friendly neighborhood terriyaki, the only place my family goes. 3/27/2008

I have read the other few reviews of this place, and based on my experience alone am going to give this place a full rating. They have always been friendly to my family and I (paying extra nice attention to our 2 year old). Our son is particularly picky about what he eats and he loves this place, also my wife and I have yet to find a terriyaki place that we feel tastes as good or better than here. I have worked on the East side and more recently in Tacoma and will occasionally try a local terriyaki place around my job, but have always been disappointed with my experience. This place has ruined me for any other terriyaki. We usually order the same thing, both getting terriyaki chciken, but lately have ventured to other menu items and have found the the yakisobo is excellent as well - I almost want to order both for myself when I'm there, and since our son shares whatever we get, it's almost justifiable. The staff here has always been polite and greet people when they come in the door, at least for the time that we are there, and we've never witnessed anything rude, but that is not to say it doesn't happen, even here. Pros: excellent food, excellent service Cons: seating can get kind of tight depending on when you go more

Rudest place to dine in 11/20/2007

This was the worst Japanese Restaurant I have ever been in for over 20 years. I am a mother of 2 toddlers and am currently pregnant. As usual when my family dines out especially with toddlers, who have their hands on everything and spill their food out of their plates, I clean the table which we are going to eat at. After prepaying for my meal and the food was brought to the table I asked the waitress if I could please have another plate for my son and she turned her back on me while I was still talking. The next incident was when I had ordered at the front counter for a take out for my grandmother and the hostest asked me if I was Chinese. What a weird question but as a common courtesy I answered, yes I am (Chinese American Citizen). After hearing my answer she immediately spoke in her language to a man in a non-friendly manner , backed up at the counter stairing at me with her hands folded on her chest. The man approached me. He then said for me to not clean the table because they clean the table already and it is clean. Well, the term clean is not the same for everyone especially during the cold and flu season. I had explained to them that I did not know that I was not suppost to clean my own table which we were going to eat at after all there was no sign. During this incident I felt hurt that I was being corrected after paying this restaurant over 30.00 for that night and I felt angry that they were discriminating. The question if "I was Chinese" and the series of events that had occured after that has made me feel that they were judging me of my ethnicity. I hope when you select your dining for tonight that you think about what kind of experience you would want to have before you eat at this restaurant. Pros: okay price Cons: Discriminating and rude more

Best Teriyaki joing in the Renton area! 1/13/2007

For a great tasting cheaper teriyaki or Katsu meal this place rocks! The posting prior to this stated that the service was not so good. My wife, daughter and I have gone to this joint almost a dozen times, it is our favorite Teriyaki joint we have found in the renton area so far. Great sized portions for the price and best tasing (again for the price). People have been very friendly and curtious to us. If your looking for a good teriyaki joint in the Renton Lowland area I highly recommend it, general dishes are about $6-$7 a plate and my wife and daughter (not myself being a bigger guy) always have leftovers for later. Thumbs up to the place. Pros: Good food, great service, good price Cons: We have to drive to the lowlands (from the highlands) to eat there. But much worth the drive. more

decent food but bad attitude 12/20/2006

I usually order the tempura udon when I come to this place. I love Japanese food and have been here roughly 10 times. The place does have some decent food for the price but the service is lacking, which I usually don't mind since it's not a sit-down restaurant. The california rolls are not up to par but the chicken teriyaki and yakisoba are fairly decent. Usually, when I walk in the door, I never receive a greeting from the lady taking the order. However, on this particular day, I arrived at noon. There were a couple people in line ahead of me but it wasn't packed or anything. I get to the front to order and the lady just stares at me, no smile, no greeting, no "what would you like to order?" She literally just looked at me. I ordered my usual tempura udon. She looks at me and tells me "that's going to take a long time." I ask her how long. She tells me 30 minutes, which usually only takes 10 minutes. I would not have minded waiting if she had tried be polite. I had passed off the horrible treatment before but after this incident, I left and will never go back again. I would only go to this place if you are ok with decent food, decent prices and bad, unfriendly service. Pros: decent food for the price Cons: unfriendly service more
