I had a similar experience with the lack of respect and the lack of food on the buffet. When I asked the manager if i can have more chicken, she said: no more, sorry! more

Beware : they will not re-fill the menu item if you go for buffet at/after around 12:00pm If you go after 12:00pm ask that lady manager/owner wheater she will refill the menu item and till what time. With us it was bad experience. Even that waiter ( lean guy) does't know what is the meaning of hospitality.!!!! more

Well, we decided to have a buffet there on New Years Eve. Went there at 1:50 pm. Around 4 of the menu items were not at all refilled and very little were sticking around the corners of the buffet tray. How could we have that? !!!! Waited for refills promptly but it was not done. My husband notified them that the menu items were not refilled and we were waiting for the Koftas. But the owner / person - in charge came and told us that they wont be refilling the menu items at all. AND WE HAD TO PAY THE FULL PRICE FOR THE LUNCH BUFFET. THEY BLAMED US THAT WE DID NOT GRAB THE MENU ITEMS AT RIGHT TIME AND STORE IT IN OUR PLATES. We were quite surprised at their answers.!!! And to the more, the rude answers were even more shocking. The lady over there told us right on our face that they had established their hotel and we could take our friend to any other place we want. What more do we require on New Years Eve? We cursed our fate and I paid the bill and came back. The guy who was sitting at the billing questioned more !!! ""Is it ur first time to Tandoor? He repeated the same words as the lady told. He just grabbed the bill and almost threw it at me. What more do we need? Did we shout at them? Did we insult them in front of their customers? We asked why the menu items were not refilled. We had a very sensitive conversation about refills and pointed out that they had to refill the buffet if they have some customers inside still eating their lunch buffet...The most horrible experience I ever had in any of the Indian restaurants in SLC. I dropped the idea of taking my friends anymore to this place and dropped the plan of having birthday party of my kids there. Difficult to visit anyone who does not show any respect to their customers....Highly rude people who do not care about customers as they boast that they had enough regular customers...I sincerely pray that god should correct their attitude... more

I've been to lots of Indian restaurants in slc and this is by far the best one. Everyone I know that has eaten here agrees. Both the lunch buffet and the dinner are recommended. The staff there are really nice and do their best to make sure you are happy with your dining experience. Pros: everything more

I don't know what the last reviewer is talking about. I went here for lunch with my wife and a guest and we loved the buffet. Everything was very tasty and perfectly spiced. The desserts were very nice and the service was outstanding. They even got us a dessert that my wife was craving for free even though it wasn't on the menu. I would highly recommend this place. Bad service, bad food.. I ordered chicken Tikka for takeout, and when I get home, I found nothing but a tasteless grilled Chicken cubes MIXED with WATERY INDIAN SEASONING SPICES?! What knida chicken Tikka is that? I even poured more salt on it and still tastes like dirty water! With all due respect, I have ordered chicken Tikka in many great Indian/Pakistani restaurants across the country before, and never been that disappointed or charged more than $10 max per Tikka order, and most importantly never seen such horrible chicken Tikka in my life.. Chicken Tikka is not suppose to be mixed in WATER Sauce to began with ; it seemed like they just mixed Indian spices with halfcocked tomato and COLD WATER than they poured over the grilled chicken cubes ;( Cons: Worse experience ever more

We LOVE Indian food and saw The Tandoor Indian Grill while driving along 3300 South. We tried the butter chicken and byriani and bothe were excellent! We will be visiting again and often! Pros: Food Cons: None! more

i took the husband to the buffett on saturday for lunch. it was his 1st experience with indian food so i thought a buffett would be a good choice so he could try several dishes. he loved it all. the manchurian cauliflower was superb as was the garlic naan which had a lot of chunks of garlic on it. we will be going back often. Excellent food, excellent service, very courteous!!! We were a group of 40+ from NJ/NY and all of us thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. The food compares with the best I have ever had around the world!!! The samosas, various south indian chutneys, medu vada, idli, sambhar were all good as appetizers. The vegetarian (I am a vegetarian) entrees were excellent, with vaghare baingan the best you can ever have. The ambiance and service were just superb. Pros: Best food, Best service. Cons: None. more

Simply the best! I am a vegetarian and like very spicy food. My husband is a confirmed meat-eater who likes a little less kick, and we both love every meal we've had at Tandoor(at least 20!). The service is welcoming and friendly and there is so much to explore on the menu. Favorites are navarathan koorma for me & hyrdabhati lamb for him...make sure to remember the naan bread! Let me begin with the decor - simple, tasteful - not your typical restaurant redecorating slap-job! The music is tasteful and well-thought and things are simple and delicious. have visited some Indian restaurants in the valley before i visited Tandoor,I highly recomend this restaurant and is indeed the best of them. I have lived in England before, I had my best experiences with Indian restaurants there. I found the similar taste again here at Tandoor. I loved the food and their friendly service. I've lived in SLC for the past 34 years, but have had the opportunity to travel throughout much of the world, as well. I am endlessly amazed to see superb family restaurants pop up around the valley and then disappear months or, at most, a few short years later. Usually I'll hear about one of theses places from a rational friend or two and venture out to try my luck. I'd say that maybe half the time that I try these suggestions, I'm somewhat disappointed, but the other 50% of the time I'm pleasantly surprises. Upon these rare occassions, I find myself in a bitter sweet mood, for I know with certainty that this new find will follow the path of so many others - into the graveyard. Why does this happen here in our little valley time and again, people? Get out and give this one a chance before it's too late or you'll find yourself back at sub-par Bombay House wishing that you could, just once, have a GOOD indian food experience here in Salt Lake City.
