Taj Mapaw

This place is AWFUL! Horrible facility and even more horrible owner! What sort of animal care facility only has hours on 9:00-9:30 am and 6:00-6:30 pm having someone there with the dogs for ONE hour!? Once we arrived in town and tried to pick them up NO ONE was there and our dogs would have to be locked up with no one for another 5 hours when they could be home with us! And once I finally got through to the owner, his response was, “I’ve already been there this morning, now I’m home. I’ll see you at 6:00. Bye” And then he hung up. After reading multiple reviews, we’re now worried for the health and safety of our dogs bc NUMEROUS dogs have left this facility with injuries or have even DIED! I’ve called the police and the Better Business Bureau. My sole mission now is to make sure this place gets shut down! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE! more

The world we live in? What a shame that one person can sit behind a computer and change the IP address and email and post multiple bad reviews making it appear that their is a large audience that feels the same as he does. But its a lot like pandora's box. But their are a lot of educated people that can see through the cloud of smoke. So by all means go ahead and spend you life behind the computer trying to ruin someone else. more

It was near forth of July weekend and everything was booked. When I first took my Baby to Taj Mapaw that morning I was a little earring because the place said for sale and there were dogs inside the building that I can see. I finally seen a lady and she took me and my dog inside. We done the necessary paperwork as possible for his stay. When I was on my trip I called twice and talked to someone and they gave me a comfortable feeling that he was okay and that he was playing and. I admit he made me feel really comfortable about my dogs well being. (Some people will do anything for money.) When I got back home to pick him up he was at the location I dropped him off at which I was happy about that since I read a review that said something else. I was a little tired from the trip so I stayed in the car and let my son go inside to get him. He came out and brought yo-yo to me. The way that he acted was not normal. He was acting scared.My son being his age that he is didn't notice anything different. But I can pick up on my dog acting different. We got home looked at his face and it was like he just had tears all over or some crustiness all over his face. I try to put him in the bathtub and he wasn't having that.When my dog usually jumps in the bathtub until u give him a bath.Then I noticed that he had this dime size mark on his left side when I was drying him. I was convinced something happened at Taj Mapaw and I will never leave my dog there again. more

Please do not trust these people with your pets. We were in the process of moving and I needed some place quickly to board our 3 dogs because the movers were going to have every door in the house open for several days. I contacted Taj Mapaw and they had available space. I took my dogs there on Saturday morning before heading to work. I was provided the basic information forms by Tyler and informed him that they would be boarding over the weekend and that the female was ok to board with either male but the two males couldn't be left alone together. The following morning around 9a I receive a call from the owner Chris who said that Ramsey (my smaller male dog) wasn't feeling well and that he was all wet so he gave him a bath and cleaned him up and had him upfront with him. I asked him at that time if he had been with my other male dog and he said he thought so. I asked him if he needed to go to the vet or be picked up and he said I think he's fine I'll just keep him up here with me. 2 hours later I get a call that Ramsey doesn't seem to be doing any better and someone should probably come pick him up. We are out of town so I ask my son to go get him. About 20 minutes later I receive a call from Chris that they were taking Ramsey to the vet that he was having trouble breathing. My son goes directly to the vet where he is told that Ramsey had already passed when the person from Taj Mapaw brought him in. My son had to take our dog home and bury him. When I get to the place to pick up my other 2 dogs the owner has no empathy or remorse whatsoever. He actually had the nerve to say "well I won't charge you for Ramsey". He was a complete jerk. Then he told me it was my fault because I should have written it on the basic information form. EVEN THOUGH I CLEARLY TOLD HIS EMPLOYEE. I would never, ever trust anything living with those people. Negligent and careless is an understatement. more

PLEASE ALL! Pay attention to the poor reviews. There is such a limited choice for boarding in Roanoke so I ignored them and used this facility. Apparently they are closing down the Franklin Rd facility and consolidating to the new Townside facility. That is where I went initially to get information about boarding. Tyler showed me the camera views of the different areas of the facility; he told me that if we bring our pet after 5 and pick up before 5 they would not charge another day. They not only charged an extra day but another $15 because I was 10 mins after 11. When I spoke to Chris the day I brought my pet in, I found out the smaller dogs are taken from the new facility and brought to the other one. I tried to explain to Chris how unsettling this was and he just didn't get it! He was not at facility when I went to pick up my pet so Allison had to bare my wrath of all the hidden charges. And as far as Allison, the groomer, my pet had a bath and nail trim and it was obvious that she clipped nails too close because there was blood on several of his nails. Could go on but won't. Simple pay attention to what these reviews are saying. more
