One of the best Sushi restaurants on South Beach 6/27/2007

This is a great Sushi restaurant. It seems to always have fresh and unique types of Sashimi dishes; the service is very energetic and helpful, and good; living in South Beach getting good service at a restaurant is not common. Of course sitting outside you get to people watch and enjoy the great scenery that Lincoln Road has to offer. I highly recommend this Sushi restaurant; it's one of the best in South Beach. I read some older reviews that slammed the restaurant on how long it takes to get the food, this is a very busy restaurants on certain night and if you are in a hurry to eat, I personally wouldn't eat anywhere on Lincoln Road, or just go get a slice of Pizza somewhere. The many times that we went service was very quick when it wasn't a Thursday-Sunday night, and one the busy nights we didn't think it was too bad either. more

Good Food, Great Location 5/13/2007

The food and drinks are all spectacular! I don't know if they are still doing karaoke on tuesdays, but it was surprisingly full on what's supposed to be the slowest day of the week for the restaurant business. I have tried several menu items as well as drinks and am yet to be dissappointed. Has a bit of a celebrity feel to it. Pros: Good sushi, Nice decor, Good drinks Cons: Feels a bit crowded at times more

One Word. Yummy 12/14/2005

When I went there I thought it would be the same thing over again. But oh boy I was wrong. I had the Lomo Saltado and almost licked the plate when I was done. Yes, it was that good. Amazing how the mix different flavors. I could feel the Asian and Latin fusion on every bite. I also tried some eel sushi, the tenderloin ceviche and both were fantastic. To finish my dinner, I sipped a Nina Fresa. Perfect martini. Pros: Exquisite Food, Trendy, Fair Priced Cons: Parking more

Great Food! Great Service! Great Time! 9/7/2005

After not being to eat at Sushi Samba since its most anticipated opening in 2001, I gave another try last week and what a change! The food was IMPRESSIVE! We had the Kobe Tataki, it was delicious. I also loved the baked lobster and the desserts , specially the passionfruit sabayon. WE HAD A GREAT TIME! defenetly our favorite spot in Miami Beach. Pros: complete menu, no food wait, no seating wait Cons: Loud, Loud, Loud more

Skip dinner go for drinks and apps 7/5/2005

If you're looking for a quiet meal with attentive service don't even think about Sushi Samba. If you're looking for a place to kick back with some unusual drinks and light appetizers while you people-watch, this is a great place to do it. more

Great Food, Horrible Service 12/19/2004

I was there last night with a group of 10: great salmon tartare and duck entree, but service was the worst I have had during the last year. The waiter forgot some of the appetizers and brought whatever he remembered to the wrong people. We asked for heaters (it was cold outside) and had to wait 30 minutes to have one. It was a three hour dinner..and we only ordered 3 courses. more

overrated 9/1/2004

this is a somewhat overpriced joint for those who wanna be. The food is pretty good, though the portions are quite small. Good service. Noisy as hell. Pros: good food, service Cons: , overpriced more

Unbelievable experience 7/1/2004

Recently I returned to Sushi Samba, very excited since my first experience there a couple of years ago was amazying. Well, this second time - I will NEVER go back. The waiter was rude, left me in mid sentence to help another table that had a problem. The manager took the order after I called him over, then the my sushi came as an appetizer (after we already had appetizers) and my other friends meals came 1 hr 10 minutes after we got to the restaurant. We left the food and didn't eat. It was really horrible and the manager did nothing to make it easier until I told him I was going to write this review. The food, experience of bad service is not worth it. No wonder the restaurant was empty. Pros: well decorated, trendy Cons: , rude more

sushi smells ugly 10/25/2003

since when does sushi have to be eaten on ivory plates and served by supermodels? When did Japanese cuisine deviate from it's heritage and spun out from latin america? (other than brazil's Rio) Although someone rebel has to deviate from the norm, I think it's way off and offensive to my culture. I only went because everyone I was with wanted to be seen there. I was seen I guess more

A Nice Place to Look At 7/21/2002

The first thing we did when we arrived we ordered some of there amazing house specialty cocktails then a bottle of wine, after the 3rd attempt, they were out of our first 2 selections, we got our wine. We noticed there Sushi prices to be high, $10.50 for a California Roll. The waiter said that was because they used all fresh ingredients, with Sushi i hope so. After waiting 30minutes for the appetizer and another 45 for the entree, the Sea Bass which is $25, was rubbery. The waiter explained it is frozen, because this time of year you can't get fresh. That contradicted the ""fresh ingredients"". I feel there is nothing, other than the decor, special about this place. Just another Over Priced restaurant. Go across the street to Sushi Siam for Good, Reasonably priced Sushi. Pros: Great Decor, Incredible Drinks, Friendly Host Cons: Way Overpriced, Frozen Fish, Messy Restrooms more

Latin+Sushi=Delicious 7/16/2002

Sometimes, as with French and Thai, fusion just works and Sushi Samba is no exception. The flash-fried Japanese river crabs were amazing; the fried red snapper with the coconut rice - terrific. And the tenderloin with morels and plantains in the balsamic reduction unbelieveable seriously one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. When I asked our waiter for a sample of the Chorizo, I was offered a small sample, free of charge (and it was terrific, btw). I think the one in NYC has marginally better food, but the service is not nearly as friendly. The added benefit of Miamis edition is you can casually stroll out onto Lincoln Road in Manhattan, you get to walk into 7th Avenue with its traffic and NJ tunnel overspill. I think the lesser reviews here are more exception than rule definitely go if you havent been. Pros: Fusion, well-done, Fresh sushi, Slick presentation Cons: Bring the platinum, Underwhelming dessert more

A Joke! 7/11/2002

Great concept, but won't make it. The experience I had at this place is just ridiculous. I waited 55 minutes for my food, 25 for my desert. They were out of dinner ware, I had to wait for my fork. Who knows what they served my wine in, definitely not a wine glass. I go so frustrated I went up to the bar, seemed to be hopping. The red headed bartender was incredible! Wonderful personality and service! Oh, don't dare step into the bathrooms there horrible! Pros: Location, Bartender, Saturday no waiting Cons: Disgusting restrooms, Some meals overpriced, No dinnerware more

Maybe Works in New York 7/6/2002

I never had an experience like this in my life. I don't know where to start. First I was served my martini in a wine glass then my bottle of wine in Brandy Snifters, the waiter said they only had about 40 wine glasses to the whole restaurant (the restaurant seats over 150 people easy). Then the waiter said the concept of the restaurant was all about sharing and let him guide us threw the menu. But everytime a course showed up the waiter had to run and get us; share plates, silverware, chopsticks, etc. I guess there idea of share means everyone grab what you can with your fingers from the food placed in the middle of the table. We were afraid to order dessert, I never ate ice cream with my fingers. Good luck. A little advice, if your gonna open a restaurant, at least have forks. Pros: Good Location, No wait on Saturday, Nice Decor Cons: No wine Glasses, Overpriced Sushi, Worst Restrooms more

Excellent Place! 6/9/2002

As a visitor to Miami, I used Citysearch to find a good sushi restaurant. When I saw the review for Sushi Samba, I decided to try it out. This was some of the most amazing sushi I've had. I went there for lunch and loved the variety of lunch choices. Terrific restaurant. more
