The wait area is set up like a little cafe, to make everyone really comfortable. When my car was ready, the sales rep came upstairs and sat down next to me and explained what was up. He said my brakes were worn and I needed new ones, etc. I wouldn't get them replaced at the dealer since I have a good friend in Indiana who's been a mechanic for 15 years. (And, hello, cheaper tax!) Anyway, I actually said that to the sales rep and he didn't pressure me at all. He actually said, ""Ok, just take this paper to him so he can see what you need done."" I thought that was nice. \r more

Each time I have been to Autobarn, the customer service reps have been so nice and accommodating, always trying to get me the best deal they can while making sure I get my car taken care of. more

A huge smile across our faces! 2/2/2011

This was our second purchase at Autobarn in 14 months...first a Nissan Rogue at the Nissan dealer across the street...now a 2011 Mazda 3 GT sedan. First of all we were treated just as good as the first time (hence the return)we got the car we wanted in the color I had to have (Copeer Red with Dune leather) which by the way was the only one available in the state of Illinois according to Mazdausa Our salesperson was from Nissan but others at the Mazda building were friendly and the managers (Dan and Mike) were quick to make a good deal at an amazing price. Our whole transaction was completed in less than 2 hrs....none of that back and forth crap plus we drove away with a full tank of gas and a huge smile across our faces! more

Helpful, friendly, and accommodating. 1/31/2011

I worked with Steve who also was helpful, friendly, and accommodating. He easily answered questions I had about the car. When I explained it would come down to ""dollars and cents"" and I needed to go home to think about it, I wasn't pressured. VERY MUCH APPRECIATED! Nothing makes me want to buy a car less than when I feel like I'm being forced into it. I came back the next day, worked out a great deal with Steve and the finance department and drove away in my new car. more

I got a very good deal 1/21/2011

I was trying to sell my 2008 Volkswagen Jetta. I got quotes from $11,000-$12,000. Which to me was very low. From this place I got a very good deal. Compared to other places in Evanston. I would recommend this place. Very friendly sales guys. more

Love the whole crew 1/18/2011

NEVER.. had one bad experience here! Love the whole crew in the service dept! I moved to Chicago from Dallas and was searching for a clean safe place to take my vehicle for over a year. Thank goodness I finally find them! They also clean my bug and make her look wonderful year round! If you have a bug and live in Chicago.. its worth the drive to Evanston.. not schaumburg.\r more

I recently took my car in for service on two occasions for service. Both times, I was given the highest quality of service with friendly, accommodating staff. On my second visit, I was very frustrated that a minor problem took quite some time to diagnose. The team worked with me to set a fair price for the diagnosis and quickly resolved the issues, once they were learned. I haven't had service like that in a long time! I highly recommend Jason, Jeff, and Rad - who will take good care of you and make sure that you leave a ""happy customer."" Kudos to them and the folks on the service team at the Autobarn Volkswagen of Evanston. more

Exactly what I was looking for 1/3/2011

Dealing with Autobarn was the easiest car buying experience I have ever had. I explained exactly what I was looking for, drove a couple models and was in and out with my new Mazda CX 7 within a couple of hours. I love my new car! more

Everything was very smooth 12/23/2010

I had a terrible experience at a different Mazda dealer. My sister lives in Evanston and I happened to be walking past the dealership. I decided to take my car and have them check it out. Diane was so nice. She and Carl immediately identified what was wrong with the car. I had two recalls on the car and I set up an appointment to have them repaired. Diane was very helpful. When I came to get my car everything was very smooth.\r more

I recently bought a used vehicle from these guys, and finally a car dealership where normal people work! I found the car online, called, they answered. The car was there, they honored the internet price, didn't add any crap like other places where I tried to buy cars recently. \r I would recommend this dealership to anyone who wants a no hassle, low pressure, realistic buying experience. The overall process was enjoyable and my friends and family will be going there when they need cars. more

My mother in law bought a car from the Autobarn and had nothing but positive things to say about these guys.  They have an incredibly large inventory to choose from, but somehow didn't have the exact car she wanted!! They got the vehicle from another dealer, delivered it to the dealer with no addition miles from the transport and gave her a phenomenal deal.  I was also impressed that they scheduled her first service appointment and provided her with free car washes for life!!Thank you Autobarn for making her happy in what ordinarily tends to be an unpleasant experience, buying a car. more
