking your order is rude, but when you see the lines you see why, on a Saturday night it goes out the door. This place is a Fort Lauderdale institution, a must for any lover of good southern ribs. Note closed on Sunday for Church and Monday for Cat fishing more

This place is BBQ heaven, small place but who cares about the size when the taste of the food is good. make sure you order the Ribs. more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 7/9/2011

Love good BBQ. This is a very good BBQ shak. Legendary ribs and their home made BBQ sauce is wonderful. Eating inside is challenging, walkout smelling like oakwood. But worth it. The best! Oh yes, they need to get a Beer and Wine License, sweet tea didn't cut it for me. more
