Figured since they were the ""laptop guy"" their specialty would be in laptops. Taking my laptop to them I should be back up and running in a couple days. Right? Boy was I WRONG!!...

Great Service and Great People 12/19/2011

I had a laptop problem and a friend recommended The Laptop Guy. I used the online website to place a service order and then took it directly to the store. I immediately felt confident that it was in good hands because after explaining the issue to Mike (the service technician), he seemed to follow what I was talking about. I received a phone call letting me know that it was back from diagnostics and what my options were. My computer was fixed and it's been working great ever since. Kudos to this business for their user-friendly website, knowledgeable technicians, and their after-service email asking about my experience. more

Rip off 10/22/2011

These guys run a racket. My nephew took his HP Pavilion dv2000 to them for repair. They charged him something like $75.00 as their base fee ""to take a look at it"" and then told him his system board was fried and would need replaced and be really expensive. In their opinion, he was better off replacing it. LUCKILY, they just happen to SELL refurbished laptops as well ... I googled it and found dozens of reports that the graphics chip overheats and loosens the solder that connects it to the motherboard. I'd never opened a laptop before other than unscrewing the hard drive door to change a hard drive, but I was able to crack open his dv2000 and fix the gpu chip by re-heating the solder connections with a hot air gun. An hour later it was done ... no new parts necessary, but he was out $75.00 from having to pay for someone at the Laptop guy to try to sell him a new computer. more

Where do you go when your laptop crashes? The Laptop Guy! 1/25/2011

When my laptop crashed for the second time, and could not repair itself or restore back to a working spot, I thought it was gone forever. I contacted the Laptop Guy, stopped by the shop, and after taking notes from my description, they promised to run diagnostics and to let me know if it was fixable. When the call came that it could be fixed, they gave me multiple options that could be taken. I chose one of the options, and several days later, the laptop was ready to be picked up. They had performed the work as described and I was satisfied. I recommend you contact the Laptop Guy to see if they can help you out. more

Great Service 10/6/2010

Had a wonderful experience with The Laptop Guy. Needed an old laptop fixed up. The tech called me with the problems and gave me his recommendations.....did what he told me to do, they called a few days later and I was picking it back up. It works great....no problems. The young man that helped me at pick up was very nice and patient even though I had several questions that I am sure were ""elementary"" in his world. But the best part of all were the two sweetheart dogs that greeted me!! I will go back anytime I need a laptop or need one fixed. more

Laptop repair 3/25/2009

Figured since they were the ""laptop guy"" their specialty would be in laptops. Taking my laptop to them I should be back up and running in a couple days. Right? Boy was I WRONG!!! All I needed was to have the hinges replaced for my top. Common problem with HP's. When I took it in they said they would have to send it to the shop for a diagnosis? I can diagnose it myself, I needed hinges. They said they had to check the hard drive etc? WHY? I needed hinges. The computer was working fine. This was going to cost me $79.00 but they graciously rolled that in with repairs. 2-5 business days for them to tell me I would need hinges. That is what their policy stated. 7 business days later they called me and said that I needed new hinges (no duh) and the repair would be $229 + tax. Kind of pricey. Repairs were going to be 2-5 days. I am noticing a theme here? Day 5 I am calling and they tell me it is done. Why no one called? Not sure something about finished late in the day and since I couldn't pick it up that day they wouldn't call until the next business day. I live a hour away, and had I known the computer was done I would have stayed in Columbus and waited for them to open. Special trip in to pick up computer. So looking over the receipt they said they inspected the case for stress cracks. Well the lid has several cracks but nothing was said to me about it (doesn't affect the computer, but don't tell me you are going to do something then not even note or document problems found). It says that they polished it to give it that new look....NOT! I will find someone else to work on my laptop in the future! Pros: Completed work Cons: Time and cost more
