Great Place 8/23/2009

Great Food, Great Service Pros: Perfect Cons: Awesome Place more

Eh... 7/15/2009

I'll start off by saying I could see how some would like this place. It's dark and noisy, which make some people feel like it's a vibrant night hotspot. For me, it felt a little overwhelming. The service was decent, a little overbearing, but friendly enough. I expected the food to have a little more zing for my buck, but whatever. The place gets a decent amount of business, so they must be doing something right...I just didn't see it. Pros: Pretty Good Food Cons: Pricy, Noisy more

For special occasions... 2/27/2007

Just went with a party of 6 last evening...originally booked for 4 and called late afternoon and the hostess was more than happy to accomodate us...everything on the menu is a la carte, so it can get pretty expensive..the wine list is extensive but priced for by the glass and not by the bottle, so ask about bottle pricing...we had the mozzarello fritti: thick, yet lightly breaded mozzarello pieces, perfectly seasoned and served with a spicy marinara sauce...and spinach/artichoke dip/fondue....served with seasoned cracker strips...wonderful but not enough dippers.....salads....tomato and fresh mozzarella, spinach, and watercress/argula...all had different tastes and were fresh and delicious...the entrees were the pork chop...thick and juicy....served medium as anything more dries the meat out...and with a side of wedge potatoes.$4 extra...were crisp and light and not greasy....veal marsala...the sauce was great to dip with the hot, hard rolls....the7 oz. filet was done medium rare with a side of peppercorn sauce..extra charge, of course....and the garlic mashed potatoes, also extra...were a perfect complement to each other...the filet was tender...and the potatoes were like homemade...creamy.....the ahi tuna served on fresh greens and balsamic chopped tomatoes was light and mild yet filling...the shrimp and lobster ravolli was served in a light tomato sauce..there are 6 on a platter and enjoyed....the lasagna bolognese looked very hardy and was loaded with chopped meat....we were way too stuffed for dessert but have indulged in them before....our server had a lovely presentation of chocolate covered strawberries and other coated delights, tiramasu, chocolate mousse, cheesecake, and 3 other treats...all in small, decorative glasses...just enough to share....their taste and quality are good but not great, especially after a large meal...the atmosphere is dark yet friendly, the wait staff is knowledgable, but when the bar and dining areas get crowded, it gets very loud. Pros: the appetizers, salads, and entrees, the wait staff Cons: pretty expensive, and can get very noisy more

So Bad, it used to be great 11/5/2006

Great Food and Service but LOUD 8/5/2006

Concierge at The Peabody recommended Timpano so we went there for dinner. Nice selection of pasta, seafood and beef as well as chicken and veal dishes. Started with the tomato stack - red and yellow tomatoes with think slabs of mozzerella and basil and drizzled with a little oil and balsamic. Large enough to share for two. YUM. I had the Kobe seared pork chop. Juicy and cooked to perfection! My co-worker had the chicken parmasan and she said it was terrific. Had a side of garlic mashed potatoes - again large enough to share. Nice selection of wines by the glass. Our servers were friendly, witty and knowledgeable about the food and wines. Carlos had a smile and a comment for everything. Timpano's could clone him and teach other restaurants a thing or two! Pros: Food quality; Terrific servers, Ambience Cons: Decible level more

""No Service"" restaurant. 4/11/2006

I went into this restaurant and presented a gift certificate that they sent me and they refused to honor it. The Manager tried to claim that it was valid only in the dining room (I sat in the bar) yet the certificate never stated that. You can check it out for yourself by making a reservation on opentable.com and you will get a reply e-mail from the restaurant that offers you a free drink or appetizer. It does not mention anything about having to buy dinner. The Manager sat and argued with me that he was right and I was wrong. Clearly, this Manager needs customer service training. If you are going to use a gift certificate be very careful as they may give you a hard time. For me, I will not be dining in this ""No Service"" restaurant. more

Two too many occasions ruined 4/6/2006

One evening, I went there with my significant other. The service was bad. The servers are unattentive and slow. At the end of the evening, we asked for our leftovers to go and the dessert menu. The waiter did not come back for 20mins. At that point, we skipped dessert and boxed leftovers. When we arrived home we discovered it was someone else's. On another occasion, I made reservations for Valentine's day. The hostess taking the reservation said that I was the first one to make reservations as she put my information in the computer and that it would be no problem to get me the seating that I requested. When we arrived, we had lousy service and did not get seated where requested. I am over paying over $40 bucks PP for food that isn't good and being thristy the entire time. I will never go back. more

Over-rated. 2/22/2006

The Good: The 8oz filet was very good. The grilled vegetables were good, especially the tomatoes and peppers. The hot rolls were excellent. Complimentary valet parking was nice. The service was good, lots of trips for water, and friendly. I got right in at 7:30pm on Thurs. The Bad: It was really noisy, impossible to have a conversation. The lights were too dim to read the menu ... someone noticed me trying to find some light that would reflect off the page enough to read and brought me an LED flashlight. The price was high for the food. The steak and vegetables were $32 tonight. The Rockhampton ribeye at Outback is just as good and the steamed vegetables are better for 2/3s the price. Pros: Great hot rolls, Good Steak Cons: Price, Noise, Lack of lighting more

The worst steak ever, and bad service too!!! 11/24/2005

I ate there with my wife and the service started out O.K. However, the waiter never asked how our food was, I was ready to tell him the truth (i.e. bad). My steak was fatty and cooked wrong. I would have rather had a Steak-um sandwich. My wife had the Thanksgiving special which was O.K. The waiter never asked us how our food was and disappeared after it was delivered. For some reason it took 10 minutes to seat us even though the place was empty. That should have been our first clue. Pros: atmosphere Cons: food , service more

Nice Service 2/28/2005

I ate with two friends the other day and the service and food was very good. I had the bone in Ribeye and they had the filet. The filets looked a little small, but they ordered the 8 oz version. I would suggest the bone in 14 oz. myself. When they brought out my Ribeye it did not have the Gorgonzola topping that I ordered, and when I mentioned it they had the correct steak out in two minutes -- they must have grabbed the wrong one off the grill. The service was very good and I would recommend the Cesar salad. The dressing was good and not too overbearing. I had also eaten here about six months ago with a group of 15 people and they did a nice job with the group too. Pros: Atmosphere, Steak, Service more

Fantabulous 7/20/2004

Just an absolutely fabulous night out. I just happened to visit during their Ladies Night and it was amazing. Free drinks, free food, free strawberries, free chocolate, free entertainment, and.....a free massage....what more could a woman want/need! I almost did not even need dinner...but I am glad I did! The food was exceptional, the service was awesome, knowledgeable and friendly, and the experience was just all around incredible! I wouldn't hesitate to tell any of my friends to go, and I will be going back! Great fun!!! Pros: Fabulous Food, Great Crowd, Awesome Service Cons: , Busy Bar, Tons of Women more

Outstanding 6/28/2004

Having just moved here from Atlanta, I was a bit hesitant to expect there would be any decent dining options in Central Florida. I was more than pleasently suprised to find Timpano. The food is excellent, the service is impecable and the atmosphere is amazing. I found I barely missed the big city dining experience I longed for in Atlanta. Kudos to Timpano for creating intellegent dining right here in Orlando. Pros: valet parking, faboulous food, great crowd Cons: , none, none more

VERY GOOD 6/25/2004

There are so few places to go where the food and atmosphere are so good. We had an outstanding time - we had a group of 12 - and the experience could not have been better. They even had people walking us to our cars in the rain. Pros: music, food, service more

Pass on Timpanos.... 1/23/2004

Timpanos is the perfect place for the over achiever who expects very little. Pros: Music, Food, if not hungry. Cons: Service, Prices vs. quality., Overall experience more

Took a Chance 6/19/2003

We 'Stumbled' into this place while looking for another steakhouse in the same area and the dining and food were definitely super. If you order the steak, it's served ala carte with ample sides available to split between two or three. There's a nice wine list available which spans the price range of most diners. Relax with a cigar and drink in the bar afterwards while listening to the live music. All in all, a great evening. more

Upscale, swanky dining/entertainment 5/14/2003

Guys - if you want to impress that special dame, this is where you need to be. Very classy dining with a fantastic menu and wine selection. After dinner, swing on by the Starlight Lounge (conveniently located on the other side of the bar) for a specialty Martini, and just sit back and soak in the atmosphere! You can't help tapping your foot along to the live music featuring a super-talented piano player with bass and saxophone accompaniment. Michael and the boys really swing with guest vocalists and accompaniment. I can only imagine that's how it must have been back in the heyday of the 40's and 50's! Do yourself a favor and put it on your ""To Do List"". Pros: Food, Music, Ambience Cons: small dance floor more

8 1/24/2003

The food was good, service needs a little work. Definitely take the water glasses off the table when you pour water into them. Dining room very noisy, need acoustic tiles! Great bar. Not true fine dining, a little pricey, but very good all the same. Would recommend it to others Pros: Good Food, Great bar area Cons: Noisy dining room, works more

Bella 1/24/2003

Want to impress the wife with a successful yet romantic persona? You definitely need to try out TImpano. Pros: excellent food, great serving sizes Cons: slightly tight parkin more
