Target World

This Sun, I went to Target World to shoot for and hour. I was in line at 1005 am. ( they open at 10 ) I was about 15 people back. After waiting patiently in line , I got to counter and was told to stand aside since I had lost my liability card. Well, another 15 t 20 people went thru and then the rude guy at the counter said us unfortunate people that did not have their cards could now come up to the counter. Well anyway, got a new card and was able to shoot an hour and half later. People were put in front of us waiting. The guy at the counter stopped what he was doing to find out how to load a computer program to his home pc. And would stop to bs with other store employees. I have been around firearms my entire life and it is people like Target World employees that give the shooting sports a bad name. End result, I will not go back. Cons: the whole store more

Target World is only around because they have an indoor range. The staff is pretentious and as the fellow stated in an earlier post, they act like they are doing you a favor. And that is when you can get them to actually SERVE the customers. They are usually distracted with BS-ing with their buddies or messing with their own concealed weapons. I have also heard some things come out of their mouths that I couldn't believe a person knowlegdeable about firearms would say, such as ""Beretta? you know that's FRENCH for S***, right?"" (Beretta is Italian...) And, ""Colt's quality is lacking and they are really hyped up. I wouldn't own a Colt if you paid me!"" At that point I usually just smile and walk away. The only redeeming quality is the indoor range, which is not that great. There are bullet holes in the ceiling and walls, and most of the time, at least one lane is shut down because it is broken. I went there once and there were 4 lanes broken (they only have 10 or so). And the prices are about 5-10% higher than other places. There are some rare guns available to check out. So if you see something you like in a magazine or online, go there check it out... then go order it at another shop. Pros: Easy to get to, rance access, some rare guns on hand. I like to shoot. I don?t like to feel like I need a vest at the range. If you do go to this range, please, just look at the ceilings and walls. Make your own opinions. My few experiences there have been?.interesting. I was in the market for a .45 at the time and managed to get a hold of (after waiting at least 10 mins for him to stop chatting with his buddies) the only salesman behind the counter who wasn?t an angry Army washout. After getting the .45 out of the case labeled ?.40?, he proceeded to tell me how he worked at the nearby Blackwater facility (in IL??) and why he preferred the 9mm. He then presented his personal 9mm Glock which had been stored (bare) in his front pocket. If you want to take advice from this guy and pay 5% more than you would elsewhere, please, by all means.... Target World is clean, safe (for the most part) and has a wide selection of firearms that you will not normally find in most gun shops. The prices are high and are not warranted considering the quality of the customer service. Target World's staff (for the exception of a few individuals) is condescending, occasionally incompetent, and treats you like they're doing YOU a favor by showing you a firearm. The customers that usually frequent Target World are varied but all share the common trait of stupidity or ignorance. You will hear some very ignorant and occasionally dangerous things at TW. Such things will normally be heard from the customer base or staff. The customer base is attracted because they saw something new in a gun magazine or they see the sign on the highway. They usually are not intelligent firearm owners because intelligent firearms owners realize Target World's prices are absurd. The range and the dumb people are what keep most intelligent shooters away from Target World. This is all very comforting when you consider you're sharing a range with these people and they have the combined intelligence of a small child. If you doubt my claims of ignorant customers at Target World take a gander at the ceiling of the indoor range. It resembles something between swiss cheese and something that belongs in a Liberian war zone. All of these factors combine to make Target World the only range you can see and handle hard to find firearms, and shoot a gun indoors in the city of Cincinnati past sundown. These two factors are probably what keep Target World in business. Alternative businesses are Shooters Indoor Range of Kentucky (15 miles south of Cinci), Vandalia Shooters Range (near Dayton), Shooters Supply Shop near Loveland (not related to KY) and many other business which do not fulfill the ignorant firearm owner stereotype.
