Best

I LOVE the house salad. Something is in that dressing! Add chicken for $2 and ask for a roll or two, and you will be moaning! The tiramisu is not all it's cracked up to be... I...

Worst

Stoneground is a respectable restaurant, but too greasy to live up to its reputation. Salt Lake suffers from having no good local pizza establishments, and Stoneground is no excep...

Awesome!!! 2/26/2006

This is an awesome Sunday night joint! Best if you get there before the 7:00 rush. If you do get there during the rush we found that the wait is unappetizing. We got there at 6:00 had a great host and she came with great wine recommends. The owner(? ) manager was fantastic. He knew that we were waiting for a pizza with eggplant and met us as we were leaving with a complimentary piece. This place is definitely on our A-list!!! Pros: Pizza, Salad, Service more

One of My Favorite Lunch Spots 10/20/2005

I must say that I go to Stoneground atleast once a week. I love the food, the service is great and I can get in and out within my lunch hour. I have taken several family members and friends to Stoneground and they have all raved about it. The Tiramisu is to die for and the pizza is an office favorite. Keep up the good work! Pros: Great Food, Friendly Staff, Excellent Service more

User review by wingking 10/7/2005

The best food, people, and comfort, around. The staff is very helpful the menu is great i have not once left there unhappy! more

good pizza 10/5/2005

pizza crust thin and tasty, sauce has a unique flavor b. The chicken wing pizza was awesome. The wine and soda was great. The atmosphere was ""cool"" but the restaraunt was a bit warm being upstairs. The owner is great and frequently visits table to talk with you! Pros: great crust, atmosphere neet Cons: complicated parking more

HERE HERE TO THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL 9/11/2005

Stoneground used to be such a comfortable and friendly place to go. The new (?) menu is unimpressive and barely legible, the service is cold and condescending. The management is (proudly)under the owner's wife (i'm sure it must be a new owner) she's surely never worked in a restaurant before, this lady belongs in the courts bldg down the street with all the warmth she evokes. our last experience was certainly an embarrassment to us as we tried to show off our city to guests. The wife was the waitress too this time and was rude and stupidly dressed in a tattered old tanktop. We even overheard her nagging employees for all to hear! No wonder there's been turnover. We are desperately calling out to old employees and that cute guy who used to run the place - COME BACK! I've got business lunches and family dinners to hold! more

Going Down Hill 9/3/2005

Oh how I USED to love Stoneground!!! I don't know if they got a new owner or a new chef but the things have changed and not for the better. The sauce on the eggplant parm sandwhich which somehow tastes slightly off. They used to have killer pasta salad and now it tastes like someone is trying to make it taste like the old but just can't get it right. THE SADDEST THING ABOUT THIS PLACE: THE AWARD WINNING TIRAMISU IS NO LONGER. Stoneground used to have the most excellent tiramisu that I have ever tasted. Now, there is a different taste, consistancy and dried out ladyfingers layering the bottom. If there wasn't a change in management or ownership - WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING??? Bring the old stuff back. If mngt is new, then I'm sorry - you're trying but you just ain't cuttin it. more

Great Cast of People 6/16/2005

Used to live in Utah. Went back. Went to SG. Forgot how great the Chicken Parm is. The pizza crust is outta this world! Grandma's Pasta was made so perfect I didnt want my plate to end! They have the best salads! They provide one of those eating experiences that stays with you for years. Very affordable prices and the food is the best in SLC. The service is definatley better when the place isnt packed. Sometimes having 2 servers is not so great when the resturant is full. But they werey on top of it. Drank a lot of beer before I got my food, took a long time. I think they might need to fix the A/C. Worth the wait. Best food in Salt Lake! (not a child friendly environment...that's a good thing!) Pros: Nice Server, Beer Selection, Pizza Cons: HOT, Busy, Snooty Patrons more

Cheapy Tuesday 6/9/2005

The good thing about this place is that they've got pizza slices for $1.50 on Tuesday for cheese and then you add toppings for $0.25 more. I'm not so sure how ""authentic"" this place is b/c the Margarita pizza didn't have any mozzerella balls on it (maybe they forgot??). The atmosphere is urban trendy, so it's a nice change for a pizza joint. Pros: Cheapy Tuesday, Atmosphere, Close to TRAX Cons: Not authentic, So-so service more

Good, but far from great 5/26/2005

We are new to Salt Lake and have been trying various restaurants. Stoneground has good, but far from great pizza and other food. I would give them no more than 7 out of 10...still the pizza is FAR better than ""The pie"", which continually comes out #1 in many surveys. more

Good Italian Style Pizza 3/31/2004

I haven't had nearly enough traditional Italian style pizza to know if Stoneground's pizzas are authentic, but I really like the very thin, toppings to the edge, Italian style pizzas they serve. The Jalapeno poppers were very good. Service was good - we went on a Thursday night. Pool tables are attractive. The textured cement tables make me nervous about spilling my drink. Keep close tabs on the garlic powder shaker, someone always mistakes it for the parmesan. Pros: Good food more

So good!!!! 12/11/2003

It seems like ""The Pie"" is always rated at the top, is it because the pie serving is sooo overloaded with cheese? Come on now, quality is often better that quantity! Pros: Good food, Fun crowd, Great beer Cons: None, None, Parking? more

4? i think 10 10/20/2003

am from new york visiting salt lake city and i found this place through citysearch. i was hesitant after reading some of the bad reviews, but since there were more good reviews than bad, i decided to go and was very happy with the decision. i also saw an ad in a local paper about stoneground, advertising for all you can eat pizza and salad. i went with a party of 3 and we ordered some appetizers and a large pizza, that was more than plenty to share. the food was great. i would recommend this place to friends for hanging out- good food, good beer, pool. if i were staying in slc longer i'd probably go back, but there are other citysearch finds that i'd like to checkout before i head back to new york. but it was definitely worth coming here. Pros: customer parking, good food, good service more

TirimiS-O delicious! 6/6/2003

This is our favorite restaurant. My husband and I eat here every chance we get. You can't have a real Stoneground experience until you try the only dessert on the menu- the tirimisu- it is excellent! We love their pizza, and their house pasta. We have always had exceptional service and we've been there at least 15 times! In fact, we'll be there tonight! Pros: Inexpensive, Great Atmosphere, Delicious Food more

We're from the Bay Area 4/15/2003

It was SIN night (Sunday) - all the pizza and salad you could eat for $9.95. We decided to stay. I really wanted to try their bruschetta, but we had it in a pizza form - delicious. The crust was light which enpowered the ingredients on the pizza to taste their best. All kinds of different pizza's came out - you could have as many slices you wanted - if you have a favorite they would make it for you. The salad would have been better if it was made with a heartier lettuce (romaine) - the dressing was a balsamic - it was good. Lastly, I had a Petite Syrah (not on the menu)recommended by a very knowledgeable gal that works there - thanks! Kids loved the pool table, ok so did I. I just wished I could have tasted the rest of the menu - next visit. more

A wonderful experience 4/3/2003

I was about to give up on CitySearch's ""Best of..."" until I found StoneGround. Conveniently located across the street from the new library, StoneGround offers one of the best Pizzas we've had in SLC. But better than the pizza was the Tiramisu a luscious combination of flavors that was to die for. And yet better than the Tiramisu was the service. A lot of restaurants get got ratings for food but let their service go. Not StoneGround. Good service, Good food, good experience. Thanks StoneCround. Pros: food, service, good southern view Cons: parking more

Not Quite New York but... 2/22/2003

Good Pizza. We had the traditional white pie which needed a lot more ricotta and olive oil to be truly authentic. Friendly staff, quick service and a fun dining room made for a good time. Parking is a problem but it's right across from the library light rail stop so do the urban thing, save the planet, and avoid a DUI. Was pleasantly surprised to find they had a full bar. Pros: pizza, service, full bar Cons: parking, somewhat expensive more

Owner's a complete jerk and... 2/19/2003

The service is abominable. The owner/manager has his head up his butt. The food was great, but it wasn't worth waiting over an hour and a half. Our drinks weren't even refilled! When we complained about the terrible service the owner came over and proceeded to tell us about his pricing woes and trouble getting good help... but refused to do jack about it. The five of us vowed not to return - and haven't. Pros: food Cons: service, owner, prices more

Simply Excellent 1/24/2003

Stoneground has an affordable menu, great service, and the food is excellent. The atmosphere is relaxed/casual with pool tables and dart board. The perfect place for a first date, or a special occasion. I eat there about once a month and have been going there since it was opened, and I have never been disappointed with the food or service. Highly recommended. more

Terrible Service, Great Food! 1/15/2003

A group of friends went there to celebrate my Birthday, this was not our first time there. We love the food. The service was AWFUL. Took forever to get our food. Took another 40 minutes to get a refill on the water!!!! On top of that we didn't get our check for about 30 minutes, finally went up and asked. Then the waiter overcharged us. We finally spoke with the owner. He said "" Its hard to run a small business in Utah"" Well maybe if you got some better servers it would be a little easier. The food was amazing as always, just a tip, get take out! more

Pizza is Overrated 1/13/2003

Stoneground is a respectable restaurant, but too greasy to live up to its reputation. Salt Lake suffers from having no good local pizza establishments, and Stoneground is no exception. Even when compared against the weak competition, however, Stoneground still comes up average to poor. more
