Great place for your cat 6/6/2011

I found the staff to be very sensitive and professional. I had a cat that went in last week for an upper respiratory infection. They put her on antibiotics but they were also concerned with her enlarged kidney. Over the next few days she became really sick. I called the office after hours and they called me right back. I brought her in this morning and we got the bad news from the doctor that she had cancer. The doctor was very sensitive to my cat(and my wallet) by not putting her through anymore tests. Then they let my family come in after we all got off work to say our goodbyes. Thank you so much for your concern for me and my beloved cat. more

Poor care 5/27/2010

If I could give them no stars I would. Rude staff and inconsistent estimates. They cannot do any major surgeries or tests in house, they have to wait for someone to come on certain days. They do not recommend appropriate treatments or diagnose correctly. more

Cat Hospital is FABULOUS! 9/26/2009

The staff at The Cat Hospital saved my cat's life. I found their staff to be top notch from the first call to Janine to my exit with my recovering cat. \r \r Drs. Shanker and Hanney took care of my cat. Dr. Shanker explained my options and the cost of care carefully. I appreciated this because it allowed me to choose the treatment vs. fear unknown costs. He answered all of my "what if" questions patiently. \r \r Dr. Hanney clearly outlined the discharge plan for my cat and took what I feel was too much time with me. I felt guilty keeping her occupied for so long. She listened as I told her his case history and my concerns. She addressed all of my concerns.\r \r All of the techs and front office staff were kind, sympathetic and professional. They let me know that I could visit or call whenever I wanted during business hours. I called and visited daily during his stay. I got updates by phone and in person. I left with detailed instructions for medicating my cat and all items necessary for doin more

Poor Customer Service and All About the Money! 11/14/2008

I use to take my cat to the Cat Hospital for over 12 years, but year by year the customer service decreased and I felt all they were about was the money. They put my 17 year old to sleep as she was just too old and they did not send me a card or anything. They were all about collecting their money and then one of the technician asked me why I was putting my cat down as she seemed fine. It was horrible. It was the first cat I had every had to put down an animal. I got two new cats a year later and they misdiagnosed one of my cats, who ended up dying because of their misdiagnosis. I would never recommend the Cat Hospital. I now take my cat to Princeton Vet and they are wonderful. When they put my cat down, the one that was misdiagnosed, they sent me a card signed by everyone and it was the first time I had every taken my cat there. They are compassionate and caring. Switch to Princeton Vet. They rock! more

So far so good 7/8/2008

Switched our cat care to the Cat Hospital about 2 years ago and have been really pleased with the care and the overall approach to care. Rather than tell you what must be done they come alongside with suggestions and let the pet owner make the decisions. more

Not that impressed 1/28/2008

I went there only twice. I agree that the front desk staff are not friendly at all. I had to board my girl there. When I picked her up she was in a another cage and didn't have the blanket I left her. My cat didn't eat the 2 days she was there. The Cat Hospital... the should name it something else. We all know people with cats can be a little picky - LIKE A CAT. The Cat Hospital needs to be more sensitive to our animal's an owners. more

Frustration is in store if you take your cat here 12/13/2007

Front desk staff inefficient and not entirely friendly. Dr. Hanney is great; the clearly explained to me the treatment course and price. Dr. Shanker has terrible cat-side manner, terrible customer manner, and tries to sneak extra charges. I got the feeling that he didn't think explaining to me the treatment course was worth his time. It takes about 40 minutes to pick up kitty at end of day due to staff never being able to locate files and enter charges. I hate to bag on the front desk staff, as I get the feeling that 1. they are treated very badly by Dr. Shanker and 2. they are probably overworked. However, it makes it VERY difficult when calling to get an update, or to schedule an appointment. more

Life Savers 11/1/2007

We have had 2 cats, Oscar and Felix, for 5 years. Dr.s Shanker and Hanney have been their primary vets for their whole lives. In February, after a stunning 4lb weight loss in 3 months,(traced back to industry poisoned cat food), Oscar was properly diagnosed with moderate kidney disease. It is now November, and after 9 months of twice-weekly fluid injections, an iron supplement, and a special diet, he has regained 2.5 of those pounds. The Cat Hospital saved Oscar's life and I am eternally grateful. The staff is always ready with a smile, and kind and compassionate. I am so glad that I chose to bring my boys here and I would recommend that anyone do the same. more

Dr. Shanker is excellent, rest of staff somewhat unfriendly 10/6/2007

I had several cats that used to go to the Cat Hospital. Dr. Shanker helped one when major surgery was required. He did an excellent job. The same cat later died of kidney failure there after having been there for a week or so. We eventually had to have him put down. The staff was not very compassionate when this happened. In fact, I found the front desk staff there to be somewhat unfriendly and they would almost act as if they were doing you a favor at times. This place is also quite pricey. For these reasons, I have not taken my new cat there. more

Cat died 8/16/2007

and all they wanted was $$$$!!! I didn't have any cash and wanted to pay with my American express. They wouldn't take it at the time and DEMANDED I bring another form of payment. They called me 3 times in one day ( when I told them I would bring the $$$ in two days ) and were really really rude. My Cat just died. You would think they would have some compassion.\r Dr. Shanker was okay but not very compassionate either. The prices are WAY overboard compared to other clinics. more

Seems OK 8/16/2007

We used them when we lived in Campbell. Tried a few other vets after moving away. Decided it was worth the 15 minute drive to use them again. (Unhappy with Banfield. Not crazy about Sunnyvale Animal Clinic.) Pros: Pleasant, knowledgeable doctors. Detailed, clear explanations and advice. Moderate pricing for most basic services. Cons: Sometimes a long wait. Some procedures are pretty costly. more

The Cat Hospital Campbell, CA 7/16/2007

The front office staff are for real - amazingly ignorant and very rude and sometimes downright deny care based upon what they feel fits their mood !! The only reason this place still exists is due to the high level of knowledge and true caring that Dr. Shanker provides. Sorry, Hanney doesn't know a cat from a dog!!! Pros: Total feline hospital Cons: Terrible support staff, seen better at shelters... more

Million Dollar Cat 11/24/2006

I took my cat here and said I think she has a furball. Well, we had to have an x-ray and they decided it was probably allergies. $300-odd later the cat was still sick, so I took her back. They wanted another x-ray (""different area""), another $350 - still not better but they rang me and said she should have an ultrasound ($350). I didn't go back, bought a $5 tube to treat a furball and our cat is better than ever. I found one of the girls on the reception rude, too. I'm not going back. What a rip-off. Cons: price more

Been here for years 7/25/2006

Ever since I got my cat I take her here.\r \r Top notch staff and excellent desk staff make this place great. Everyone is so gentle and you can really tell they love your pet as much as you do. more

Been taking our cat for a long time 7/13/2006

Our cat is great and she is 16 now and doing wonderful. I'd like to attribute her long lasting life to the Cat hospital for all the wonderful care they have given her in the past. more

Best Care for Cats 6/13/2006

I have had my cat for over ten years and I like Dr. Shanker and The Cat Hospital so much that when I moved 40 minutes away five years ago, I still go to Campbell to take my cat in. My cat has had some long term health issues and Dr. Shanker is very sensitive about price and makes you fully aware of how much every procedure will cost before he does it and gives you the choice of what you think is necessary. The Cat Hospital is also much more affordable than any of the other Animal Hospitals I have been to in the last 30 years with my other animals. I highly recommend Dr. Shanker and The Cat Hospital. more
