Review content:
I tried the 'Home Depot promise' of ""we'll beat any price plus reduce our price by a further 10%"" on a new combo set of Ridgid power tools I found on Amazon. \r Home Depot North Ave agreed to give me a new set at the same price, but refused to give me the 10% discount, saying that they do not regard Amazon as a competitor. Seems like they do not regard any other company that charges less than they do to be a competitor, making their promise an empty one (when it suits them). \r As I had already placed a $2500 home delivery order with them, I accepted this reluctantly. \r When the 'new' set of tools was delivered with the rest of my order, the package had been opened, the impact driver had been substitued for an old, used demo unit with marker writing all over it and some of the accessories were missing. \r I spent hours on the phone trying to get a replacement, and was eventually told that they had sent me a 'clearance item', therefore would not replace it. After this, the manager refused to speak to me again.\r So I got scammed into buying the 'new set' from Home Depot, then they scammed me into receiving an old set of tools with bits missing, instead of a new one, as promised. \r I have taken the matter to the Fraud Department at the Consumer Dvision of the Illinois Attorney General's Office and am waiting for their response and action.\r Whatever the outcome of this may be, Home Depot will never see me again.
