Wonderful...I will go back! 9/14/2012

I have lived in Vancouver for a year and never went to the Stardust Diner because I was not sure it was open! Their parking is on the back side, out of view, you cannot really see through the windows on the street side and more importantly their really great sign on top of the diner is not lit up! BUT.....I discovered it was open and I went for lunch their today and was I surprised. The interior is bright, perfectly designed like the diners from the '50's that I remember right down to the chrome table and chairs with wonderful blue plastic seats! The decor is just right, not over the top. Just enough memorabilia. Very clean and looks new. The food was wonderful, prices good and waitress was very friendly. My only suggestion, turn on your wonderful exterior sign (maybe it is on at night?) I will go back! more

Well run restaurant, great experience 10/18/2009

Stopped by this morning (a Sunday). The place was packed with a short waiting list. They had a good size staff on hand and moved everyone through very efficiently. I was impressed with how smooth everything seemed to run with it being so busy. Waited about 10 minutes for a table and our food came out very fast and was delicious with generous portions. Had chicken fried steak and the wife had an omelette, both were very good. This was our first time, we will be back. more

Stardust Diner is a trip back in time 8/12/2009

This place was packed to the first six months when it was opened several years ago (2002). People were standing in-line outside to get a seat. Now you're one of only three or four others eating here. Don't know what happened. It's a great old fashion 1950s style diner, and the food is just above average for a diner. Price is good if you have the two for one coupon. The Meatloaf is great. Service was fast and friendly. more

Good Breakfast Value 6/8/2009

My wife and I stop in at the Stardust a couple times a month. Nothing too fancy here, but the food is simple, good quality and a good value, and the service and overall atmosphere and general staff morale seem to be much improved under the new ownership. We just love the pancakes: very substantial and buttery soft, definitely from scratch, and I have yet to find any restaurant in Vancouver that can match the bacon they serve at the Stardust: very thick, lean and flavorful. You'll pay a buck or 2 more than some of the breakfast chains, but the extra quality is well worth it & its just a fun, pleasant neighborhood joint to eat at. more

Stardust was great! 3/31/2009

I just took my family here to the Stardust Diner. You can tell the difference with the new owners. Super clean, the food was better than IHOP/Sharis and just as good as the over priced Roses. The staff was awesome. We have a 17 month old they were fantastic giving him extra pancakes and a little bit of eggs without charging us. They were busy but made us feel like we were the only ones there! I like them over Roses too as the breakfast is just as good, its more cost effective, they are more hospitable and they give back to the community and will actually give out coupons. I have never left a review but they were above and beyond what I expected. I only saw this review site because I looked up their # as we are headed over there in about 15 minutes! :) more

Fun place for breakfast 3/21/2009

Went this morning with the family. The place was packed and there was a waiting list, but we were seated in about 5 minutes, and even with the place being so busy, we were well attended and got our food fast. We had basic breakfast fare: pancakes, and an omelet. Everything was very tasty. I liked the place best for the atmosphere. It was just a lively, fun, upbeat place to dine. more

Just OK 3/21/2009

I went to breakfast this morning with my two sons, I had high hopes for this place. Reading the reviews here got me to go.\r \r Much of the food was well cooked and it was a clean atmosphere. I don't think the menu is much of a value. They listed everywhere on their menu and signs in the restaurant about fresh quality ingredients.\r \r I was disappointed and surprised when I ordered the Eggs Benedict that the hollandaise sauce was made from a powdered mix. When you order Eggs Benedict it is all about the sauce. Also the hash browns were mushy.\r \r When I mentioned this to the manager he seemed shocked that it would be a problem. He seemed to be very inexperienced with customer service.\r \r Pancakes were very good, and they cook the eggs very well. I think if they took the items that are not made fresh off the menu they'd be much better off. more

AWESOME 3/18/2009

My husband and I visited for the first time this week. What a wonderful treat. The atmosphere was great, the wait staff was attentive and friendly. The food was wonderful, I couldn't have recommended that anything be done differently. This is definitely a place where we will continue to dine. The manager even acknowledged us as we were leaving. Just the type of place to hang out and forget about this days troubles...a momentary blast back to the past is good for the soul. Debbi and David H more

Fun retro restaurant 3/6/2009

I was attracted by the cool 50's silver diner exterior. Stopped in and gave it a try. Inside is very fun & retro as well. Had a burger with an old-fashioned spun hard ice cream shake that was divine. Nice restaurant, friendly staff, good value; I will be going back. more

Good breakfast 2/28/2009

I think this little restaurant is often overlooked for a breakfast place on the East end of Vancouver. My husband and I have been going there for years for the breakfast (which is served all day long). It really beats the heck out of the IHOPs and Elmers, etc. out there. They use premium ingredients and have good size portions and the homemade buttermilk pancakes are to die for. Most other places use mix nowadays; not here. more

Excellent service, big portions 2/28/2009

Went to the Stardust recently for the first time. The food was great and the portions were very large. Good value for the price. The service was excellent; my waiter anticipated my every need. I'll be going back. more

Disappointment 2/6/2009

I used to love this place. It closed briefly and re-opened in November. I worry that it will be closed for good because the food and service are worse than under the last ownership. The recipes are the same but the ingredients didn't taste fresh and food was cold. more

The good old Stardust is back 12/29/2008

I used to go to the Stardust Diner from around the time it opened in 2002 to 2006 at least once a week. The atmoshpere was lively and the food was uncomplicated "comfort food", but always very good quality. I had noticed the quality slipping in the past couple years, and quit going for awhile. Saw the "under new ownership" sign and stopped in last week to give it a try. Tried my old favorite, the lasagna, it was exactly like I remembered it from years past. My girlfriend had a bacon cheesburger; it was really good too. The atmosphere was upbeat and there seemed to be a lot more staff on hand than the last time I was in. Looks like the new owners are on the right track; we had a great meal/experience, just like the old days at the Stardust. I am really happy that someone took it over who cares about quality because this place is a real asset to the neighborhood. more

Best breakfast in town, great service 12/29/2008

Since discovering the Stardust about a month ago, we have been back 3 times. We have found nothing to compare in Vancouver for breakfast. The food quality is top notch, the portions are generous, and the servers have always been very attentive and knowledgable. The wife and I went there during the big Christmas snow storm. I am handicapped and had trouble navigating the slush in the parking lot on the way in. I mentioned this in passing to the manager and, while we ate, he personally went outside and shovelled a path all the way from the back door of the restaurant to our car and all around the car. The Stardust has has become our new home away from home for breakfast. more

I thought it was GREAT!! 12/18/2008

We had a good time at the Stardust Diner. The food was "good old diner food", which is what we were wanting. The milkshakes are excellent and I will go back soon to try out their breakfast food menu. The feeling the the diner was fun and friendly. Great place to go after a movie or after a long day shopping. more

We won't be going back again 12/13/2008

This was a restaurant my daughter and I would go to before heading to the theatre but after our experience we won't be going back. With the new owners our food sat in the window until it was cold. Our waitress who took our order visited with a table behind us for quite a bit. Our food was delivered by another waiter. We were sitting near the window and I watched our order sit there for over 10 min. as our waitress just chatted away. My daughters grilled cheese looked like they slapped the cheese on toast (Because it got so cold) They did replace her sandwhich with a hot one and the owner didn't acknowledge the fact it was the waitresses fault and not the cooks when I tried to tell him he ignored me and walked a way. What a great experience. more

The 'Dust is as good as ever 11/20/2008

My wife and I were at the Stardust just last Monday. All the old staff are there, cooks and all. It was delicious and the kids loved the shakes.\r \r The new owners were there and are committed to keeping this place top-notch. They were great to talk with.\r \r We'll be going back soon for breakfast soon. more

THE STARDUST IS COMING BACK!!!! 11/5/2008

The previous post is correct that the Stardust was closed down on Oct. 9th. My wife and I have loved this restaurant for years and when we saw it was for lease, we kissed our jobs in the corporate world goodbye and jumped at this great opportunity. We have been able to hire back almost all of the great staff that have made the Stardust so wonderful over the years. We will be back and better than ever!\r \r THE STARDUST IS REOPENING UNDER NEW OWNERS ON NOV. 18TH !\r \r Bust the recession wide open, and come on down for burgers and shakes at Vancouver's only authentic vintage 50s diner. We'll be waiting for you. more

Stardust Diner 10/31/2008

I do not know if anyone knows that the Stardust Diner\r closed about 3 weeks ago-so that would be about\r the first part of October 2008. My husband and I went\r there for breakfast this morning (10-31-08) and found\r it locked up and for lease. What a disappointment-it\r was our favorite place to eat in Vancouver.\r G & S Lee more

Diner style dining... 8/12/2008

This is a retro looking diner that kind of takes you back. The food was good and the desserts divine. I've been there twice and both times the service was fast and pleasant. more
