I Have a 5 inch surgical scar, on my right forearm, from where the student doctors, at John Petersmith Hospital inserted an IV wrong, in 2010, and, had to cut out part of the vein, in my forearm. This past Tuesday, February 18th, 2014 I had an ambulance take me to John Petersmith, in spite of the fact that I was awake, alert, and, had no injuries! I told them that there was nothing wrong with me, and, that I wanted to go home, but, they took me to see the quacks anyway! The employee's, in the ambulance, and, in John Petersmith were rude, arrogant, and, disrespectful to me, a 63 year old man, and, I was threatened with being arrested, for complaining about the abuse! I have a good friend, who is a veterinarian, who I would trust more, to help me, in an emergency, than I trust John Petersmith! John Petersmith would cause the patient, to have a stroke, with their abusive treatment!\r more

I was sent to JPS in 2009 from another Hosp. to have drain tubes put in and find out why I was getting absest in my gut.. JPS had told the doctor from the other Hosp that they would take me and put them in that day... While I was in the ER waiting to be put in a room and get the drain tubes put in I had a nurse that had a verbably abused me. I through him out of the room and made them give me another nurse. He also refused to give me anything for pain. His name is Joe Snow and I found out he was studing to be a doctor..Well that was a Sunday morning when I got there. They didn't put the drain tubes in until Friday.. They never found out what was going on they told me I was going to have to go out side the Hosp. to find out the out line cause of why I was having these problems.I went to another doctor alright. In Cleburne. I was out of JPS for 1 month. When I saw this other doc. She made me go down stairsand check my self in the hosp. and i was in surgry a couple weeks later. April 1,2009 I had to have all my female parts taken out and they found out why I was having all the problems. My Appendix had a tear in it. 4 months with all those problems. Its a wonder I'm even here.. There clinic called me wanting me to come in and see there doctors at main street clinic I told them I would never go to there hosp ever again in fact I would die on there front door step before I would ever go in. more

9/27/11 my husband was involved in an accident in the ft worth area...he was taken to jps hospital ER...we live in mobile, al...i was totally frantic to get info on his condition..i was told a phone would be taken to him or someone would call me as soon as they could...i received no calls from anyone...i was sick with worry..after hours of waiting i jumped in my car and started to drive 10 hours just to get to my husband... the nurse i spoke to had her own opinion as to my concerns because my husband heard every complaint she made after my calls...she did not know he was right behind the curtain... that was totally unprofessional, i realize the hospital is busy, but someone could have called and let me know something...he just had a heart attach with surgery in january,2011.. he was rearended at a hight speed by a big truck...of course i was concerned. i got to new orleans when finally ;my husband called saying he was ok....thanks JPS...for your call to calm me and reasure me of his condition... more

Don't call 911 4/7/2011

Be advised that if you attempt suicide and then change your mind and call 911, if they take you to JPS you will end up in jail, not on the psychiatric floor. Evidently being mentally ill is a crime, not an illness. more

Extraordinary Service 4/22/2010

I recently went to JPS because I was experiencing some abdominal discomfort. After a series of tests it was determined that I have liver cancer. I ended up being in Tower 2 for a short stay to do more tests. The whole time I was there I was treated like family by the entire staff. All of the nurses were extremely helpful and kind, however one nurse in particular stood out from the rest. Her name was Daphne. I cannot remember her last name. If anyone knows her I would like to get some info on her so I can extended a thank you to her. If anyone needs to use this hospital you will find a superior staff and an excellent facility. Pros: Awesome Staff Cons: NONE!! more

John Peter Smith Hospital Psychiatric Services 3/27/2010

The psychiatric Emergency Room and the psych wards are worse than jail. People who don't like people work there. Physical violence is used like geese pecking a sick goose to death, once he or she is identified as different or a ""trouble maker."" The temperature there is freezing, ""to cut down on bacteria."" Pros: Some techs and a few nurses ok Cons: Most staff are there to punish people more

the most disgusting and dirty hospital I have ever seen 7/15/2009

My son was taken to JPS for a head injury at 6:30 on a Saturday night. As of noon on Sunday I had been told absolutely nothing. I ran into doctors with the God complex. I had to cause a scene to get any information. When he was transferred to a regular room all of his possessions did not go with him. Figure that one out for yourself. His room is filthy, nasty, trashed out and I have taken pictures to prove the disgusting environment. I can not get a response from the customer complaints department. I am taking this to the media for all to see how our tax dollars are NOT being used. I have told them I am checking him out with or without their approval and if needed moving him to a real hospital. Something needs to be done to fix this sorry excuse of a hospital. Pros: not one Cons: everything you can thing of plus some more

PHENOMENAL Care! 6/30/2008

My oldest son was in a horrible automobile accident when he was air lifted to this hospital. His pelvis was fractured on both sides, a leg was broken; he was in a coma; in fact, his injuries were so severe I wasn't given much hope that he would survive the initial surgeries. I live in California and when I received the call from the hospital, from that call to his discharge a month later, the care and attention he received was PHENOMENAL! The trauma team was EXTRAORDINARY! Everyone, and I mean everyone, we came in contact with, helped my son through the intense, personal medical attention he received, but they also helped my other son and I in many other ways including with assistance in finding a place to stay to be close to the hospital. The waiting area for the families of trauma patients was warm and inviting and where we met some of the nicest people we've had the pleasure of knowing. My son had a total of 17 surgeries - 7 at John Peter Smith - the remainder in California after we were able to get him home. Although this happened three years ago, in July 2005, my son is alive and doing FANTASTIC today because of the care he received at John Peter Smith Hospital. My apologies for taking so long to say THANK YOU for saving his life! Pros: Trauma Waiting Room Cons: Lack of internet connection in the waiting area more

I can't beleive I'm the first to write a review on this incredible hospital. These people saved my daughters life! 11/2/2007

My daughter arrived at JPS by life flight after a very serious motor vehicle accident in which she received a fractured skull, broken neck, brain trauma, bruised lung and fractured pelvis. I have been working in hospitals for the past 30 years and know quality care when I see it. JPS was second to none, the staff were incredibly customer oriented and showed genuine compassion and empathy. Technology was state of the art. Everyone! Nurses, Doctors, Housekeepers, Therapists, Cafeteria, Transport, they were all wonderful. And best of all my daughter has awoken from her coma and is alert and not paralyzed. God bless John Peter Smith hospital!!!!!!!!!! more
