Great hair salon- great price 9/12/2006

after needing to find a salon that was closer to my house I found Starr House. I called and asked about pricing and was told the prices for hair cuts range from $50 to $75 dollars. But that they guarantee their work at every price. After that I felt confident to book a $50 dollar cut and $50 color. I can't tell you how amazed I was with the salon and my service. I didn't expect much for $100 bucks total and was thrilled that I was treated like a million bucks and not some cheap skate (like I have been in the past at high end places). I have found a new salon and will tell as many people as I can about this great find! Pros: easy free parking....great price more

Razors are Cool 8/23/2006

I havent been able to find a hairdresser that I like since I left pennsylvania six years ago, but I think I've found an acceptable replacement. Connie gave me one of the best cuts I've had in a very long time. I brought in a picture of what I wanted and she went to town. After some inital akwardness about wanting to color my hair and me politely refusing, she gave me a great razor cut. We had a lengthy discussion about cutting techniques which was very informative. As she dried my hair, she took back her previous comment about dying and decided that my hair color was fine just the way it is. I have returned to Connie and will continue to let her cut my hair. I've finally found a stylist! 8/16/2006

I searched for a salon that was close to home and had high ratings and this is what I got. Chris, the master cutter, was quick and detailed. He examined my wavy, frizzy hair and gave me the most fabulous and sophisticated haircut I've ever received. It's been three months since that day I walked in and it's still gorgeous. Everyone compliments the cut--some still ask me if I just got a cut! I'll be back soon. Pros: Easy parking on street or lot. Free makeup application. Cons: More than I'd like to pay (but the quality is soooo GOOD) more

smooth skin again 8/1/2006

I made an appointment to see Karen for a wax. I will no mention where it was- :) but I will say I was amazed at how quickly it went and how it didn't hurt and no red bumps. I even took her advice and had a haircut with Christina and have found my new stylist!! Christina rocks and Karen rules. Great place give it a try. more

Best salon in Los Angeles 8/1/2006

Ok I read the reviews- but still went with some hesitation. I called and was indeed greeted by Karen (one of the owners) who asked me about my hair, my expectations- everything and did pair me up with Andrea and Chris (who I wanted to try anyway). I went in filled out my form had a great talk with Andrea and then with Chris and was amazed with what they did. It was what I asked for done quickly and didn't cost West side prices. Wow- Starr House really is what people think it is!!! more

Great Hair color 8/1/2006

I found this place after a long search (and lots of money spent) and it was worth the wait. I saw Andrea and she corrected my very blotchy high lights and the strange orange- green color that the last stylist left me with. I was amazed that she was able to do it in one trip and only charged me for a high light. I am really impressed and will share my new find with many many people. more

Amazing cut and color in Pasadena 7/5/2006

I have recently moved to the area and being faced with finding a new salon on top of everything else was overwhelming. But a friend told me about insider pages and I tried found Starr House and can't stop talking about it. I am use to getting good hair cuts and color. But here I got Amazing cut and color. Andrea and Chris were everything I have read and more. Karen did the most amazing make up on me and I left feeling revived and refreshed. Amazing really. best hair color in Pasadena 6/22/2006

I needed a new do and after asking tons of people and checking online I was surprised to find most people were recommending this place. I called and talked to Karen who after talking about my hair type and my expectations recommended me to Andrea I had read about her and thought OK what the heck. After meeting Andrea I felt at ease with asking for what I wanted and then getting it...amazing on the first try. My highlights look like when I was a kid. So natural and soft and not dry and brittle. Andrea told me this happens when stylist leave color on to long or use harsh developers to lift the hair... wow is all I can say about this place. A must for anyone who has had any hearts broken at a salon. Pros: really friendly, great parking more

GOT VERY LUCKY BY FINDING THIS PLACE 6/13/2006

AFTER MOVING TO THE PASADENA AREA, I WAS LOOKING FOR A NEW STYLIST, AND THAT IS NO EASY TASK. I READ THE REVEIWS FOR STARRHOUSE , AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT. CONNIE WAS ABLE TO SEE ME ON TUESDAY, SHE HIGHLIGHTED ME AND I WAS SOOOO HAPPY THAT IT LOOKED NATURAL AND SHINEY . THEN A FABULOUS CUT THAT I CAN BLOW DRY WITH MY HANDS. Best hair in Los Angeles 5/29/2006

I just moved here and not knowing many places I did an internet search and found Starr House. I called and was greeted by Karen who walked me through pricing, services and then talked to me about the best people to do my hair. Visiting Starr House was like visiting a European city, The street looks just like Paris with the shops, food places amazing. I was just taken away with the fact that Andrea the master colorist sat down with me and just talked. Chris was amazing with my hair cut and Karen topped it off with make-up amazing. Best hair color in the Los Angeles 4/24/2006

I have been everywhere for my hair. Bevery Hills, West Hollywood, Brentwood just everywhere and paid those prices. SO I was a bit scared about going to a salon that wasn't pricey enough...thinking it would be cheap. I was so so very surprised to find that the colorist Andrea Auman came from the high end back ground but decided not to go back and opened up (with her buiseness partner Karen an amazing make-up artisit) a salon that seems like you should paying those other prices. She sat down and talked , lisened, and made sugestions. Then the most amazing thing happened she deleived everything she said she would. I had a free make up with Karen and ended up feeling better leaving Starr House then any other ""High End"" place I have ever been. Salons will take a lesson from Starr House on what HIGH END really means!!! Pros: fast really fast, friendly, parking is easy more

THE PERFECT HAIRCOLOR OF YOUR DREAMS!!!!!!!!!!! 4/8/2006

Old stylists would never get the color right the first time. They damaged my hair and it would turn orange later. They're NEVER consistent with the color so my color would change every 3 months. This place had a no rush consultation where she explained my hair and how color affects it. She was very proffesional. I SHOWED A PICTURE of the color I wanted and was blown AWAY! This is the only salon I've been to where I achieved the perfect blonde without irritation to the scalp and NO breakage! THEY DON'T USE HEAT DRYERS TO SPEED UP THE TIME OF Processing! My hair is soft and has not turned brassy! I went from a dark brown/black to an awesome warm blonde with light blonde highlights! The staff is very accomodating and the colorist is a MASTER in her craft. I LOVE THIS PLACE FOR LIFE! U will too! Pros: Perfect Results, Professional, FRIENDLY STAFF Cons: NONE WHATSOEVER! more

I came here because of the reviews I had read from other internet sources as well. I had to try it out and see what I thought. I needed a change from my old stylist, her style bored me. Turns out I ended up finding my long lost stylist, Albert DeDios, who did wonders for my thick hair about a yr. and 1/2 ago! He was as great as he'd been the time before. I have complete trust in his ideas and his tools and he made a change in my hair, I loved it. My boyfriend found my hair so manageble the day after my appt. I am now a love at first visit customer. The staff was so friendly and it's located at such a convenient spot in San Marino. Pros: Location, Albert DeDios, Friendly staff Cons: Appt. Recommended more

Great Salon 3/9/2006

I have had my hair cut twice at this salon and my color done once. The staff listens carefully to your needs and provides exactly what you want -- but better than you could ever imagine. That's all very well, but this salon goes even further. I recently went to a class they held on hairstyling and in addition to learning a lot about hair products and how to style in general, I got a lot of one-on-one time on how to recreate my look at home. The staff seemed really motivated to give me good information rather than sell me products. I have never felt so genuinely cared for. more

I am really impressed 2/28/2006

Everyone in my office lately seems to be going to Starr House and I finally made an appointment. I was not sorry. I was greeted by a wonderful Scot when I called and she talked to me about my hair. She recommended Andrea and Albert for my hair. I had highlights and a haircut. I was really impressed with Andrea she was really fast and not in that rushed way but in the clearly she has been doing this a long time way. My highlights were amazing and the cut was amazing too. I can even style it at home. Starr House you have really impressed me. Thanks more

Lucky San Marino! 2/28/2006

This place is just what San Marino needed, it is bright, vibrant and fun yet professional and very friendly. I have never been to a salon on the west coast that has made me feel so at ease, like I have been going there for years. Got great hilights from Andrea and a chic and easy to keep haircut from Christina, I have told all my friends, now they are booked and if I send 3 I get a free service, how amazing is that. And it is close to the 10, the 110, the 210.... no excuse not to go! Oh, and has free parking! Pros: love it love it!!! more

Found this salon on city search and gave it a try, let me tell you I was not disappointed. These guys delivered all they said they would and more. I had color done by Andrea based on the recommendations I read and she ws fabulous. Her cutter Chris gave me a great haircut and styled my hair beautifully. As an added bonus I managed to have a manicure and lip wax while my color processed and Lora and Karen were just lovely. I have never had so many compliments on my hair and this is the cuttest little area tucked away in San Marino's Mission st area, with boutiques and restaurants. Check it out!!! Starr House...What a salon 1/20/2006

I went to Starr House because it seems everyone in my office is going there and was really surprised that it is all they said it would be. I had color with Andrea and just as promised it came out how I wanted it. Very natural and very shiny. Christina cut my hair and gave me a great cut that is easy to take care of. Karen waxed my well I don't need to share that but lets just say it was clean and almost pain free. I love this place and am happy to recommend it. Thanks Starr House more

Great British influence! 1/19/2006

This place is a gem, you won't regret your decision to visit here, one of the owners is a fellow Scot and waxed my eyebrows, no redness experienced! I had my colour refreshed by Andrea and my hair trimmed by Chris, I felt like a new woman. Finally I have found a salon which makes me feel at home, professional, fun and fabulous! And they do great incentives, prepay cards and hold classes for the clients! Go!!!! Pros: parking lot more
