Worst

I went in to Steven L. Marvin for a massage and pedicure. My massage was horrible. The person who did my massage stated that they were not licensed. Isn't this illegal in Michigan...

Fantastic Salon! 7/8/2011

Very talented stylists. Saul does my highlights- he does an amazing job. I'm terrible at scheduling very far in advance - and the receptionists always work very hard at getting me an appointment. I'm addicted to many of the Aveda products - I will never use anything else. more

filthy and no licensed massage therapists 4/11/2011

I went in to Steven L. Marvin for a massage and pedicure. My massage was horrible. The person who did my massage stated that they were not licensed. Isn't this illegal in Michigan now? Before they worked on my back I was told my time was up. At this point I should have known what was to come. The pedicure was awful. The girls performing the pedicures just gossiped about their lives the whole time so it allowed me to observe. I saw zero tools in barbacide or in a sterilizer. When each girl was done with her tools I saw them rinse them in water, scrub them with the same brush, and then put them into an empty container. When another person came in for a pedicure they used the same tools.They put your feet in a bowl for the foot bath and just dump it, rinse it, and used it for the next person. Therefore, theyre not being sterilized. GROSS!!!!! I'm shocked that the owner allows people who are not licensed to perform massages. Also, disgusted with the filth. I will never go back in fear of catching a serious disease or someone damaging my body because they have no training in masssage. My advice would be to to make sure the person is licensed and check the conditions of the salon before you make an appointment. I should have just left and gotten my money back. BIG MISTAKE!!!!! more

Best Salon ever! 4/5/2010

I first went to Steven L Marvin in March. From the moment I walked in I felt very welcome. The young lady at the desk took my and got me coffee. She walked me to there waiting area where I did not have to wait at all. The stylist was very prompt to come and get me when we got to her chair we talked a lot about what I wanted and how I did my hair at home. Before she washed my hair she did a scalp massage that was absolutely wonderful! She did such a great cut and really showed me how to get the same look at home. While I was in there it started to rain and the guy at the front desk was kind enough to walk me to my car. Pros: Great people more

BEST SALON IN THE AREA 11/14/2007

I went to the Steven L. Marvin Salon and Wellness Spa for my wedding party and I think it was the greatest experience. The wedding coordinators and receptionists handled all my appointments for my whole wedding party immediately when I called. They were very professional, and made sure I was completely satisfied with everything. When I went in the morning of my wedding the whole staff was so nice, they even had a sign made welcoming my wedding party. My hair and makeup looked wonderful, I couldn't imagine looking any better on my wedding day.I will return to this salon for years to come and would recommend it to anyone who wants to be treated with respect, and have stylists that actually listen to what you want. Awesome Experience! 11/14/2007

I have gone to Steven L. Marvin Salon for years and many different services. My stylist is absolutely fantastic! She always listens to my ideas and comes up with her own input as well. Everywhere I go I get many compliments on my hair. I also have my waxing done there and the technician is friendly, makes you feel comfortable no matter what service you are having, and makes the process as pain free as possible. Their spa pedicures are awesome too! The experience was relaxing and enjoyable and at the end your feet are smooth and soft! I have always been a salon junkie and this is the best place to go! Worst Service EVER 10/9/2007

I treated my sister's entire bridal party to hair and make-up on the big day. Big mistake! Not only were the stylists late, but they did a terrible job with scheduling, and couldn't even handle the reservation I made months in advance. And the make-up was HORRIBLE! She made us look like prostitutes, and we had to each wash our faces after leaving because we were so embarressed by how we looked we couldn't face our family. My sister and I got a mani/pedi the day before, and not only were the conditions DISGUSTING (seriously, we almost left), but the stylists gossiped the whole time while paying almost zero attention to us. I complained to the receptionist both times and thought I might receive a response because of the amount of money I had spent, but never heard a thing. Save yourself some hassle, and go someplace where customer service means something!!! Pros: Location, Price Cons: You get what you pay for, or less! more

Terrible Experience 3/9/2007

I went to Steven L Marvin salon the day before my birthday to get a shampoo and straighten. The stylist was 15 minutes late and extremely rude. he insulted my hair several times, including its dry condition and a "bad dye job" which he repeated during the entire shampoo and most of the dry. he actually asked "what is going on here?" about my roots. everything he said was rude and inappropriate. i left there feeling horrible about myself and my hair. he even did a poor job drying and left some of it wet. i complained to the front desk and turned in a comment card and it was never followed up on. i do not recommend this to anyone, most people go to a salon to feel good not to be insulted. Awesome Customer Service 1/4/2007

This was my first visit to the salon and I received amazing customer service throughout the entire experience. Caring receptionists and understanding stylists made my visit worth while. Solid haircuts and additional services 7/27/2005

This salon seems like it is seeking to find its footing. It has been awhile and does have some great things to offer like a wide service menu and current procedures like spray tanning. Prices are slighlty less than the more high end salons in the area, but are still high for the quality of the service. There does not seem to be great consistency between staff and what they do. Despite that, for simple services and when you know what you need, you can feel secure they will follow your directions and provide the pampering adn services you need. more
