Best

The BEST is the BEST...and these ARE! Then I go shopping! Not a bad deal.

Worst

This has got to be the absolutely the worst Home Depot in the entire country. Please avoid going there at all costs!! They must have zero standards for hiring their employees beca...

Editorial review from Citysearch 6/24/2014

waited over an hour for an online order that consisted of PAPER TOWELS. when the guy told me he was going to go get it himself, he returned 25 minutes later asking me if anyone had brought my order up to me. basically what i'm saying is I saw 15 plus employees just standing around chit chatting. lazy and very unhelpful. I will steer clear of the north ave home depot from now on more

Lazy American Workers Found HERE! 6/14/2011

Since this store has opened including the one at Roosevelt Road/Indiana South Loop area, have all my shopping experiences have been so dismal and frustrating. Life was better when small business operations ran our country. This store is the PERFECT EXAMPLE of why BIG BOX STORES need to go. They(Home Depot) pride themselves on beign a super Gynormous store where it takes forever to get from one end of the store to the other, especially when you are in a hurry to work done. Locked doors with no alt. direction where to enter or leave plagues this store. Employees that do not care about their jobs runs rampant. Basic Customer Service and fundamentals of the service GO OUT THE WINDOW. Long lines plauge this store. Not enough people to help. NEVER FINDING HELP! Managers hiding elswhere especially the night managers. Again NO Visisble help. The Tool Rental Department is a Joke at both stores(South loop and North Ave). Good luck if you can get the attendants attention to stopping the clock on your Rental. Wait time is over ONE HOUR if you are Returning or getting a Rental tool or Van. If there is one good employee that would be JEN in the tool dept. SLOW SLOW SLOW SLOW service! Never use the online service either. Everytime I use it and spend hours at a time dealing with people over the phone, the end result is always the same. OUT OF STOCK! Even when they show it in stock, This store is ridiculously out of touch. Beware of complaining to a manager or the GM in charge because the GM too will give you the same response that one will frustrate you to the point where you wish you could go back to the days of REAL SERVICE. This is the prime example of why BIG BOX STORES suck! BIG TIME. Oh you will find some people totally satisfied with this store but agian Americans are so easily satisfied. WAKE UP! more

The Home Depot 'Promise' - and Selling Old Tools For New 8/15/2009

I tried the 'Home Depot promise' of ""we'll beat any price plus reduce our price by a further 10%"" on a new combo set of Ridgid power tools I found on Amazon. \r Home Depot North Ave agreed to give me a new set at the same price, but refused to give me the 10% discount, saying that they do not regard Amazon as a competitor. Seems like they do not regard any other company that charges less than they do to be a competitor, making their promise an empty one (when it suits them). \r As I had already placed a $2500 home delivery order with them, I accepted this reluctantly. \r When the 'new' set of tools was delivered with the rest of my order, the package had been opened, the impact driver had been substitued for an old, used demo unit with marker writing all over it and some of the accessories were missing. \r I spent hours on the phone trying to get a replacement, and was eventually told that they had sent me a 'clearance item', therefore would not replace it. After this, the manager refused to speak to me again.\r So I got scammed into buying the 'new set' from Home Depot, then they scammed me into receiving an old set of tools with bits missing, instead of a new one, as promised. \r I have taken the matter to the Fraud Department at the Consumer Dvision of the Illinois Attorney General's Office and am waiting for their response and action.\r Whatever the outcome of this may be, Home Depot will never see me again. more

Most everything you need... Anytime you need it 3/5/2009

This store is huge and well stocked with everytthing from plants to plasterboard. Electrical, plumbing, appliances, paints, carpet, windows, doors. Get the idea? If you have a project, you can pretty much get everything you need in one place. Nothing too high end mind you but good serviceable stuff at fair prices. Pretty good staff too more

Handyman's delight 7/26/2005

Don't settle for the smaller version on Halsted, go to the big boy to be sure you get what you need. Very seldom do I find an employee who doesn't have some useful knowledge. And when checking out go to the far registers near the tool rental section. Lines are always shorter and quicker. PROS: everything you need CONS: busy more

Good selection of appliances and other hardware 4/20/2005

We bought our chest freezer from this store and were very pleased with the customer service. The staff helped us select the freezer and then assisted us to the car. Top notch service! more

This place makes me wish I were handy 5/30/2002

I usually drop into Home Depot for one small item (usually a plant or some garden-related thing), but I end up wandering the aisles, dreaming about home-improvement. Odd? Yes. But I know I'm not alone. The variety at this store is good, and there's usually a nice range of prices and quality. Sometimes you'll run into an employee here that has no idea what you're looking for, but for the most part the staff is friendly and willing to help. If they can't answer your question, they'll help you track down someone who can. Pros: Good parking more
