Suburban Propane

This company has to be the worst company I have ever dealt with. They can not get their billing correct if the survival of the world depended on it. Shame on us for not switching providers many years ago. I cringe when it's time to order propane each year. For the past 10 years we have owned our home, they have messed up our account. It's truly unbelievable. Shocking really. If you have the chance to use anyone else, please save yourself the stress and use anyone other than this joke of a company. I can not say it enough, Suburban Propane is HORRIBLE. I can get better service from my pet rock. more

These are unapologetically the MOST expensive people in town and they don't care. When I confronted them with competitor prices, I just got excuses back. They claimed gas prices were high. I reminded them that their competitors all live in the same economic environment-- yet they are FAR more expensive than anyone else. Their pricing isn't even close. They suggested that the ""cheaper"" pricing I was getting was for new customers. No. I ferreted that out and used competitor market pricing for non first time clients as a comparison-- I would get an additional discount as a first time customer from those prices. They were nearly $1000.00 More for 1000 gallon tank than other competitors. That's 1.00/ gallon more than anyone else. I offered to stay with them if they gave me a price that was more competitive. They refused and were not concerned about my business. I talked to other homeowners in our subdivision and they also avoided Suburban. Most didn't even bother calling them while shopping or when building their homes. We are the only ones who had used them-- unfortunately for us. We are switching to anyone but them. Do your homework and shop before calling them. Go somewhere else...anywhere else... more

Following a conversation with them today, I was even MORE compelled to write. I have never had anything but WONDERFUL customer service with Suburban. I think the lady in the office was named Peggy. She's always friendly, helpful, and compassionate. My husband has been out of work for some time and they have always been empathetic and willing to allow me to make payments. They've been our propane supplier for last 10 years and wouldn't change it! They even came to the rescue once a few years ago when we (our mistake, not theirs) allowed our tank to run out. Perhaps the customers below would ""get further with honey than vinegar"". I would recommend this company to others! more

So far so good. I called and had a tank set up and the delivery driver was absolutely the nicest and most polite person I've had to deal with so far in this moving process. He not only set the new tank but moved the old one out of the way so the other company could get to it easier. (and Airgas has still not came and picked it up, some 3 months later) Their prices are high compared to others but the customer service I have experienced so far has been good. I hope I dont experience the negative things that others have but I will keep my eyes and ears open. more

This is probably one of the most poorly run companies in the Cincinnati area!! Often times your scheduled delivery is skipped over, they charge you the wrong rates (always higher than what was quoted) and their customer service is terrible. Like Cincinnati said, they all have attitudes and are incompetent!! Cons: Horrible!!! more

When the price of propane started to decline, Suburban increased their charges 20-25% higher than what was available in the city. As usual, when you ask what is going on they very much have an attitude that you should just shut -up and pay. I think they prey on folks who don't pay attention...just pay the monthly bill. I agree with the other review that their office staff is terrible. We have had problems with bills, etc. If you have a choice, buy your propane from another company. more

This company has absolutely horrible service. They are unresponsive, and when they do respond, it is typically done incorrectly. They have double-billed us, refused to issue credits..........the drivers are generally courteous but the office staff and accounting people are 100% incompetent. Having them install a new tank at our home was almost comically bad........took us more than a dozen calls and ended up delaying our project by three extra weeks. If you can use anybody else.......even if it means using a different fuel type..........do so. You will be glad you avoided this badly orgainzed and poorly run company. Pros: None come to mind Cons: Customer service, billing errors.......not there when you need them more
