The food was unexpectedly good. Well made. Plus the Fried Tea Ice cream was mind-blowing. more

Amazing, awesome...as always! more

I think it was partially our fault for ordering delivery, but there was something about the food that simply didn't satisfy me like sushi normally does. Though perhaps it should be expected from an 'all you can eat' sushi restaurant. more

Overall GREAT 11/4/2011

Food was amazing although I think they should work on their customer service a little bit better but, overall it was a great experience. more

Sleazy Businessmen, No Longer the Best 1/24/2010

-Inexperienced chefs squeeze gobs and gobs of rice together, resulting in disgustingly warm sushi with a low fish to rice ratio. -Take a sushi expert with you, for they often pass off less expensive, but similarly colored fish as expensive, dinner-only halibuts. This incidence is evidence of their sleazy business tactics and as a customer, I no longer trust them. -Friendly greeting, but sub-par service more

changed. 1/24/2010

I agree with F2252... Although the AYCE is a good deal, the service was horrible. The restaurant was pretty empty, but it took almost 40 minutes for our order to come out. And what's worse, they didn't give us what we ordered.. -_- When we asked about it, they said they had run out and instead gave us something else.... which is not at all what we wanted to eat. I understand restaurants could sometimes run out of certain materials, but i thought it was extremely rude of them to think they could just order something else in our stead.... very poor judgement. I also think they need to work on their rice. There was not enough rice vinegar or something... it did not bring out the flavor of the fish as well as I would have liked. They also tend to give you a huge lump of rice and small sliver of fish when you order AYCE. I suppose they're trying to fill you up with rice or something. Pros: clean Cons: bad service more

Did we just get the worst server or has this restaurant changed? 1/23/2009

Anxious to show off a neighborhood restaurant to friends/associates for a casual, business dinner, I suggested Katsuya (the reviews were outstanding - couldn't wait). They were busy but not completely full. We had to ask for menus and we shared 2 for the four of us. We were in no hurry but didn't know who our server was (and we had made reservations). After one hour (I looked at my watch), someone from our table stood up to ask if there was someone to take our order. Our server came, took our order but I could see our friends were very unimpressed with the restaurant and were reluctant to order anything but a cooked dinner. Had I not read reviews, I would have been skeptical to order raw fish as well...pretty poor first impression. We had no napkins or eating utensils. They did bring some paper napkins and chopsticks when asked but other tables had cloth napkins. Did they just run out? Food was good but my salad was delivered 10 minutes after the rest of our party received their food and the server never did bring my miso. There was never an apology or explanation. The experience was so disappointing and for me embarrasing. When we first arrived, our friends talked with anticipation about other wonderful experiences at sushi restaurants...too bad this wasn't one of them. Pros: Food Cons: Service more

Probably the best Japanese restaurant in town 12/2/2008

I went there for lunch. It's worth every penny! The test is excellent, foods are fresh, and the place is in good hygiene. In addition, I don't have to wait for too long to get foods. The waitress and staffs are polite. And, the price is reasonable. \r All in all, this reataurant will change your mind-set that a good japanese reataurant doesn't have to be freaking expensive! more

Best Sushi in Town and not ridiculously expensive like some of the downtown places. 11/4/2008

I've been looking for a good Sushi joint and this is it. Great cuts, great service, this place is really good and I have yet to get a ""fishy"" piece of sushi. If I had to complain about anything, it would be that I have to drive pretty far to get there but....it's totally worth it, every time. Pros: Really good sushi Cons: I wish it was closer to my house..... more

Best Sushi I've had- EVER! 9/28/2008

I've had sushi around the world and this place makes the best. So many choices. Excellent friendly service. Pros: Great Food Cons: Not so great location/parking. more

Best Sushi in Denver by far 7/2/2008

I have eaten at sushi joints all over the world. I have been eating at this place since the day it opened. The first time that I stepped foot inside, the manager greeted me and was very nice and outgoing. We got to talking and he ended up serving me my meal. I sat at the sushi bar, and was immediately indulged in excellent service. EVERYTHING in this place is good, from the miso soup to the Toro. The seafood is fresh and prepared as if it were an art-form. The presentation far exceeds anywhere around here. I eat there twice a week now! A must try! Pros: Everything Cons: Not open 24 hours a day! more

Incredibly Fresh! 6/26/2008

Katsuya has such a wonderful ambiance and welcoming atmosphere- You're greeted by the whole staff as soon as you walk through the door! If seats at the bar are available, definitely have a seat if you want to see some real talent. The quality and freshness is next to none and I highly recommend trying this place out! Get there before 6:00 to enjoy the 2 for 1 authentic sake bombers!!! more

Good and plenty plus Friendly and no wait! 4/2/2008

Work mates have raved about Sushi Katsuya, so last week I had lunch there.\r I got seated and pleasantly greeted immediately.\r With such vast sushi choices, it will take me a while to try it all. I am adventurous when I know the chef is this good, but not everything is going to be your favorite!\r The Havana roll was generous in portion, but soggy in result. The tempura quick fry lost it's crunch under the chopped scallop mix.\r \r Young is always finding new presentations, just look at the number of unique selections.\r I wish happy hours extended earlier though. Pros: New to Denver sushi rolls and wonderful presentation. Can't miss the huge sign on Havana! Cons: strip mall parking more

Unbelieveable variety, quality, creativity and service! 3/16/2008

After moving to Denver from Florida more than a year ago I have been on a mission to find sushi like what I was used to on the coast. My search is over. \r \r The staff is friendly and the sushi chefs have talent and creativity. The sushi menu is the largest in variety as well as the types of fish offered that I've found in this area. I found both my favorite roll and tuna tataki that I have been searching for and couldn't find at any of the top sushi restaurants in town. \r \r The food was phenomenal, atmosphere pleasant, staff very welcoming, and the preparation and creative presentation is top of the line. (You know you are at a good ethnic restaurant when half of the dinners are of that ethnicity.) \r \r We sat at the sushi bar and watched the chef create fruit sculptures for diners. He made a panda from an orange and a peacock from and apple for a table with kids. He also shaped our wasabi like a jalape?o pepper and topped it with a real pepper stem. \r \r We will return very soon as this restaurant has definitely earned our admiration. Katsuya only opened 5 months ago so don't over look this new addition! Pros: Variety, quality, creativity, presentation, service, and size of rolls Cons: I couldn't eat everything I wanted to try! more

Great food and wonderful service! 3/6/2008

Okay, after moving to Aurora, CO from San Diego, CA I didn't think it was possible to find a sushi place in a land locked state that would be as good as the fresh fish on the west coast but I was way wrong. The sushi at Katsuya is amazing. It's full of flavor, not fishy like some other places in Aurora, and the service is amazing. The head sushi chef and owner is a delight to talk to and the waiters are very nice and attentive to your needs. The best is they have happy hour during the week where you can get about 15% off sushi and buy one get one free drinks til 6 pm. Who can pass on cheap sushi! Pros: Ambience, Service, Food!! more

Wow!! If you like sushi - this is the place to go!!! 2/9/2008

We tried this delightful restaurant while we were in Denver and will come back every time we visit. This place offers everything you look for in a restaurant - an exceptional wait staff that is friendly and attentive and an expert sushi chef - Young. Young not only puts out the freshest sushi we've ever had from a non-portside restaurant, but he presents it with flair and style. They have a good, although some what limited, sake selection, too. We found the prices very reasonable. If you like sushi like we do (we eat it a couple of times a week) you will love this place. Pros: Fresh fish, great staff, reasonably priced Cons: strip mall location is hard on ambience but they've done a nice job with decor more

Sushi Den has some competition!!!!! 1/31/2008

My fiance and I are pretty picky about food...especially sushi, and we honestly thought that Katsuya's sushi was the best we'd ever had! \r \r The staff was friendly, we didn't have to wait two hours for a table, the environment was welcoming instead of pretentious, and the restaurant was clean! \r \r I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Sushi Den...Katsuya is far better!!! Pros: Great food and great service! Cons: Some may not like that it's not located in Denver...it's worth the drive though! more

This is a great Sushi experience!!!! 1/17/2008

This plance is fantastic because the sushi is great and the service is out of this world They are friendly and they create beautiful artisitic sushi that has great flavor. It is a pleasure to dine at Sushi Katsuya. Pros: The decore parking and staff are fantastic!! The food is really good. more

Fantastic sushi and then some.... 12/30/2007

I've been to a number of sushi restaurants in the Denver area, and this has got to be one of the best! Lunch specials are awesome and offered at a very reasonable price. If sushi isn't your thing, they have excellent traditional ramen noodle soups (mmm.... comfort food) =) Service is prompt, and the warm personability of the manager makes you feel like you're an old friend. No matter where you are in the Denver area, this place is worth the trip. more
