Best

I am in love with this place. A true LA bookstore.

Worst

I love their red velvet cupcakes and their carrot cake muffins. But if you choose to dine in there be ready for bad service (the waiter too 15 minutes to get us water and our dri...

Overrated - Overpriced 1/28/2004

Eating at The Farm at the Grove was decidely like eating at a Ponderosa in a mall in Des Moines for 4 times the price. It's was badly overlit, and the ""farm"" chatchki seemed more appropriate to a Honey Baked Ham than an upscale eatery. My burger was overdone, and the meat was fairly tasteless anyway. Despite the paucity of patrons our waitress seemed far more intent on chatting up the bus boys than checking on us. Lesson learned. Pros: Close to theatres, that's it Cons: , Service, Ambience more

disney meets vegas? 8/22/2003

Traffic to the grove was pretty packed, but once we got to the parking lot, easy to find parking, with the meters telling you which story has how many parking... obviously the top had around 500 open spots... Theres lots of stores around here to keep busy for awhile, but once you reached the end, you really reached the end. I had no problem ordering and calling for more food. The tracks and the lights remind me of Disneyland and the water show reminds me of vegas. The movie line was pretty long, but thats what i expected from a popular shopping center. A great place to bring dates for a short stop, parking didn't cost much and the bev center is just down a few blocks. Overall, prices are bad and no sales, but late at night its a great place to be for a little bit of relaxation. Pros: out door, many attractions Cons: expensive, crowded, need expansions more

Date Spot 7/9/2003

The theater is very nice...Take a date kinda pricy but worth it...comfy seats...great retro theater look.. Pros: Nice, clean Cons: parking, pricy more

LOVED it 6/1/2003

Great food, great vibe, fair prices - and even celebrities for those who want that out of their dining experience. awesome! Pros: good food, good atmosphere, great prices Cons: parking, crowded more

Don't bother w/ Visions in Crystal 5/12/2003

Love everything about the Grove except for one of the cart vendor (Visions in Crystal). They want your money but won't give you customer service you deserve. What they'll give you is major attitude. And no respect for my guest who doesn't speak fluent english, the funny thing is The Grove is suppose to be one of the tourist attraction in LA. What did he expect everyone to speak english fluently? maybe this person from Vision in Crystal shouldn't be living in LA. Just wanted people out there to know what to expect from this vendor. Would've been a great experience if it wasn't because of the Vision in Crystal vendor. more

Life at the movies. 4/15/2003

This theater is incredible. It has an old theater charm like the Kodak. The prices are close to most theaters but the atmosphere is the reason to pay a little more. The seats are nice and cozy and if the movie you are watching includes the VIP lounge area it's a splended view from the top. There is also always a chance of star watching. Pros: nice seats,, great treatment,, nice atmosphere Cons: bthrms dirty,, parking more

thumbs up :) 3/21/2003

one of the best movie theatres in LA...i really enjoyed the love seats and the beautiful interior of the theatre lobby. service is great and its never too crowded. great for a date with friends or a significant other...especially if you linger around the water fountain before or after the movie Pros: love seats, not crowded, clean Cons: movie selection, some small theatres, no student discounts more

The Grove is Great 3/5/2003

The Grove is an awesome upscale-feeling place to 'hang out' if you wanna get a coffee, grab a movie, or just browse the books at the huge Barnes & Noble. Also, its conveniently attached to the Farmer's Market if you want a variety of 'down home' foods to select from. The shopping at the Grove its good, but not overwhelming like at the Beverly Center. Also, I think Its theme park atmosphere is part of its charm. Be sure not to miss the fountain show - who knew water could be so fun to watch? This place is a great outdoor mall to take out of town guests...its relaxed and great for people watching. Pros: Outdoor Shoppping, Farmer's Market, Movie Theatre more

UGGH! 2/23/2003

UGGH! Crowded, crowded, crowded! Contrived Disneyland atmosphere and not a great assortment of stores. Parking is almost as bad as the Westside Pavililon. Nice movie theaters, but long lines. I'll stick to the Beverly Center for shopping & freestanding theaters like Arclight when I want to go to the movies. Pros: nice movie theaters Cons: crowded, tacky architecture, bad parking more

Best brunch in Beverly Hills? 2/19/2003

I was very pleased with my recent visit to The Farm. A friend and I stopped by this restaurant for a Sunday brunch and enjoyed the meal, the atmosphere, and the service we received. Prices were excellent and the food was, well, yummy! Look forward to going again. Pros: reasonable prices, fabulous food Cons: crowded on Sunday more

BEst theater in the country 2/7/2003

I've been to the bridge, to the arclight -- THE GROVE IS THE BEST THEATER IN THE COUNTRY. If you want giant screens, super sound -- this is it. This theater is the ulimate movie going experience. If only their concessions matched the theater. more

old timer 1/30/2003

I find your theater at the Grove very comfortable, the screen great, but what I find the greatest convenience is that people can get by without falling or stepping on the seated person. The biggest difference is however the fact that people in front of the viewer are seated much lower and consequently don't bother the people behind. All together a great theater. Pros: comfortable, great screen, good atmosphere more

The very best!!! 1/30/2003

The Gilmore Foundation has done one fabulous job in creating a gathering place for all kinds of people. It is beautiful, convenient, fun, and the most enjoyable place anywhere in this area. Highly recommended for everyone. Pros: convenient, lots of variety, perfect more

Simply The Best 1/15/2003

The new Grove Theaters are the best movie theaters to go to in L.A.! Pros: Good Parking, Comfortable seats Cons: Sells Out more

No sales?! What? 1/14/2003

The grove is a fabulous place to go and people watch, but not to shop. I was amazed that some of the retail stores actually have the policy of not putting items on sale in their Grove location. The exact same item may be on sale in other of the store's locations, but I guess the owners think that this is a high $ area. Apparently they haven't looked across the street to the hellacious Big K or Ross. Pros: Great People, Good Theater Cons: No SALES more

not another open door mall! 1/14/2003

If you're looking for an outdoor spot to shop and eat, you're better off sticking with 3rd Street or Old Town Pasadena. This contrived outdoor mall feels like ToonTown, the Bellagio, and a hack-version of 3rd Street--all rolled into one. You've got your standard mall-type stores here. The only benefit to shopping at the Grove is the Farmer's Market. But then again, the Farmer's Market is a landmark destination in and of itself. Pros: Farmer's Market, it's outdoors Cons: contrived, nothing unique more

More than nice.... 1/12/2003

I love the Grove since I can't stand the typical malls that have everything under one roof. Although there's no extraordinary stores but it's still a great place to walk around, shop, see a movie, and grab a bite to eat. Also there's live music during the weekends! more

Retro charm 12/22/2002

Loved this theater! I hear for $2 extra a ticket you can have leather recliner seats with food service. Can't wait to try it out! The regular seats are great. The theater has a retro feel that transports you to a different era. Highly recommend this theater and the mall (The Grove) to all. Pros: Excellent atmosphere Cons: expensive more

Ignore Angry Art Hound -- BEST in LA! 12/19/2002

What's not to love? The theater is consistently clean, the concessions well-stocked, the staff extraordinarily friendly (and in those absurd chinstraps, no less!). But it's all about those seats. They beat the hell out of the ArcLight's. Everything about the Grove is a pleasure. The one minus is that the movie selection is occasionally lacking, but they seem to have rectified that in recent months. And, it CAN be a tad overcrowded outisde, but the theaters themselves are set up so that you never feel cramped even when the room is packed, which it usually is. Can't say enough good things. Pros: Courteous staff more

Best Theater in My Side of the Town 12/18/2002

Everything is perfect. My only complain? Well, what's up with the movie selections? Some of 'em are outdated for God's sakes! The ""My Big Fat Greek Wedding"" has stayed there for 6 months+. What the heck? more
