This place is a joke. They charge you for services you did not need or receive. The staff at the front desk is rude and does not want to help you in anyway. The doctor does not even talk to you she just prescribed me something and sent me on my way when I had many questions!! I am NEVER going back. I wish I read these reviews before I went there and wasted my time. EWW more

Need to leave 1/20/2012

I have been with Bay Area Womens care for 15+ yrs. I'm sad to say I'm leaving! The office is a mess. I used them for my first child. I couldn't get through on the phone for 3 days! I had to drive to the office to make an appointment. I was 7 months pregnant and found this troublesome. They also told me my strep B was negative when in fact it wasn't. Many of the staff have left. This makes me a bit suspicious. I used to see a wonderful ARNP, but she's gone too. Dr. St. John delivered my Son. She was amazing, but I don't think her great care can't make up for such a poorly run office. more

Best OB/GYN Practice in the Area! 12/14/2011

I've used the physicians at Bay Area Women's Care for the past 5 years to help me take care of my 2 pregnancies and take care of my yearly women's physicals. The two doctors that I've used were Dr. Peterfrund & Dr Clark. Bother were outstanding physicians that went above and beyond the call of duty to help me have my babies safely when I wanted to do a VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section). The office is well appointed and very friendly to patients. The staff are always knowledgeable and willing to try to helpful get you in as soon a possible. In fact, they told me they're starting to offer same day appointments so that local women can more easily get in on their schedule. The exam rooms are quiet and private. They give you a modesty sheet with a heat lamp to stay warm. Significant others and spouses are welcome to accompany you to watch the miracle of birth progress along during your visits from start to finish. I'm so glad I found Bay Area Women's Care. Unlike other local practices, they care about their patients and put a face to the name they care for. I always plan on using them for my OB/GYN care and hope they stay in the area for a long time! more

Great Office! 9/22/2011

Unlike these other reviews, I have always had great experiences in this office. The staff is professional and polite, the doctors are wonderful, and if you call with a problem, they will take care of you the same day. more

Worst decision of my pregnancy 8/8/2011

Bay Area Women?s Care was the worst decision of my entire pregnancy. After waiting the typical 45 minutes past my appointment time, the doctor would often come and go so quickly that they would forget to even introduce themselves (you have to see each doctor at least once to become ?aquainted? ? ha!; at least they wear namebadges). Unprofessional, at best. Even knowing that I wanted a natural childbirth experience, as the end of my pregnancy grew near, they pressured me over and over to agree to being induced ? each time I declined. They would tell me things like ?it?s either be induced now or have a c-section later?, as though going natural was never an option they considered. At 41 weeks (by THEIR calculation of my last mensus? even though we had been TTC for 18 months and taking ovulation tests, they totally disregarded my telling that I ovulated a week beyond the norm), they decided to do an ultrasound to see how big the baby was getting. Since acting like a 8.5 pound baby was huge didn?t scare me, they told me that the ultrasound showed the placenta as old and degraded (on a scale of 0-3, it was a 3 ? the lowest possible); they said the placenta was full of holes and that it ?looked like swiss cheese?. They proceeded to tell me that if I chose to go another day or two on my own, I would likely be giving birth to a stillborn baby. I, of course, caved and did what they said was best ? agree to be induced. At the hospital, I felt like I was asking all the right questions about the meds they would be using to induce me. They did not tell me that they were using a DOUBLE DOSE of pitocin! This information only came out when the nurse let it slip that they were using ?pit to distress?. I didn?t know what that meant until I came home and googled it ? go ahead, I dare you to look it up. It?s also called ?pit em and rip em?, since it almost always ends in a c-section. I asked for some loose time frames so the doula I hired could be there to help with pain management ? they told me the whole thing should take at least 12 hours or so (which would have been about right, had they given me the standard doses of pitocin). From the time they first administered the pitocin, my baby was out within 4.5 hours! I am convinced that if it weren?t for the mental preparation and the support of my doula, I would have most certainly ended up in a c-section. And the swiss cheese placenta? Even the doctor acknowledged upon delivery that it was ?beautiful and healthy?, not a hole in sight. Apparently, ultrasounds aren?t as clear-cut as we would like to think. Stay far, far away from Bay Area Women?s Care. They are the worst example of an assembly line, just looking to bang it out and get on to the next one. more

Horrible Place 6/28/2011

I would never recommend this place. It has gone extremely downhill. I have been a patient here for 15 years and the last few years have been horrible. During the course of my pregnancy every physician with the exception of 1, myseriously ""moved out of state"" within a few months of each other. The continuity of care just wasnt there, even leading up to that. The wait in the waiting room was never an issue that I experienced. Mine was much more embarassing, EVERY SINGLE VISIT. EVERY VISIT I was escorted to the examination room, had my blood pressure taken, undressed and was left waiting there with no clothes on for almost an hour EVERY TIME. My last visit was in June 2011 and I waited there, undressed, for 1 hr 40 minutes. During this time I heard the nursing staff and my Dr discussing which steak/seafood house they should go to for dinner in the Tampa area for 30 minutes. I also heard a 10 minute recap of the Dr's latest trip out of the country, all while I was waiting undressed on the table. I thought it couldnt get any worse and then I heard them make fun of a senior citizen, fellow patient, that was waiting with me in the waiting room. The nurse failed to give her proper instructions for the specimen cup in the restroom, so the patient brought it out to her. After they sent her to a room, they proceeded to laugh at her and refer to her as the nurse's ""little friend"" who was ""bringing her a little present"". As if that wasnt aweful enough, the violated HIPPA laws by discussing her medical condition (which was very embarassing) in full detail and rudely saying ""we referred her out, what is she doing back here"". I will never return to this practice for any reason and hope no one else subjects themselves to that embarassment either. They are rude and incapable of being compassionate. I cant believe I'm saying that because years ago the nurses were lovely and I really enjoyed the care of knowledge of the physicians but the new staff gives the place a totally different vibe. Going to these types of female visits is embarassing enough. It's not too much to expect professionalism at all times. more

Rude Staff- Long Wait Times 2/3/2010

I am trying to decide what part of my experience to elaborate on between the hour in the waiting room, the rude phone nurses, the $1000 in lab fees, the 5 times I left messages for the doctor and wasn't called back, or the fact that after a month in a half they still haven't been able to find out what is wrong. \r \r I cannot tell you how much of a frustrating experience this has been, After not being able to schedule me in for a week to see the doctor because I wasn't pregnant and bleeding, the head phone nurse actually told me if it hurt bad enough I should just go to the emergency room.\r \r Here is a little advice from one girl to another, go somewhere else. Pros: Friendly Doctor Cons: Rude Staff more
