Broken Frames 5/10/2010

The hour glass is now making their customers sign a release saying that the hour glass will not return your money if they break your frames while working on them or adding new lenses when the frames were purchased elsewhere. The hour glass will not compensate you for the damage they did to your frames, and will still charge you for putting the lenses in your now useless frames after they break them. This is like if you took your car to the auto shop and the mechanic dropped your car off the lift while working on it. Then the auto shop refuses to pay for the damage they did to your car, and on top of that charges you for the work they did before destroying your car. I find this outrageous and ethically questionable. When I voiced concern to the manager at the Lafayette street store about the issue she responded by yelling at me, and claiming that the hour glass does not break peoples frames. If the hour glass doesn’t break people’s frames then why are there other reviews of people saying that their frames were broken by the hour glass, and why does the hour glass have the release in the contract. There are many other eyeglass shops that do not have this release. I am taking my business to one of them. The hour glass currently has a C- rating from the better business bureau. Customers beware! more
