Best

Spencer's is the only outstanding steakhouse in Salt Lake City!!!!! The steaks are USDA PRIME from the stockyards of Chicago, the marbling and tenderness of the meat is excellent....

Worst

Rave Reviews 7/25/2003

My wife and I went to Spencers on a company dinner a few months back. We enjoyed the food and service so much that we invited our waiter to join us after dinner for drinks at the bar. He was sensational, and we really enjoyed ourselves. We still tell everyone who is traveling to SLC to make sure they have dinner there. P.S. Since it was on company money the price was OK. If it was on my dollar, it would have been a bit spendy. P.S.S. While we were there, about half of the Utah Jazz Players came in to have dinner after a game. It was a lot of fun. Pros: Food, Service, Ambiance Cons: Price more

Yummy! 7/1/2003

Specncer's is easily the best steakhouse in Salt Lake City. When my grandparents' visited from NY, we ate there the first night and my grandfather refused to eat anywhere else in Salt Lake for the rest of their stay! The steaks are incredible, but I also recommend their king crab. It's a bit on the expensive side, especially if you have drinks and dessert, but all well worth it. Pros: serve drinks, relaxing, great food Cons: pricey more

Waste of Money 6/26/2003

The ambience of Spencers is soothing; however, that is the only benefit of dinning there. The food was mediocre; both of the stakes we ordered were fatty and chewy. I have had better stakes from Sizzler than this place. Sides are served alcarte and I had the asparagus and potatoes which were alright. The service was slow and they seemed to take away our plates before we were done, they didnt ask they just took. Their drinks were not tasteful. It was like drinking cubed ice. If you really want a great stake I would recommend Shula's or Flemming's. My personal favorite is the Tiburon. Pros: Ambience, Leaving, Never coming back Cons: Servive, Food, Drinks more

Ms. 5/27/2003

Love the food, but they have the smallest glasses of white wine in the city. You get more wine if you order your white wine in a red wine glass. That has nothing to do with the Utah laws. Pros: The booths, Comfortable, Great Food! Cons: Small wine serving, Bar placemats more

Spencer's is Tops 5/8/2003

Absolutely my favorite Steakhouse in Salt Lake. I have eaten at many of the best: La Caille, New Yorker, Market Street (all locations), Christopher's, Shula's, Flemings, Carver's, Maddox, The Roof and many more. I recommend each of those, but Spencer's is the best Steakhouse. They have good variety and also do Fish and Fowl well. Appetizers are scrumptous. Spencer's steaks are perfect, but they do tend to cook to the rare side. I almost always order my steaks medium rare. At Spencer's you might consider medium instead, if you don't like it too rare. (Medium rare was fine with me.) Last visit to Spencers, my wife got the Lobster, and loved it. On one visit, I was able to get my 14 year old son interested in the Ahi Tuna (it was great!) and he doesn't even like seafood. This place isn't cheap, but you get what you pay for. more

Can you say Awesome!! 5/7/2003

Really great service. Steak is great. Sucks to eat here if your poor. LOL. Waitresses are HOT! Wine list rocks! Manger is a stud! I eat here so much they gave me my own knife on the wall. Booyaa!! more

The steak was a little disappointing 4/24/2003

The server gave us great detail about the wet-aged beef and high-tech cooking process, but the bottom line is that my signature, medium rare, rib-eye steak seemed charred on the outside. I guess I was just expecting more. On the bright side, the atmosphere is great, dark wood, and cozy, and the service is absolutely perfect. Pros: Service, Atmosphere Cons: Overhyped Steak more

You can't beat Spencers 3/4/2003

I have had a chance to eat at Spencers on many occasions and have never been anything but extremely well treated and excellently fed. Their steaks are unbeatable and their side dishes are worth the trip by themselves. Pros: Beef is SUPREME, Mashed Potatos Rule, Employees Rule Cons: Location, Pricing more

Excellent rib eye. Best tasting steak in town. Great wine selection and cigar bar. How can you not rate this one of the best in SLC? Pros: Valet, wine list, service more

BEST STEAK EVER! 1/2/2003

Following a long flight to SLC I was worn out and resigned to a lousey hotel restaurant meal. Instead I found Spencer's in the lobby of the Sheraton. I ate there four times during my stay in SLC. By far the best steak and atomsphere anywhere. more

The Best Steak in Utah 12/22/2002

Clearly the top steakhouse in Utah. I've eaten there a dozen time and the steaks and sides are always superb. An excellent wine list and desert selection. A bit expensive, but I've never had a meal there I didn't think was worth the price. Pros: valet/self parking, consistent, excellent service Cons: expensive, membership required more

Outstanding 12/12/2002

From the perfectly aged and prepared beef to the richly appointed decor. Spencer's offers everything a true connoisseur could wish for. Pros: Food, parking, decor more

fantastic! 10/24/2002

on a scale from 1 to 10, I give it a 10! most people in Salt Lake have never heard of Spencer's, I think it's becouse they are not a national chane and on every street corner. BIG mistake, there food and service is a cut above the rest. Pros: steak, service Cons: Expensive more

BEST STEAK AROUND! 10/18/2002

The steak here is fabulous! I have never had such a tender piece of beef . . . it just melted in my mouth! So flavorful too. The baked potato was huge and came with an array of toppings. The service was impeccable. The atmosphere was quiet and classy. Expensive but worth it. Pros: FOOD, SERVICE Cons: EXPENSIVE more

Up there with the best 10/7/2002

Best service in town and delightful ambience. Spencer's is on my of favorite restaurants and my clients rave about it. Better prices than the New Yorker. more

Best Steaks in SLC 8/24/2002

A real Steakhouse. Great atmosphere and the best Beef in Utah!!! Pros: Valet Parking, Best Steak, Clubby Atmosphere more

Incredible!!! 8/22/2002

Spencer's is amazing. They have huge high-back booths that you can just sink into, which gives you the feeling of privacy and can also be very romantic. The food is amazing as well. The steaks are prime beef and cooked in a broiler that is so hot (1600 degrees F) that it makes the steak even more incredible. The temperatures of the steaks are always perfect and the service is the best in Salt Lake. Spencer's is a Private Club, but that just means you can get a ""side car"" with your martini. I would recommend Spencer's to anyone. Pros: Validated Parking, Great wine list, amazing martinis more

flashy comfort 8/18/2002

Spencer's offers outstaning steaks, with delicous sides served family style. Such as sauteed spinach with cherry tomatoes, Asparagus with Hollandaise, potatoes stuffed tableside with anything you want. I have never eaten an average steak at Spencer's...They are heaven on earth!!! The wine list is extensive as well. YUMMMMMYYYYYY!!!!!!! Pros: secluded booth seats, low lighting, knowledgable service more
