When I first came to The Acting Corps, I was only looking for a short, intensive course. The Booth Camp I seemed perfect ? 4 weeks of daily training combining the Meisner and Chekhov techniques. I was very impressed with the high standard of teaching and those 4 weeks completely transformed my outlook on acting. I ended up staying at The Acting Corps for over 2 years as I went on to The Boot Camp II and the Advanced Program. The wonderful array of instructors helped me expand my acting tools and gave me the confidence to be more comfortable in front of an audience, which resulted in getting many acting jobs. more

I feel so blessed to be a part of this school! I started learning great things about acting, and the professional industry as soon as I started BootCamp 1. The teachers are amazing, they have all the experience it takes to guide you and help you to evolve into a great actor. Everyone is nice and supportive which you can really feel as soon as you walk into the building. It is a creative home for every artist within. I love the Acting Corps so much that I didn't only do BC1, but I did BC2, the AP and the American Dialect class as well! The Acting Corps provides you with intense acting classes and the best tools! You will have a more clear view on acting and you will be understanding everything you, I love it. more

I started acting classes to try and get over my fear of people. Fear of judgement. Fear of failure. Thankfully Eugene, Luis, Adrian, David, Sydney and Stephen Pressfield (the war of art) quickly helped me get over that hurdle. I'm now in Coreys class and he's been a huge help in making me realize I can actually do this too.'I'm walking here I'm walking here!!!' (Dustin Hoffman - midnight cowboy). more

A great place to learn your craft! When the chance came to write and direct a series of Webisodes, I decided I needed to learn more about the actor's process. A quick search online brought me to the Acting Corps Website, and I've been taking courses there ever since. more

I am very happy with my decision to take classes at The Acting Corps. The initial Boot Camp was an intensive 4 week class, which allowed me to dive right into acting. My instructors were amazing and created an environment where everyone felt free/comfortable to take chances and be him/herself. The four weeks flew by and before I knew it, I was ready to jump into Boot Camp II. Again, I was highly satisfied with my experience. We delved deeper into technique work and scene study. In addition, the Business of Show business class was invaluable. You learn how to navigate this crazy town and industry from experienced, working actors. more

My first approach with training as an Actor began at The Acting Corps. A very fulfilling experience with a great staff you can trust, everybody shares generosity & support. After attending BC1, going through BC2, & following up with the Advanced Program, I feel confident as an Actor, and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Acting Corps to anyone with no experience who is curious with having an approach to craft, or anyone who is looking to polish up their skills. more

Fantastic school. Great teachers who know what they're talking about. Very intensive. Not for people who want to be told they're great when they're not. It's for people who want to get better. more

Serious place for serious people and I love it 5/14/2012

I?ve only completed the first two programs here so far, but I truly love it. The teachers, 4 that I?ve had, are phenomenal and actually know what they?re talking about for getting out there today. And they care. That said, yes this is intense and isn?t for anyone who isn?t serious, but I loved that about it all. They held people accountable. I am serious and felt pushed in a positive way! Thanks to everyone at The Acting Corps! more

What a waste of my hard-earned money and 6 weeks of my life! 4/21/2012

Ignore all the positive fake blogs written by The Acting Corps staff and take my word for this. Ok, so where do I begin... First off, the owner of the acting corps, Eugene Buica, is a scam-artist dickhead. He just wants your money and won't refund it under any circumstances. In addition, he's got the worst IMBD credits compared to any acting coach in L.A. That should be a red flag people! In Bootcamp 1, the guy only taught 1 class out of 18. It's pretty funny how on the BC1 website, Eugene markets himself as if he cares about his student's progress. Bull Crap! He never even knew our names! Aside from that, The Acting Corps curriculum is a joke and speaks for itself. Every class is the same routine, after warm up, the whole class stands in a circle and observes two students perform an exercise called repetition. Basically, the two volunteers hold hands and stare at each other while judging what they're doing, thinking, feeling, ect. The goal is to be present in the moment with your partner. However, in my class, repetition became a constant competition for one student to make the other feel more insecure. I've interviewed several other artistic directors from the best L.A. acting schools, and they all said the same thing regarding a drill like repetition. If done correctly, it's not a bad thing. In theory, it does improve one's ability to read their scene partner. But to practice it for the vast majority of each class and have it be the center of a curriculum is just silly. There are other aspects of the craft repetition doesn't address. The most important being personalization, the idea of finding yourself in a character... BC1 did not even touch on this subject. No, instead we were too busy with repetition and weren't doing any hands-on acting. The entire 6 weeks there, we only performed one actual scene. It was about two gay guys sitting by a lake, talking about a mermaid. It had no conflict, climax, objective, ect... We weren't even taught how to say the lines authentically with images. Every new actor sounded like a robot, and the majority of the feedback was good job, that was great! This school is a joke. I'm running out of room to keep critiquing, but I can talk all night about crucial information BC1 failed to teach. Such as, The Alexander Technique, Improv, Finding a character's physical/psychological objectives, Using your 5 senses, History of the craft, Marketing yourself, The ropes of the modern industry, list goes forever! Go find a school where you will obtain this information and get your money's worth. A school where the guy taking your dough at least cares about your progress. Howard Fine, Doug Warhit, Joseph Pearlman, Ivana, all have great studios with way better reps. It's really tough out there, this is a profession where 98% of us won't make it. So get as much help as you can get, and stay away from the acing corps scam... ;) more

The learning and fun don't stop! 11/15/2011

I don't even know where to begin expressing my gratitude for all that has happened to me at The Acting Corps. I nervously enrolled in BCI back in May of this year not knowing where it would take me. I thought ""Oh, I'll just take the first boot camp and move on to another school from there"". I didn't know what i was in for AT ALL. It's not a place you can just discard and say ""Oh that place is alright"", because it's not ""alright"" it's ""AWESOME"". It's like Pringles potato chips ""once you POP the fun don't stop"". The teaching staff is comprised of working, talented, actors that happen to be kick-ass teachers too. I don't even know what to say about them. Words can't describe how inspiring they have been to me. They all gave me some unique insight to acting that I will always treasure. They all have their very specific ways of teaching that are easy to grasp as a student. All so different yet all so powerful. I could tell that they really love to teach, love their students, and love the craft. Which in turn made me love them! I had the opportunity to be in the Fall Showcase as well as the Works in Progress, which were chances to perform in front of live audiences. I can now perform without letting the nerves kill me. The great thing though, is that at The Acting Corps you get a chance to perform everyday in front of your classmates, in front of cameras and really get to see and feel your progress on a weekly basis. I always left my classes with a clear understanding of what i was doing, what worked in my performances and what i could change. Eugene, thank you so much for finding instructors that are talented, smart, and really care. Thank you for having the team of beautiful ladies in the office. (You must have casting calls, right?) They're always willing to answer a question with a smile. I came to this school with very little acting training but through the acting corps i've found my voice and confidence to move on in this career. It's a great place to go if you've left other schools due to confusion or lack of clarity. It's a great base to begin at and i highly recommend it. You won't regret it. more

Love It!!!! 11/14/2011

I started going to The Acting Corps last year. I went through Boot Camp one, two, and the advanced program. It's been a great experiance for me. The teachers are amazing, positive, and friendly, They only want you to excel and grow with your craft. The Acting Corps staff is professional, polite and really make you feel welcome. more

The tools you need 4/7/2011

I attended the acting Corps Jan 2010 to December 2010. I will say I loved it, The teachers are very good, and Eugene Buica has classes that are easy and strait forward. I went thru Boot Camp 1 and 2, The advanced Program with Eugene, and then stayed on several months after. The teachers I had are actually working actors, and catching one teacher on my favorite prime time show during the year, there was no doubt that I was getting honest know-how and tips and tricks from people who are actually doing it. In BC1, I learned Breathing techniques, a whole lot of repetition, and basics of cold reading and scene work. In BC 2, it got more advanced. We continued working on what we learned in BC1, and started getting more into the business of show-business. On Camera work, auditioning technique, and actively submitting for jobs. We also had the Works In Progress nights where we watched the Advanced Program students perform. So all in all, this was an awesome program that I loved being a part of, and the rules are all there for a reason. So if you are serious about doing this, then it is imperative to your scene partner(s), and class mates to follow them. The staff are very nice, and friendly, and the honest truth, I loved hanging out there after class with my classmates when I had free time. It is a great place to network with people from all over the world, and actors of all levels and background. You have to be honest with why you are coming to this school? There is no place in Los Angeles that will make you an instant star. The acting Corps though will give you the best variety of techniques possible to empower ""you"", the actor to become successful. And it is not a 2 hour class, once a week. It is 5 days a week, of constant practice, understanding, and enlightenment in some cases on what acting can be all about. If you are a first time actor, this will open your mind to a new way of looking at things, and if you are not a first timer, this will give you some new tools to use in your craft. Welcome to Hollywood. more

The Best Acting School! 4/5/2011

Eugene Buica has built the best acting school in Los Angeles. If you are new to acting, or even if you are a veteran thespian, this school will make you the very best actor you can be! I've been thru the whole program, Boot Camp 1 and 2, and the Advanced Program, as well as the Industry Showcase, and I have to say I'm astounded by what I've learned and been able to put into practice. The training I have received is priceless. The curriculum is very well thought out and organized, each class builds on the next. The members of the faculty are all working actors you will see CURRENTLY in television/movies/commercials. You are taught the tools and techniques that are relative in today's acting world. The school has the unique ability to teach both the ACT and the Business of acting. The Acting Corp will help you find what works for you, so that you can be confident on a film or television set. The teachers are great, give you confidence, and they all ASSUME that you will very quickly become a WORKING ACTOR. You learn how to attack a role, but you also learn how to attack an audition! After all, as actors, mostly our job is to audition. The Acting Corps uses on-camera classes to show you EXACTLY how to approach an audition. What to do, what not to do, and how to make yourself stand out! There are also classes on the business of acting, teaching the proper way to create a resume, recommendations on headshots, and one of the best things this school does is take the time to help you determine what roles you will actually be asked to play as a professional actor. Using the eyes and ears of your teacher and also other students, the school helps determine your ""palette."" Are you an ingenue? Do you come across as a bad guy, a good guy? A father or the black sheep uncle? Can you play a mid-west house wife or a biker chick? Determining a ""palette"" can cost upwards of $700 when done individually, but at The Acting Corps its rolled into the cost of Boot Camp 2. Classes on The Business of Hollywood/Acting can cost from $500 to $1000 when taken individually, but again, rolled into the costs of the BootCamps. Plus, you get the best acting instruction in Los Angeles! The Acting Corps is a great school, and a great value, and the place that someone who is serious about becoming an actor should make sure they study! more
