Best

I am in love with this place. A true LA bookstore.

Worst

I love their red velvet cupcakes and their carrot cake muffins. But if you choose to dine in there be ready for bad service (the waiter too 15 minutes to get us water and our dri...

Nice new theater 5/19/2002

The sound and visuals have been great the times I have been here. At least now when everything here is new and shiny it's really nice. The 1940's look is neat; I wonder if it will keep up as the theater gets older. They have quite a bit of staff, usually short lines if any, the surrounding open air mall is about as nice as malls can be. Parking is easy. Being a bit taller than average (6'2"") I don't care too much for the stadium seating thing; but most people really like it. more

Don't expect a mega mall here 5/19/2002

I think the best part of the grove is the movie theater. If you don't like waiting in long lines for a movie, try the loge section. For couple of bucks more, you get seated first. Not only that, you can order your food while seated and they'll bring it to you. The mall itself is a bit disappointing with limited number of stores. But at least you can walk over to the old farmer's market and grab some fresh produce on the way home. more

Why Do I Like This Mall? 5/19/2002

For some inexplicable reason, I really like this mall. Maybe it's the pseudo-Disney atmosphere. Maybe it's the Bellagio-esque singing fountains. Maybe it's the restroom attendants. Maybe it's the most centrally located Anthropologie store. Maybe I am just getting old and boring. But don't ignore the real Farmer's Market. Get a cup of gumbo at the Gumbo Pot before going to the movie theater. more

Great for an afternoon 5/19/2002

The Grove was an unexpected pleasant surprise. We had a wonderful afternoon - lunch at Farmers Market then a leisurely shopping trip on ""Main Street"" - the trolly is Disneyesque and the fountains are pure Bellagio. I hope they do outdoor concerts here in the summer - it is the perfect setting. Pros: variety, open spaces, atmosphere Cons: lacking restrooms more

Fantastic Theater/Great Seating 5/16/2002

The Grove Theaters just opened up. They are all stadium seating with plenty of space for everybody, even people on crutches or in wheelchairs. The lobby is huge with uniformed staff, clearly trying to echo the 1940s movie palaces. The Farm, a restaurant/coffee shop, is connected and adjacent so that you can eat on your way to and from a show. The Beverly Center/Connection Theaters will get pretty quiet from now on. more
