The Cloisters

First of all this place may look okay from the outside but within and sometimes outside of the walls there is mold, whether in the townhomes or the apts you can hear everything your neighbor does even bathroom usings, management is rude and uncaring, loses documents, don't like to give handwritten regular receipts for payments, if you don't have rent paid on the 1st you get 65-75 dollars added and if that's not paid by the 6th you get 167 dollars added to that for eviction filing on top of your rent amount, no place for a family, for there is no place for children to play safely. Maintance sucks they take forever and a day to respond to work orders and then when they do come they rarely fix the problem and have attitudes with the service, they don't keep the grounds picked up as well. For the amount you pay to live here, please spend your hard eraned money in a place that is welcoming and efficent from office management to maintance. Make copies of all documents you give them to cover your back. You see alot of turnover here people move in alot because they plant a good deal until you get your first bill and extra stuff is on there that wasn't discussed before hand, you will also see alot of people moving out, breaking leases. The office staff greets you warmly when you are inquiring but once you sign on the line and they have your money, that warm greeting is gone for as long as you stay a tenant. So check this place out with a fine tooth comb before you call this place home! It's far from it! more

While we haven't had issues with safety, parking or noise level since we're back in the townhouses and on a cul-de-sac, the office staff is HORRIBLE! We moved in June 2009 and currently are still here, but are not going to renew our lease next June. Every time we've called the office regarding our AC not working (When it's over 95 outside), we've actually been told, "Oh well ... not our problem." This is twice in the last week we've been told the same thing. Also, they tack on a $99.90 LATE FEE because they didn't post our rent payment until the 6th of July when we paid it the 1st. How is that OUR fault that they can't do something correctly? I've lived in two other apartment complexes and I will NEVER EVER rent through Empirian or the Cloisters again. The management doesn't have a clue. They lost personal paperwork of ours and it took me four months to get it straightened out. They lied to us and tried raising our rent $100. The maintenance is a joke. It took them a whole week and every person they have to fix our air conditioner and after a week they figured out they had it wired backwards. Another time our fridge went out and they brought us a new one. Instead of taking the time to level it out right, the maintenance guy went outside and got a piece of mulch and stuck it under one of the corners and said there you go. I am not kidding! I have seen tons of cars that have been broken into and they sent us a letter one time saying that a girl was raped by someone who forced their way into her apartment. This place is terrible!! First of all,I like to speak about the positive...there is nothing positive about this place!You are not able to see your town house until you have already paid and signed a lease.Your first bill for rent has many other charges that they never tell you about.So have deep pockets.The rent is due on the first,if you do not pay on the first a $65 fee is attached and 3 days later,a $165.00 eviction fee is also tacked on.When they tell you water is included that is not true, you pay a percent of what the entire building uses with extra service fees because they control the water meters, example if your neighbor has the water running all day long and you only use it to take showers you end up paying for what your neighbor used on top of what you have used.If you have new carpet in your apt,I guarantee,the padding is old and nasty and that is technically illegal.Not to mention UNHEALTHY FOR YOUR BABY TO CRAWL ON!!! THE OFFICE STAFF IS ON COMMISSION!!!So they will tell you what ever it takes so they get paid.The office is full of rude women, and lazy maintenance men.I completely agree to the last two reviews...no place for a family! My car has been broke into twice and the office doesn't care.Speeding and loud car stereos all day and all night.Young kids (underage) drinking sitting on their cars drinking alcohol,cursing, yelling, and throwing their cans and bottles in the parking lot all night long.Dog "mess" EVERYWHERE, PITT BULLS NOT ON LEASHES..in the summer time it smells like hot dog "mess" that come in your windows because people do not pick it up.People also walk their dogs away from their doors and let them "mess" in front of yours.PLEASE LOOK REAL HARD AT OTHER APTS BEFORE YOU COME HERE!! I know there is always going to be something not cool about any apt you go to but, for gods sake this is freaking ridiculous.Not to mention, HIGH WAY ROBBERY!!!!!
