Our builder hired Tier One to install our entire system 2 years ago in Charlotte, NC. Our house was not cooling, so we had another referral come test our system. We were very low on refrigerant which was odd of a system this new, so the tech recommended that we contact the company who installed it because there is probably a leak. I called Tier One 3 times this week before anyone would answer my questions (no one ever called me back before). They wanted to charge me $90 for a trip charge + hourly + charge me $125/lb of refrigerant!!! I should let you know that my father has a refrigeration company in WV and one of my best friends from childhood has an HVAC company in Ohio and they both told me I shouldn't be paying more than $60/lb for freon and Tier One should be backing up their work after only two years with that much leaking. The tech said that I should pay a little over $40/lb for freon. The very next company I called is coming out to do the work for $45/hr & $56/lb of freon. Tier One was trying to take advantage of us. RESPONSE FROM Tier 1 Heating and Air: Mr. Werkman, as I stated on the phone with you earlier today, we will be more than happy to stand by our work if there is an installation issue with your system. We wouldn't charge you a dime if there was a mistake made by our crew at installation. All of our installs come with a 1 year fully guaranteed warranty. All the parts would be under warranty for 5 years. Your system was installed on 2/2/10. At this point your system is over 2 years & 5 months. On occasion, equipment does fail. A unit might leak or a motor goes bad and that's why the equipment has a 5 year warranty. Regarding the price for a service call and refrigerant, those are competitive prices in our market. We are by no means trying to "rip you off". We are always willing to work with our customers if they have issues with pricing and we would extend the same courtesy to you. It's unfortunate to read your review after such a brief conversation we had on the phone. I understand your frustration in this unusually hot weather and we would love an opportunity to come out and see if the issue you're having with your system is due to an installation problem. Takes time to explain to their customers! 7/29/2011

Tier 1 Heating and Air did a really nice job in helping us in terms of answering our questions we had about things that needed fixing. We bought our house in 2010, and they were kind enough to help us install heat and air. They were very responsible and explained really well what they were doing and were very professional and efficient in how they used their time. All of their staff members were very knowledgeable at their craft and with the work they're doing. If we needed them again, we'd definitely use them! more

Tier 1 Heating and Air were my third heating and cooling company I called in. They were the only ones able to solve the issue we were having with our system. They were done with the actual work in a timely matter and offered competitive pricing. We were also really impressed that they were able to work well with the manufacture of the AC system. Very Professional Company, Great Service 8/30/2010

Tier One did excellent work for our neighbor and we experienced the same at our house. Service was at the promised time. Tier One inspected the work needed and had all parts available for the work day. The technicians were cheerful though they worked in our 100+ degree attic space. They were also as neat as possible, removing shoes at the door. Work was done according to estimate with no surprises. I would hire them again for any maintenance on my furnace or a/c more

Tier 1 Heating and Air installed new air conditioning equipment (not an entire unit) for us, including coils, refrigerant, and compressors. They were competent, responsive, and made good recommendations on what we should get. There are a lot of different brands on the market. Tier 1 recommended Carrier and, because they have been a longtime provider of Carrier, they get a good price from them, which they passed on to us. Not only was it a significant savings but it was a good value: When I consulted Consumer Reports Magazine, Carrier was rated right up there with other brands like Lennox. Tier 1 explained to me why our previous unit was leaking refrigerant and they got rid of it, replacing the line and putting in new refrigerant, which is more efficient. They did not have to install a whole new unit because our furnace was going to last much longer. I had a good experience working with Tier 1 Heating and Air. Professional service, very good experience. 11/6/2009

We have had a very good experience with Tier 1 Heating and Air. We initially started using them when they bought out the company that we had a maintenance agreement with. Tier 1 installed a new air conditioning system and heater for us. They were very professional and, so far, everything has been working well. The system is under warranty now but we will be taking a maintenance agreement with them in about 6 months. We are very pleased with Tier 1 Heating and Air. Very satisfied. 9/30/2009

I first heard about Tier 1 Heating and Air because they were recommended by a close friend of mine who uses them for most of his home construction projects. I decided to use Tier 1 after talking and meeting with them myself, and comparing prices. I was very impressed, felt that they were conscientious and would do a good job, which they did. Tier 1 first came out to do a review and tune-up of our system. During this review, we discovered that we had a potential problem and, a couple of days later, our system actually quit on us. We had Tier 1 replace it. The sales rep that we worked with had spent a lot of time as a repairman, so he was experienced in terms of which brands performed the best. He was very helpful in advising us on which system would give us the most trouble-free service. I am very satisfied with my experience with Tier 1 and have already recommended them. John Lewis more

Great company to do your heating and air. 9/25/2009

A contractor recommended Tier 1 Heating and Air to me several years ago and I have been using them ever since. I have been very satisfied with the installation and service work that they have done for my remodels and new homes. All I have to do is make one call and I can rely on Tier 1 to come out and get the job done. They take care of things so that I never have to worry. They always address and fix any issues that arise. I also appreciate their honesty. When they give me a quote for a job, they are always right on the mark with what it should be or, if they see a way that they can save me money, they do, which is unusual. In some cases, Tier 1 has repaired things for me even though the warranty had expired. I have not asked them to do that, they just did it. That is good business. Alan D. Little more
