I just don't get a number of reviews posted for Strawberry Bakery. So many 5 stars, and a number of one star reviews. Honestly, the cakes, pastries and cookies here are fantastic!...

Horrible bakery, don't be fooled. 6/5/2011

Horrible bakery, don't be fooled. The French chef who owns this bakery only cares about making money; he could care less about the quality of his products, his customer's satisfaction, or the cleanliness of his kitchen. I live down the road from this bakery and came here to get my morning coffee on a regular basis for a few months, before I realized it's all a front. While I was sitting drinking my coffee and reading the paper, I would overhear the chef talking with his staff in the kitchen saying the most shocking things. He talks about his customers behind their back, he makes obscene comments about the women who come in, and he curses people who call in to place orders or who call to say they were not satisfied with an order, after being sugary sweet to them on the phone. He doesn't care if you are satisfied with your order after you've paid him, as long as he's got his money.\r \r The worst, however, is that his croissants and cakes are not fresh, they are frozen and then thawed. Don't listen to 1 star tastebuds 1/12/2011

I just don't get a number of reviews posted for Strawberry Bakery. So many 5 stars, and a number of one star reviews. Honestly, the cakes, pastries and cookies here are fantastic! \r \r The only explanation I can come up with is that some 1 star folks out there like heavy, super-sugary, gooey treats. So then why shop at a French-style bakery. I've had the strawberry cake that another rated one star-it was incredibly good; loaded with fresh strawberries, light-flavorful cake, delicious cream! I guess some folks like processed sugary jam as a filling with sugar-laced icing. \r \r But for those folks who like a refined dessert, Strawberry Bakery is an excellent choice. more

Use Bakers of Buffington or Wegman's 9/18/2010

Very disappointed. Bought a strawberry shortcake birthday cake (recommended by employee), doughnuts and croissants and didn't like anything. Cake icing was okay at best, cake was tasteless. My kids didn't even like the doughnuts - enough said. Chocolate croissant had most of the chocolate bunched up in the end. \r \r Bottom line: For the best cakes around, you can't go wrong with Bakers of Buffington on 30 in Downingtown. more

Never Again 7/28/2010

Absolutely horrible!! Ordered a cake for a house full of people and not one person could finish their piece! Called this bakery and was first told that they had no record of our purchase. Was then told by the chef/owner that we "did not appreciate fine French baking" and that we would not receive any compensation. Cake was dry and the icing tasted like caulk. Stear clear of this bakery unless you have lost your sense of taste!!! more

Strawberry Bakery is awesome for special cakes 9/29/2009

I had a delightful experience ordering a special birthday cake for my brother's 60th birthday party. Jean Pierre was right on my wavelength and showed me exactly how he was going to make three different cakes to match up with my brother's life interests: a guitar, running shoes and a microphone. He put them on a large sheet cake base and delivered them to the Country Club for me. He did chocolate cake with chocolate ganache, then iced them with butter cream icing and covered it with smooth fondant icing and took great pains to make the cakes look like the pictures I gave him. Everyone raved about the presentation and the cake! more

The cakes are really nasty 8/26/2009

We ordered a pound cake for my son's birthday and even though I read the reviews and did not believe them. Well let me tell everybody they were so accurate, I will never believe that a cake can be inedible but it was. No one ate the cake and all my kids said it was awful. more

Nastiest, driest cakes on earth! 6/29/2009

I special ordered the pound cake (the only layer cake they offer) for my husband's birthday, so it was supposed to be "fresh" and "custom ordered" -- what an incredible disappointment! The cake was dry, crumbly and completely tasteless. The frosting was supposed to be chocolate buttercream but had no discernable flavor whatsoever. The only positive aspect to the whole experience was that it made for a memorable birthday for my husband, who has a wonderful sense of humor and was able to laugh about the whole mess. more

birthday cake 4/11/2009

The birthday cake that I bought at this bakery was disgusting. No one including my grand-kids would eat it. It was dry, bland, totally inedible. Save your money. more

Simply Delicious! 3/19/2009

Wow, what is a bakery like this doing in Frazier, PA! How lucky we are. I had the baker make a birthday cake for my son's 6th and it was so amazing with such originality!\r \r It was the hit of the party. Sad we had to eat it! more

Yummy! 3/26/2008

The pastries from Strawberry Bakery are delicious and so fresh and beautifully prepared. However, I stopped by to pick up a birthday cake and was shocked to see that they all cost a small fortune. I would have spent over $40 on two small size (6" or so) cakes and that just seemed to be unreasonable. I passed on them. They were gorgeous though and looked delicious. more

mummm! best french "pâtisserie" for me! 1/20/2008

I tried this morning. My husband came this morning to learn how to make a "king cake" and several pastry stuff. I had one of the best "croissant" I ever tried in my life (and I'm French!). So let's try it, the owner is really nice and very welcoming.\r Price are reasonnable\r \r PROS: everything above\r CONS: why is it in Frazer and not closer to my place?!?! more

Yummy! 1/3/2008

Bakeries are few & far between in Chester County, so thank good ness for Strawberry! Delicious pastries and the cakes are great - but a teensy bit pricey. Since my only other alternative is the grocery store bakery, I'll spend more. The White Cake I bought was moist and fresh and everyone wanted to know where I got it. I've also gotten the marble pound cake and strawberry shortcake and both were fresh & delicious. The croissants are buttery and you can tell how unhealthy they are for you - but loved every bite. The cookies are buttery and rich as well. Great taste and nice staff!!! Pros: The baked goods are WONDERFUL! Cons: Wish they were a tiny bit less expensive. But you get what you pay for I guess! more

What a disappointing experience... 11/19/2007

I ordered a cake for a special 70th birthday party. It was to be delivered at 11 a.m. The bakery chef had not even left the bakery at 11:30! He arrived with a "leaning tower of Pisa" with holes between layers and finger prints smashed in the icing. He tried to carry a four tiered cake large enough to feed 100 all by himself. It was a DISASTER. So very disappointing. The cake cost a small fortune but was worse than a sheet cake from Sam's Club. more

excellent 5/23/2006
