NEVER GO TO THIS SHOP 8/23/2010

I took my vehicle in for a rotation noise near the tire. Over the phone I was quoted $50 for a diagnositc check to see whats wrong. After paitiently waiting an hour and a half I went up to the desk to see what was taking so long. He said " I am working up your estimate now". I said well can you at least tell me what is wrong. He stated its over $1800 worth of work. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? My car is 16 years old and not even worth that much. He came back with a laundry list of items that HAD to be replaced. Even went as far as saying, I shouldnt be driving the car. I said Please take my car off the lift and I left. My father is a mechanic and I called to tell him about the experience. I took to another shop in Laurel, who checked the exact same problem and came back with only one piece that needed to be fixed. A $220 repair. THIS PLACE IS A HUGE RIPOFF!! Dont ever take your vehicle there. They lie, they are shady. OH, and my $50 quote over the phone for diagnositc ended up being $70. more

GREAT EXPERIENCE 8/11/2009

I took my vehicle to STARTING GATE SERVICENTER for service last April. I was suprised to find their shop so clean.I really wanted to take pictures of the waiting room and especially the lady's bathroom.You can't believe hoe nice they are and hoe clean everything is.The people behind the counter were pleasant and professional. The technician brought my car up front and handed me my keys,with a thank you for allowing us to service your vehicle. I think you'll fine everything working well. If you have any problems please call us. The repairs were corrected right. The price for the repair was fair. The experience was wonderful. I would certianly recommend them to anyone. more

Rip-off and bad customer service 5/5/2009

I've gone to this shop for about 2 years mainly because they are convenient and they offer drop of service. But they've ripped me off for almost 5K over those 2 years. they never repair the problem you actually bring your car in for (they find other stuff) and you end up going repeatedly and they charge every time for everything even checks. they don't know how to work on foreign cars (VW, BMWs) so don't bring them there. I have spoken to others in my neighbor that since I?ve been talking about my problems with them and stated they?ve had problems too. If after this warning you still decide to go make sure you ask for an estimate before they do any work, they got me for over $300 because i didn't do this and this was even more maddening because i only bought my car back there for them to recheck some work that the dealership said they didn't do properly. Unprofessional 4/21/2009

I live in the Laurel area (Russett). Today I was out walking my 6-month old son. I saw a Starting Gate Tow truck, and as they passed me, the driver screamed out the window at me for no particular reason. I didn't think much of it until they passed me again 10 minutes later when I was exiting a cross walk (w/ a stroller), and the jack ass in the passenger seat screamed at me again, trying to spook me. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL! Just goes to show the quality of person this place will hire. I don't know why I'm surprised. I've heard from many friends about their experiences at this shop. All of them were ripped off, not happy with results, and would never return for future service. more

Over price check! 3/9/2009

Went in for a waterpump. Bare in mind me and the mechanic had what I thought was a heart to heart on my money issues. I was quaoted $1000- for waterpump and labor. I asked if they had less expensive parts and the mechanic shrugged to say well a Bosh part is less, and found a few other brand parts that could have saved me on their original price. I could not afford the price. Declining their service, I was charged $50.00 for a "pressure test". Which could be taken off if I did business with them.\r \r In desperation I tried another place. $400, maybe less was quoted. I took it in to have the problem confirmed and price. Good place for service 10/3/2008

I brought my Buick Century in there for an oil change. The mechanics found some front end damage on my car. The general Manager, Ken, was nice enough to take me into the shop and show me the damage and the mechanic explained everything thoroughly. I got the work done and talked with some friends in the car business and they told me if I didn't get the work done I would have destroyed my tires and other front end parts. Yes I paid for more than an oil change, but Starting Gate Service Center went above and beyond to make sure my car was truly in good condition. On top of that it was the cleanest shop I have seen inside and out including the parking lot and landscaping. I will bring my car here for years to come. more

making the most of it 7/25/2008

brought my car in for an oil change and to check a front end shakiness. oil change was fine but expensive $40+. they said much needed to be fixed in the front end but they would have to do a diognostic check. $100+. only then would they be able to know what was wrong. they also continually suggested checking things i know were ok. they seem to be out to make the most of getting money out of you. more

Keep out of this shop 3/13/2008

Brought my car in to have alternator replaced and 60K mile checkup they destroyed my engine in the process! They replaced it and I had to return to the shop 6 more times to get things fixed on the replaced engine I gave up and went away $3000.00 poor but wiser. more
