I WILL NEVER GO ANYWHERE ELSE! 4/9/2012

One of my co-workers had the cutest pair of glasses and when I asked her about them, she recommended I go to the Hour Glass. I am so glad she did! This place had thousands of pairs of glasses - literally! The entire staff was friendly and gave me their honest opinions to help me narrow down the ones I had picked out. I will never go anywhere else! more

Great service and huge selection! 12/10/2010

I was skimming over places to get a new set of sunglasses and this place kept popping up on the top of search engines and had some good reviews and two bad ones. It seems though the two bad ones where from the same person. The person said ""other reviews complained of broken frames"" but the only other one was posted on the same day. Must be the same irate person. They also said the hour glass was a c- ranking by the BBB, so I investigated this more reliable source. I found that it has a c+, but only due to insufficient information or no knowledge to make an informed judgement so they issued it the default c+. I decided to stop by along with a sporting goods store and another optical. I must say the hour glass experience was great they treated me a college student like a young professional. Once I walked in the door I was greeted and asked how I could be helped, which was a change from the other 2 places. One place i had to wait five minutes just to get someone to open a case for me. The selection at the Hour Glass was amazing along with the service. I don't know what happened to the reviewer with broken frames but you can't buy a Kia and expect for Toyota to work on it especially to keep Kia's warranty in tack. Maybe their frames were very worn or cheaply purchased at like a wal mart optical, that a higher end retailer wouldn't sell. I don't know. I do know though I had great service, and great new shades. I even caught them on a great deal during a special. Thank you hour glass! more

Broken Frames 5/10/2010

The hour glass is now making their customers sign a release saying that the hour glass will not return your money if they break your frames while working on them or adding new lenses when the frames were purchased elsewhere. The hour glass will not compensate you for the damage they did to your frames, and will still charge you for putting the lenses in your now useless frames after they break them. This is like if you took your car to the auto shop and the mechanic dropped your car off the lift while working on it. Then the auto shop refuses to pay for the damage they did to your car, and on top of that charges you for the work they did before destroying your car. I find this outrageous and ethically questionable. When I voiced concern to the manager at the Lafayette street store about the issue she responded by yelling at me, and claiming that the hour glass does not break peoples frames. If the hour glass doesn’t break people’s frames then why are there other reviews of people saying that their frames were broken by the hour glass, and why does the hour glass have the release in the contract. There are many other eyeglass shops that do not have this release. I am taking my business to one of them. The hour glass currently has a C- rating from the better business bureau. Customers beware! more
